  1. Most cache owners don't consider geocaching a silly game, and realize that rules are good! Far from being a "silly game", Geocaching is a wonderful family activity that provides meaningful fun and good times for literally millions of Americans. It fosters a love and respect of the outdoors, and promotes hiking and all sorts of outdoor physical activities. It brings family and friends together sharing common goals and memories. Of course, the downside is it litters wal-Mart parking lot lamp post skirts with stupid, useless, planet killing nanos...

  3. Wow. That seems like a whole bunch of childishness. Yes it most certainly does. As we mature tho, we realize that CHEATING RUINS THE FUN for everyone, whether it's a game in the woods , or the game of life. That's why civilized folks have developed legal systems and codes of ethics. Fair Play.
  4. For a highly documented seven year battle on signing the log for a cache way up in a tree, go here: UNCLAIMED LANDS: BRIDGE OUT
  5. Don't know-no-- don't know- don't know... thanks for your interest!!
  6. is anyone allowed to use a pink flamingo for their avatar? I want one...
  7. It has been our experience that Giving in to the threats and blackmail of bullies is never the best option, whether it's hostile warring nations, business deals or family games...
  8. Probably don't need to pay for a new meet-up group. Work thru the existing one, and plan your own meet-up!--As long as it's on the weekend TR and Rosie would probably be good to go! ((Except Saturdays during football season) or you can plan one here thru the forums... Frankly, I don't see why your meet-ups can't be EVENTS - as long as they have a two-week posting--and the caching is not the main object of the event --like the met and greet Taco eating at the last Beach- Run meetup...

Getting ready to head out there now Rick. We'll have it back in the game before the sun sets!!! Are_we_there_yet? HAS FIXED IT ALREADY! THANKS!
  10. I found it! "Challenge caches incorporate special logging requirements and are listed as Mystery/Puzzle caches. Typically they require the seeker to have previously met a reasonable geocaching-related qualification (Waymarking and Wherigo qualify too, of course) such as first finding a cache in every county in your state. If you are thinking of creating such a cache, please include a note to the reviewer demonstrating either that you have met the challenge yourself, or that a substantial number of other geocachers would be able to do so."
  11. can we get a quote or link that discusses challenge caches from the guidelines?

  13. Really? We appreciate all hiders who "toss out" new caches for us to find, whether they are heroic ammo cans on top of the mountain or film cans under a lamp skirt. They are not "bad guys." They are the people who keep this obsession going. WE are happy to help CO's with maintenance of their caches and have done so scores of times, and appreciate the network of dedicated cachers who help us with ours all the time.
  14. how about a picnic? hot dogs are good.
  15. Machetes? What, are we on Safari here??????
  16. How clever of Groundspeak to change Jimmy Buffet's language and replace it with Bobby Bowden-speak! I'm impressed! Is that automated or does a moderator have to do it??? There should be some notice that this has been done, so as not to provoke misquotation issues. Neither I nor Mr. Buffet have ever, ever used that word. We're from south Florida and Gators, not the Panhandle and Seminoles... Automated nanny software. Unless the poster knew it was gonna happen so just typed dadgum to start with. NO! I quoted the lyrics correctly, as best I can remember them with my Margarita-soaked brain! I wonder what genius chose "dadgum" to substitute for "dadgum". I would have chose "Durn" I think that's closer and not so regional...
