  1. I've got a new travel bug that I'm preparing to release into the wild. I'm curious for some feedback on whether or not the idea will work. If you could do me a favor and check out the bug's page and let me know what you think, I would appreciate it! Thanks!
  2. Perhpas I'll have better odds winning a Jeep. Personally, I think the low numbers should be handed out to Cachers born in WA Graduated High School in WA Graduated college in WA Found first cache in WA Placed first cache in WA Uh... First letter of caching name starts with "C" That should do it... On a serious note, any idea how many orders we are up to?
  3. The only point that you did not list is "support of the website that makes all this happen." That is my primary benefit. The rest is just a thank you from TPTB. Disclaimer: I'm in no way saying that non-members are unsupportive of the site. Members just had the financial opportunity to do so.
  4. Now you're starting to sound like one of those beg-a-mercials. Nah, that would sound like: How much would you expect to pay for this service? Not $0.15 a day like you may be thinking. Not $0.14 or $0.13. In fact, it isn't even $0.12. If you call today, you can have all this for the amazing low price of $0.085 a day. PayPal is standing by...
  5. HA! Everyone is being polled in this thread! Since we are voting, I vote "yes." Why not? The reason they are disallowed now is because when TPTB wanted our opinion, they would ask, but in an Off Topic forum, who cares? Only bad thing is that the polls would probably have to remain Off Topic and not be about Geocaching.
  6. Also what is script and macro and automated means, and how does that apply to our photos and essays basically is my question. Thanks so much. It appears as if you are talking about two different things. The sweepstakes where the prize is a real Jeep is the one that you cannot have... The contest where Jeep gear (worth about $30) is being given away to the best photo and essay by a nomination process is a totally different beast. There may be rules about not photoshopping your photo entry, but I've not seen it. Since part of the scoring for the photos includes the ability for it to be used in Official Jeep Promotions, I doubt any photoshopped entry will make it far. This is just my take on it, so you may wish to wait for an official word.
  7. Hey, Shunra. I'm deeply saddened by your story and really wish that everything comes to a closure in the near future. How is your daughter doing? With a 1yr old daughter myself, I'm instantly going over in my head how I'd react and I see myself probably doing the same thing. Do you think you would have acted any differently if you and she were the only ones there? I'm reassured that you were lucky enough to have someone else with you. In a couple of years, I would no doubt be taking my daughter out caching so that I can get into my pre-baby caching pace. Even though this happened far from my stomping grounds, it really does freak me out a bit. Here's hoping that the coward is brought to justice.
  8. I have a cache that is a 4" PVC pipe with a peanut butter jar inside. Worked great and I got to have a normal sized cache inside. Why can't your PVC pipe be the cache? The cache, Liberty Bay Resort Cache: And inside: If your cache is the micro and not the PVC pipe, I think it should be categorized as micro.
  9. The OP said the coins won't be arriving at headquarters until September 20th. Sounds like it won't make it to the Potluck on time. BTW - I had found one of the postcard travel bugs from one of your past events. Nice idea!
  10. Haha! Same here! Mine is Tuesday! Can't wait.
  11. I got the following error message after purchasing some Travel Bugs via the PayPal option. Certainly not serious, but curious. I thought y'all should know!
  12. Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner!
  13. Wow. Like a soap opera. Or a broken record. Popcorn anyone?
  14. That type of log should probably not be available for Mystery caches. Someone could give away the final cache location.
  15. So, any official news lately? Are we changing the year to 2005? Official version of the coin ready for official approval? Ready to begin taking orders? Anything else need to be done? A.K.A. How can we help?
  16. What do you have in mind? Wooden nickel, plastic, poker chip, metal? Searches for these types of terms should come up with loads of discussions on these forums. I also notice you've posted this to the Travel Bug forum. Do you want to track them? Tracking isn't easy to accomplish and if you've got a really cool item, tracking is really not worth it as it probably won't travel far.
  17. That solves my query problem! I selected all the states in the list. Thanks for the help!
  18. I've had a pocket query set up for some time now that will run and return all the caches I've found. I can easily check the status of the caches I've found with this query. It has been working great for some time. Then I did something stupid. I went and found a cache over six hundred miles away. When my query ran, I didn't find them in it and I was a little confused. I decided to check to see what the radius I had chosen was and it was set to 100mi. No problem, I'll set it larger. I just added a zero; 1000 miles. What the heck, why not add another; 10000 miles. That should do it. Updated the query and rechecked my query. The value was reset to 500 miles. So, is there a limit to the range you can use in a query? If so, why? I can see limiting the results to five hundred caches, but why limit the radius? Thanks!
  19. The link leads to a site that says "coming soon". Yeah, it used to work. It has been coming soon for a long time.
  20. Oh, they've not yet started the ordering process. It has been indicated that a new thread will be created to start taking orders, or perhaps they will do it via email.
  21. I don't think changing the date to 2005 would mean we wouldn't be allowed to get them until January 1, 2005. Other than changing the date, it could be hard to change the design to include the anniversary of Geocaching. For now that should stay the same unless the design has not been sent to the mint, NavDog has more free time, and we all agree upon the change. I'd say put 2005 on 'em and distribute them no later than they would have been distributed with 2004 on 'em.
  22. Token Factory gave me my: I've also started distributing some Write-On-Pencils that were cheap and easy to get. I can't tell you how hard it was just to find a golf pencil and these guys got 'em customizable. Yay!
  23. I would prefer to receive one and only one email from the site delayed by up to 30 minutes detailing the log and, if applicable, the descriptions of the photos that were uploaded for caches I own or I am watching. We currently do not receive emails for log edits, so any late photo additions should be silent as well. I would not want to see one email for the text log and then one email per uploaded image. That seems to be a waste of bandwidth on everyone's part.
  24. That's the default thingie you get if you don't upload a personal pic. I thought about leaving mine, as in, "Hi! I'm a menacing silhouette!" No, the one I used to see was really small, like 10px square.
