  1. First, there is a big difference between placing information about an organization in a cache placed in the woods and placing a cache at the location of the organization who wishes to solicit your time or money. The religious cache that keeps being mentioned led the cache seeker, with out warning, to a religious establishment where they were approached by members of that religion. Unless you are planning to place the cache at the Summit Assistance Dogs headquarters I don’t see these as similar issues.

I would suggest you place the cache and post it to the web site. After you have posted the cache immediately place a note on the cache page directed to the admin person approving the cache. Let them know that you know they may not approve of your cache because of the organization tie in. Ask them to advise you how they feel the cache maybe altered to make it acceptable if it is not. My guess is that they would approve this cache. In that case you can delete your note once the cache is approved. Otherwise you can email the site and ask approval of your idea before you even place it.

    Navicach is another caching website.

  2. A park not allowing a virtual cache is akin to requiring a nondisclosure agreement to visit the park…you are hereby given permission to enter our park but upon leaving may not speak of or share your experiences in the park with other individuals with out the expressed permission of the park management.

There is a huge difference between giving directions to a location (a virtual cache) and leaving a physical cache at that location. In my opinion, a virtual cache on property open to the public would require absolutely no prior permission.

I’ve been using the Rayovac 3 in 1 charger and rechargeable alkaline batteries for about a year and 140 plus caches. I have 2 sets of 4 batteries that I rotate. One set is defiantly ready to be move to tv remote duty. They only last for about 3 hours in the GPS these days. The other set still give me a least a full day of caching. I have been using a set of Rayovac NiMH in my digital camera for around the same period of time and could count on one hand the number of times I have had to charge them. As soon as I get around to it I plan on moving to the NiMH for the GPS and use the rechargeable alkaline as a back up set. Overall, I have been happy with the alkaline.

In a related matter, I recently got a Palm and bought a set of NiMH AAA for it, but they wouldn’t power up. After a bit of experimentation I discovered that 1 NiMH and 1 alkaline would work, and it doesn’t matter which NiMH I put in. And yes the NiMH were fully charged. Kind of had me scratching my head. I bought another set of NiMH and got the same results. So now I’ve just given up on the NiMH for my palm and use alkaline. icon_confused.gif

They may have hid, not knowing that you were caching also. They were probably trying to be discreet about their activity, to prevent non-cachers from knowing what they were doing. That's what it seems like to me from reading the logs, I could be wrong.
