  1. Yikes. Of course not. Nastiness should not be retalliated with nastiness. I have had a constructive conversation with Scoob. I hope that the Found log will be restored soon, and that the TB logs stuck in a now disabled cache will be allowed to travel freely soon. After all, the purpose of a TB hotel is to facilitate their movement, not to restrict it with artificial rules.
  2. For me, the break is on April 12th. Nothing since. Also Seattle area. For me too, this is my biggest complaint about the site's functionality.
  3. You are right! This is only the second deletion notice we have received and hadn't realized the link was attached. Here it is... http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?LU...0b-400be7ad8d76 I am posting a NOTE to that cache, with a link to the deleted log. Let's all do that.
  4. You did the right thing. As to the deleted log: Write a warning note about the TB bug hotel to several caches in the area, so people visiting the area will know what (not) to expect.
  5. Travis, I don't know how your "for the record" statement is relevant, and it is certainly just a personal opinion. TC (existing since last November, not "for years") is a different game; it doesn't compete with GC, and many people play on both sites. This includes many GC approvers. As to the rest of your message, you're totally right, of course, and no sensible person would disagree with you. Indeed, Terracaching has just updated its FAQ to say exactly that. You can read it here. (Registration required)
  6. Nor are the checkmarks for caches found updated regularly. This problem keeps coming back. I wonder whether the current server overhaul will improve this...
  7. These are not trackable coins -- they're yours to keep or trade. BTW, the web site is www.idahogeocachers.org. Steve Yep - you're right about the URL. Sorry. Thanks for the information!
  8. Ehm... I found an Idaho Geocoin in a cache last week, but there is no number on it. The referenced website (idahogeocaching.org) doesn't mention the coins. Do I need to log it somewhere, and if so, how?
  9. I have a list of night caches here. Is there a cache among the night caches you did a few weeks ago (or that you know of) that isn't on this list? Let met know, so I can update the list. Thanks! Under the clock Tower- A Night cache GCMDDM Added to the Nightcaches List. I did Nocturnal Navigator (near Anacortes) two nights ago. Probably the best night cache I've done so far. Recommended!

  11. I think that's a good idea, S99. The funny thing is that before I found out, I told my wife that it's exactly right for us, where my vegetarian son, and my wife and daughter with their idiosyncratic food preferences and my perfectly normal self could all just get what we wanted and have a nice meal together. If it's just an error they made in my case, then don't dump them. If they overcharged everyone else as well, they should know that they lost our constituency.
  12. The price was $9.95 + Tax + 15% tip. In my case, that worked out to $24.96, which is what I signed for. I'll check the bank statement when I get home. The price was $9.90 for an adult, and $0.60 x age for a kid. So our bill should have been: $9.90 + $4.20 = $14.10 + 8.9% tax = $ 1.25 + 15% tip = $ 2.11 Total: = $17.46 They made me sign for $30.20, which I did without double-checking. That's a mistake I won't make again. On my credit card statement I now see a deduction of $34.73. Now that's a discrepancy I remembered. So I called them. I got someone who insisted that I had only been charged $30.20, and that I would get a $12.40 refund. I don't know how she decided on that number, but it's close enough for me. I suggest, though, that you all check your statements, and call Fresh Foody at 360-370-7999 if it isn't correct. There might be more curious mistakes. BTW - isn't a tip meant to be a service charge? This was a self-service buffet! But I won't quibble about that. For the rest, BTW, I recommend the place. Good choice, good food.
  13. And on a very different note: I checked my credit card statement yesterday, and found that a 15% surcharge was added ON TOP OF the amount that I had put down my signature for, which already included a surcharge, and which in itself appears to have been based on a charge for two adults, rather than an adult and a 7 year old. I liked Fresh Foody, but I will contact them about this. I suggest you all check your credit card statements as well.
  14. Yeah, he was a positive surprise! I wanted to talk to him a bit, but he disappeared in the middle, while I was focusing on Rose. Most children were sitting with their parents, and many of them might have been bored. The highlight for Rose was the special children's raffle. perhaps at future events like this, there should be a special kids table? Or what about a special geokiddie event (parents welcome too?)
  15. Hope they're from down here and not another Puget Sounder. Stump, for all I know, PNWadmin is YOU!
  16. I'd like to do that, too.I have several night caches close to my house that I still need to do. Maybe we should organize a Night of the Night Caches event. People will follow their own itinerary, and bump into each other on the trails. We'd then have a joint breakfast before dispersing (or do some day-caching for desert [])
  17. London in May, Italy and Switzerland in December. I'll be happy to move some TBs.
  18. I can think of one aspect which distinguishes caches in Kitsap county (and the chunk of Pierce on this side of the bridge), and that's the over-abundance of night caches, of which there is a higher concentration than in any other area I know. If you start at sunset, you won't be done by sunrise. Actually, I have plans of spending a night that way, sometime. I am compiling a Bookmark List of Puget Sound night caches (not just those on the West Side of the Sound). If I missed something, let me know.
  19. I did indeed mean you, WSR, but as I said, but it was just your tone that seemed over the top. I agree with you on all your points, and endorsed them. Supposedly existing features ought to actually exist. Malfunctioning features are annoying, and making them work is more important than adding more whistles and bells. I know Jeremy is working on it all. About the map problem he specifically has said that he's working on it. Sometimes I wish, though, that he would allow input on - or at least share - his list of priorities.
  20. Bump... I got another call from 4Chin Seeker. Many of his caches are still available. Please don't respond in this thread, but contact him by phone: 425-931-9980
  21. They wouldn't be junky if they worked the way they are supposed to work. The OP didn't ask for a new feature, he asked for the debugging of an existing feature which used to work perfectly in the past, but hasn't been for a few months, and which we have been promised many times that it would be fixed soon. I too use workarounds with other maps, but still, nothing would be as easy as the abillty to quickly view a certain area without first making a pocket query which one may never use, downloading it, importing it into GSAK, exporting it to a mapping format, and then reopeing that in the mapping software. I too think the OP went over the top a bit with his money-back attitude, but hey, that too is a legitimate opinion, and the problem he addresses is real. It was inevitable that at some point, someone with an entitlement attitude would phrase the question in a less polite way then many of us have so far.
  22. Of course. You get an entry stamp to the European Union when you enter, and an exit stamp when you leave. I'm surprised you even managed to find someone to give you a stamp at the French-Italian border, as those borders are as open as the border from Colorado to Utah - you just drive through and wave at the sign.
  23. I think a blue carpet would be called for.
