  1. "Coming soon.... "insert it here" "
  2. Why isn't the data free? (another topic already covered many times) Principles.....?
  3. Sometimes, some people just need to stroke the ole ego- Ya know- its just not a good day until youve been deemed superior to someone else. Pocket queries are worth $0.00 to me. Any other "added value" my $30 could buy are also worthless to me. Being unable to search MOC caches is not a big deal to me.
  4. I have an idea - for everyone with opinions on either side of this issue: Get Over It Its only a game. Play your game, allow others to play thiers. Dont like thier way? Too Bad - Its thier game to play thier way - just as its Your game, to play Your way. We all have the right to participate however we want to - whether You agree or not. Its not Your problem or concern, so let others have thier fun - and have Your fun. It really shouldnt matter to any of us how or why others particiapte in any way they can or do. So what? Get Over It Just my .02
  5. I think leaving the business of making good containers to someone else would be a good idea for Groundspeak. IMO, Groundspeak needs to concentrate on their other nagging issues before moving into another venture. Issue more directly related to running the site, etc. There are many good, durable, waterproof containers already on the market- Id think Groundspeak would have a hard time making an impact, or making any $$ in the process. The per cost $ would prbably always be too high to be competitive.?? I agree tho- a well marked, clear cache would really help reduce the bomb scares, etc-
  6. I find that most of the hunting lines of waterproof gear are very well set up with pockets, zippers, and easy access to these. Hunters like to carry all kinds of crazy stuff (TP is a must:) )
  7. Umbrellas dont keep your legs dry, or your rear end, or your knees- Hard to bushwack with one in your hand... Poking your caching partners in the eyes is never liked... I feal the most useful thing to have is a good Gortex hat- whatever your favorite style of hat, you can probably find a gortex one. They are not cheap- but if you do anything outdoors that you might get rained on (golf, fishing, hiking, biking, canoing, etc) - having a good hat is a must. I prefer light weight gortex jackets for most of the year, but for the bad stuff in spring and fall when warmth comes into play- I find aa Filson Coat like this is the way to go. But, unfortunately, youll need to have the Liner I was graced by my grandfather, who's similar but well worn jacket was left to me when he passed away. I couldnt afford to replace it, thats for sure! Oh, and a good durable gortex pant or bib is great for when you are out in the woods, or feilds etc during or after a rain. I go thru lots of these, so any brand you find would work. I get the camo hunting style, but I use them for that more, so....
  8. Here is an example of a moving cache, which is limited to a certain park. Seems to be a similar Idea- (hidden 03/04) Traveling thru Purgatory
  9. 51 (of my 54) I think. Only have 1- And thats OK with me. . .
  10. It's still an original idea- your Is a bit different- And could develope even more into different. Besides, who knows- maybe he got it from somewhere else? Or, it would be original in your part of the country......
  11. Cool idea - Just saw one pop up here in MN that is similar- Unbroken Chain
  12. Well, here is 1 of my cache mobiles. . . edit: carsoup image
  13. If you edit your profile the boxes you need to check (for notifications) are near the top- Hope that helps=
  14. I agree 100% ! Anytime I venture into the woods, generally from Labor day on I wear at_very_least a Blaze orange ball cap. Anytime after mid September when grouse/duck season, bow deer hunting, then rifle season begin its Always a Blaze vest, hat and if needed my gloves. I also hunt, so its just second nature for me (common sense in my book) It really helps make others aware of where you are, and that you are Not the furry creature they are intent on blasting. I avoid caching in any known hunting areas, since my presence could most likely interfere with the hunting in that area. Nothing makes a guy in a tree stand madder than some fool tromping thru the area they are watching - or scaring up a flock of mallards 2 guys have been creeping on all afternoon. Angry hunters with guns............angry at You . . . . . (Of course, wearing orange allows them to track you down easier....
  15. I use a feature within my browser (Netscape, firefox- but it also works in ie) First I went to My Page then to "Search for nearest caches from your home coordinates" The then bookmark the results page. Once thats done, I go to "bookmarks", then "manage bookmarks" Your list will appear- I then L click on the GC page I just mentioned. Once it is highlighted, I then R click the bookmark and get a list of options. I select "Properties" One of the tabs/options listed is There "Schedule" I schedule my browser to check my nearsest page every 30 minutes (Can do shorter amounts of time) I also created a second bookmark, using the zip code of my cabin. Now, in the morning when I open Firefox the program will notify me if the page has been updated- And again all day as the page is updated. There are several options on how it will notify you. Not the most effective method, but a nice little tool. Hope that helps!
  16. Gander Mtn has alot of stores- Try this Store locater edit-better link
  17. I was able to get in, and make the edit to 2 of my 4 caches- Thanks for the reminder - I'm sure i would have missed it otherwise!
  18. Since most of the swag contained in the first cache is Outlawed now per GC guidelines, the original intend has kind of been lost. Wasn't there beer in one of the original hides? Pocket knives, etc- Things I would trade (up!) for, now are not allowed. Otherwise, I fall into Team Perkyperks outline.
  19. That would be me..... An OT forum? Woopeeeee
  20. My thought was, you won in July - it took them until appx Sept 15 to contact you. Thats a month and a half. I would give them at least the same amount of time to get you the prize before worrying to much.
  21. Too late for this month then huh? Cemetaries creep me out - even in the daytime- Is ir considered tresspassing to be on the cemetary grounds after closing? I know of at least 2 local ones that have the hours posted at all entrances, with a note that anyone on the grounds after close is "considered to be trespassing, and will be dealth with accordingly" Neat idea, but would have no appeal to me (creppy!)
  22. My brain tells me to bet against you making it around the rattler- Oh, and to bet Alot of $$..... I see your point tho....
  23. Sometimes finding the park, or parking area is harder than finding the cache. Sometimes, this is the hiders intention. If I feel it is needed to park legally, safely, I include it. Otherwise, It could make it a bit to easy? (PS-I have parking coords listed on 2 of my 4 hides) <edit:sloppy>
  24. I smoke, becuase I choose to. I do not pay membership dues, becuase I choose Not to- Now, where is the confusion in this? Pay them or dont, but can we Please stop arguing about the "value" of $30, or the "cost" of $3/mo?
  25. Principles are free to those who apply them. Not everything is about $$$
