  1. There was a similar topic on a German board and the people really didn't care about condoms in caches. Even if they had children they considered this as a joke, that's it. Nobody felt in any way offended by finding it. I guess that's the result of the difference between the US and Europe. We simply deal with this sexual topic completely different. A lot of Germans are quite irritated by the american morality: On the one hand every sexual content is demonised and on the other hand violence seems to be somehow ok. That shouldn't start a time-wasting debate about morality - it's just an explanation why most Europeans think a little bit different about this kind of items in caches: They don't care.
  2. I don't like this "logthetboutanddirectlogitbackintothecache" with my bugs because - I get a lot of useless mails - The TB history gets messed up - If the TB is logged in such a way at an event it might get lost Therfore you can find the following text on my TB pages:
  3. Don't place them in parks which close at night or don't place them in urban areas at all. That's what German speaking geocachers do: Austrian, German and Swiss Nightcaches
  4. Hey this is awesome!! Very cool cache P.S.: I'm German
  5. And what if the "New Offset" is in the middle of nowhere? Than the 152.4 m / 0.161 km rule isn't really useful. A field on the cache report site where you can enter how long it'd take to find the cache and how far it is from the next parking place might be better ...
  6. This is how I use the types: -Cache can be found only with the coordinates >> Traditional -Cache can be found with the description (and the coordinates) >> Multi/Offset -Cache can't be found with the description and the coordinates - you have to do some homework before hunting >> Mystery/Puzzle Also quite a lot of people in Germany would agree with it, I don't think it's the way the types are used in the US (yes there are still Eventcaches, Webcams and Letterboxes and so on ...)
  7. TICKS If you discover a tick in your skin remove it asap with tweezers but take care that you don't squeeze the body (This will inject all the waste of the tick into your body). Don't put oil on it, don't burn it, don't wait till the next day, don't do anything except removing it gently! It takes about 12-24h till a tick excretes the bacteria of lyme disease into your body. If the spot itches a little bit don't worry but if after a few days/weeks the skin around it gets red you should see a physician (pictures of lyme disease). Don't panic - not every tick is infectious. In Canada and the US it's possible to let you vaccinate against lyme disease since there exists only one microbial strain. In Europe that's not possible since there are at least five strains. Unfortunately I don't have any information about TBEV (tick-borne encephalitis virus) in Canada and the US. In Europe it's a quite wide-spread disease. TBEV can be leathal. German information about ticks ... ticks aren't that bad :

  9. I just had a look at the cache Where's In A Name and figured out the coordinates from my nick: 83° 25.48' If I choose them to be E 83° 25.48' that's somewhere in Asia where almost no geocachers live. North and South doesn't make sense as well so I only have the option of making them W 83° 25.48'. If you live near Detroit or somewhere else close to the longitude W 83° 25.48' and you want to log this cache send me a mail. Thanks Philipp
  10. Why? 'cos weapons law in the UK is quite strict as in Germany - if you come up with a real bullet you'll have to answer a lot of questions but it's a dummy anyway.
  11. from left to right (all 7.62 x 51 mm): - emtpy cartridge - blank cartridge - normal bullet - tracer bullet here you can see where the pin hit the cartridge (left): my advice: just bury it somewhere deep in the forest - you're rid of it and it doesn't matter to anything. You only get into trouble if you show it to the police ...
  12. have a look at geocaching.ru - you need a permit for a GPSr in Russia
  13. 26.3km - already tried 3 times but the place was always contaminated with muggles
  14. As you can see I'm giving my etrex a hard time. I fixed the latest bruise with silicone
  15. Sometimes the direct way between two points isn't the best ...
  16. You forgot to mention the eminent role of transmission-slip on speedos. It has a large effect at velocities above 180 km/h. The transmission-slip and therefore the measuring error can range up to 8% - that means 20 km/h deviation at 250 km/h
  17. Danke HoPri - Du sprichst mir schon wieder aus dem Herzen

  22. Where is the rule that says no? Come on guys! Nobody gets hurt if anyone logs his own cache as find. If it makes people happy, why not?!? And the rules are more like guidelines anyway Captain Barbossa
