Yawn... nothing to do with UK geocaching...
However, the thing to focus on is that Google are just flexing their muscles. Since Yahoo! and MSN followed suit with offering more storage space, Google are simply showing off. I use Gmail for work because of it's storage capacity and even with hundreds of scripts, attachments, .pdf's and whatever else I would never come close to having 1GB filled. You can bet that less than 1% of users will actually use 2GB worth of space in their Gmail account.

It is the fact that they bump everyone else and everything else off into the distance that gets my gander. It's a bit like having bullies constantly pushing into the school dinner queue! Yes! you could ignore them too...but in this case they just keep going around and around and around...You then label the people who want to keep the congrats 'bullies', then quickly close the thread so you cannot allow anyone to defend themselves.
It's fair enough to close a thread, but after your parting shot, who are the bullies?
Just for clarity, re-read what they wrote and what you wrote.
From what I read, a comparison was made to congratulations threads being inadvertently bumped to the top of the forums, thus pushing discussion threads down the boards.
Nobody was labeled a bully, it's very much not a parting shot, and we're back to rash posting without really reading what somebody wrote.
Me, I stay out of these boards for the most part, for various issues... this kind of bickering being one of them.

All opinions are relative, however:
Yesterday I placed a cache on top of Mweelrea, the highest mountain in Connaught, Ireland at 814m. The round trip horseshoe hike involved a 13 mile trek over constantly varying terrain, all sorts of surfaces, navigation of narrow pyramidal peaks, terrifyingly narrow aretes, some great fell walking terrain and breathtaking scenery.
The cache "could" be approached from the other side of the horseshoe, providing you had a boat - making the horseshoe, or a return trip on one side the only way to get to the cache box. All in all it took 10 hours.
My question. Are there any harder traditional cache type walkers caches that do not require rock-climbing/abseiling in terms of distance, elevation and height changes in the UK?
I've had a look at the 5/5 caches over on geocacheuk.com and checked some over on Geohikes (you can have this one when it's finished Dave!), but I can't find anything that beats it. Not all cache pages give distances, so first hand accounts please.

Well...
I lived above a Wetherspoons pub in Bristol and they had a real ale promotion on St. George's Day, pints were 70p or something silly.
Tell you something, we celebrated St.George that year!

If "lacking Brit humour" refers to the wonderful use of subtlety and surrealism in British comedy, then I agree completely.
However, I can't possibly say that a retail item which alludes to violence against women can be considered funny.

I do not in any way condone violence to any person, I refuse however to stop finding something funny because these days it is no longer acceptable.
The card is not funny because it has no subtlety, not because of the subject. The presentation is poor.
I have seen good comedians have people laughing heartily at subjects that in most circumstances they would find offensive.
On a different subject this chap had us laughing at religion in a way that perhaps out of context would be very offensive.
I'm anything but politically correct. I just don't find that kind of thing funny.
Brushing me off as being PC does not mean that I don't find it offensive.

Going up Snowdon tomorrow though so hope to bag the pyg track cache (snow permitting) and as a bare minimum, the summit virtual!!
I'm sure your mates won't be able to resist a cup of soup at the summit, giving you plenty of time to log the summit virtual. All you need to do is take a GPS fix at the trigpoint and then post your results when you get down - shouldn't take too long.
Lost Cachers

I might well be described as a lost cacher... although I keep active with doing a whole lot of talking about geocaching, I haven't found one since the 22nd January.
That's not for lack of trying. I had 2 DNF's, but my enthusiasm is waning.
I found almost 170 caches in Ireland over the past two years. I can only quantify that in terms of: At one point last November I had found over 60% of caches on the entire island.
I drove almost 25,000 miles in caching related pursuits over the past 14 months.
And when you've done all of the caches in a 90 mile radius, and the only things that pop up near you are dodgy holiday caches with poor co-ords, then why get excited?
I'm moving to the SW of England in the next two months so that may re-ignite enthusiasm, but I'm not holding out just yet.
I hope it's just a phase. But if not, geocaching has made me a dedicated mountaineer. And I'm looking forward to combining those two hobbies.
