  1. I want to place a couple of under water caches. I have purchased a couple of the small Pelican containers. They say they are waterproof but I just dont get the friendly feeling they can stay submerged for a long period of time. My question is, what other waterproof containers do cachers out there use/suggest? I want the contents to stay completely dry and it will be completely submerged 36"-48". Thanks!
  2. Where do you get the stats like on PhantomTech's profile? The stats at the bottom of the page are awesome. http://www.geocaching.com/profile/Default....2366a0&ds=2

    Changing Names

I looked the forums for the answer to this and I am sure it is there, I just cannot locate it. Is it possible to change your profile name on the geocaching website? My significant other and I both like to geocache and want to make one profile out of two and want to change our name to something that we both would enjoy. Thanks for the help! Found the answer, please disregard!
  5. I want to start leaving some of my own Geocaches. Where is a good place to buy ammo cans? I have looked on eBay, but the shipping is outrageous. Is there somewhere with reasonable rates for the cans and shipping, or does anyone know anywhere local in the Portland, OR area? Thanks!
  6. I have noticed these since the updates, or have they always been there? *Often times I have to recalibrate the compass to get it to track correctly. *The track up and track north always get reset when i switch from one cache to the next. *When transferring wirelessly to another colorado, it only copies the cache name and coords. It doesnt send any info like the description, logs, hints, etc. Am I the only one having these issues?

    POW/MIA Coin

I am looking for a POW/MIA coin, I cannot find them anywhere to add to my personal collection. Does anyone have a location where they are selling any of these coins? Thanks!
  11. So, I don't have any of this lying around. Where would I likely find it? --Marky Dive shop, Food prep (the use it on ice cream machines) stores, plumbing dept of some of the home repair stores. Rmove the o-ring, apply it sparingly, you want a very think coat, best to put a small quanity (think paper match head size) in your fingers and rub all around it. You should see no build up of the silicone anyplace. The treated o-ring should have a "gloss" to it and no build up. If you get dirt on the o-ring, remove it, wipe it and the mating surfaces on both pieces down with a paper towel, and then reapply. I am curious, but maybe am just dumb, I just took the back off of my colorado 400t and dont see an actual "o-ring" Where are you suggesting you put the silicone on this unit? ** Nevermind, found it. I was being dumb.
  12. I am still having trouble finding the exact ones I should buy. So the 2600mah batteries and a car charger for the batteries and a car mounting kit for the unit itself? Thanks so much for the help!
  13. The mount kit will power your GPS unit, but it won't charge the unit with rechargeable NiMH batteries. I use the Energizer Car Charger that comes with four 2500 mAh rechargeable NiMH batteries, a standard power supply/cord for home use, and a cigar lighter plug/cord for use in a vehicle. I have recently purchased four Duracell 2650 mAh rechargeable NiMH batteries. These came with an instant $2 rebate that I expect is a result of the newer pre-charged NiMH batteries they have recently brought to market. I bought a set of these from Best Buy. They have less capacity and are rated at 2000 mAH but don't lose charge nearly as fast as the other, standard NiMHs do. Do you need 12 batteries to run one GPSr? Probably not a good idea. To work at maximum capacity, these batteries need to run through 10 - 15 full charge/discharge cycles before they peak. The more batteries you use, the longer it takes to cycle these to full potential. On the positive side, using 8 batteries will last twice as long and give you twice the service as using 4 batteries. I think you'd be happy with 4 pre-charged NiMHs. Since you'll need a charger, I would buy the Energizers and the car charger, simply because that charger charges more slowly and is less harmful to the batteries it charges. Speed = Heat = damage. Can you link me the one that you use or recommend? Thanks!
  14. I have a Colorado 400t and want to buy the car mounting kit https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=11408 What batteries would be best to install in the unit? Does the car adapter cahreg the internal batteries while it is plugged in, or is it just used to power the unit when plugged in? I want to buy some rechargeable batteries for the unit, but want to make sure I buy the best ones and ones that will charge with this adapter. Thanks!
  15. My friend and I both walked into REI yesterday and bought them over the counter. I was a little more, but worth not having to wait.
