  1. It’s easier than you might think. Plug the cable into the computer and the unit. Then start easyGPS. All that you then have to do it tell easy GPS what unit you have and what com port you have it plugged into. It will then try and communicate with the unit. If it succeeds, you’re done. If it fails try changing the com port you selected and try it again.

    No drivers required at all.

  2. I would guess that The Real DesertRat has never had the opportunity to watch 9 and 8 year old siblings hunker over a GPSr debating which direction a 293 bearing is. Nor had a 2 ½ year old ask to “find cache today.” Nor had the chance to explain how salmon spawn to children when the search for a cache leads you across a stream choked with squirming fish. At first I felt somewhat offended by The Real DesertRat’s comments myself, but after reflecting on it for a few minutes, I feel that the comments must have made out of ignorance to the pleasure which both parent and child can get from geocaching. Just like I don’t seem to have the ability to comprehend why the subscription aspect has become such a big deal.

It’s a little presumptuous to speak for all charter members isn’t it? Speaking for myself, I want maximum exposure for my caches. The fun comes from the finds. My guess is that there will be a small flurry of mocaches show up initially, and then they will mostly fade out.
