  1. I am not sure what is wanted here either. Bear & Ducky, I apply the guidelines to everyone the same way, 1 find or 1000 finds. You want reporters? When I ask for extra infomation about a cache, I get, "What? I am not a new cacher! I know how to place a cache!" Now I can imagine if I email back, "Please hold while someone verifies that your cache meets the guidelines". I will email you if the need arises for your region. In one sense, you don't want more rules, on another you want more hands in the pot. If you have a problem with me, please email approvers@Groundspeak.com . I also invite you to post your cache submissions to the forum if you think I miss judged them. All I asked was that the guidelines be met and I did not disapprove your caches, you archived them before they were approved. Cache-tech Geocaching.com Admin
  2. I was just about to post this. Right now I have been asked by Ontario provincal Parks and the Quebec provincal parks not to allow any new caches until regulations are in place. I have met with Quebec wardens and they were banning caches outright, but I think I can get regulations in place. I have another meeting soon with another Quebec Park and will follow up on the first meeting soon. The wardens want heavy restrictions and regulations that may be relaxed after a test period. I have also attempted to contact the Ontario Parks so regulations can be worked out. I want to resolve this with both park systems as soon as I can so I do not have to refuse/delay approval of any more caches. I have no recent news about the Ontario Parks. The Federal Parks have not been contacted and I have not noticed any caches being pulled in Federal parks. That has been the only time I have contacted a park system, when the have pulled caches as in Quebec and Ontario. I will post the regulations here when they are drafted if possible for input. Quebec parks may be more of a compliance with little input as they were planning an outright ban. So right now, new cache placement may be delayed in Ontario and denied in Quebec in the provincal parks only. Quebec parks have heavy fines for going off trail, $50 to $1000 depending where you wonder off to. I have picked up 2 caches and will pick up a 3rd on my next meeting, resulting in the release of 1 Travel Bug. There has been no outright ban yet and none talked about in Ontario or with the Federal Parks. Cache-tech Geocaching.com Admin
  3. Some time this morning all of the forums had a problem, the Canada Forum along with a few of the other forums are still affected. All of the threads are still here, just most of the topics have been sort of reversed. Up until earlier today, all of the recent posts are on page 16 and so on, therefore the oldest on page 1 except for todays new posts. Jeremy and Elias have been notified. The forum should be resorted soon, I have enjoyed reading some of the older topics Cache-tech Geocaching.com Admin

  5. Sorry to disappoint, but the Canada Forum seems to have been reversed while all of the Forums are having problems today, all of the Threads are intact. If you post a new topic or reply and your post does not appear right away, wait awhile before reposting. The server is storing the posts and they will appear later. I am deleting the duplicates Cache-tech Geocaching.com Admin
  6. I think that this thread has said enough, the Bashing Station is now closed. Cache-tech Geocaching.com Admin

    Why?

Please keep the language, no matter how is it spelled, and name calling out of the forums. I do not want to have to edit out from anyones thread. I closed the other thread because it was an argument from the beginning. Cache-tech Geocaching.com Admin

Public forum posts should be reserved for matters of interest to the general community. This thread is being locked, Thank you. Cache-tech Geocaching.com Admin
  9. I have reviewed your cache submission and also looked at the caches you mentioned above. Only 2 were submitted this year, and 1 of the other virtual caches (Waterfall) was a traditional cache turned virtual after it went missing, so it bypassed the admin. The guidelines on virtual caches were tightened up and the approvers are being consistant with these guidelines. I also would not have approved your cache on the vacation rule, as well as a plaque not being unique enough in this area. Sorry. I alse enjoy logging a good virtual and have visited the area your cache was submitted, Multnomah Falls is beautiful. Cache-tech Geocaching.com Admin
  10. From an approver point of view, this could cause a problem. Some of the park systems I deal with are talking about banning Geocaching within their boundaries. We are working out some restrictions and regulations, as this is better then a ban in place now for 2 park systems. Now if someone goes out and moves a cache from a permitted location, to another location even if its nearby, it may be viewed differently by a warden of a park that may stumble across an unsactioned cache. When the restrictions are in place, I am going to have a placed with permission note on the page in these parks on new caches, but this may not be noted older caches that were already placed and checked by the wardens. I hope the pirates also enjoy Geocaching and respect these caches to ensure keeping our parks open to caching. Cache-tech Geocaching.com Admin
  11. Hi, caches that were approved before do not set a precedent for other caches. Those caches may have been grandfathered in, as this one was placed a over a year ago. I follow the guidelines set out here, http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx Cache Permanence As the Frequently Asked Questions indicate, geocaches can be hidden in a location for a finite period of time, depending on the environment and the decision of the cache owner. However, when you report a cache on the web site, geocachers should (and will) expect the cache to be there for a realistic and extended period of time. Therefore, caches that have the goal to move, or temporary caches (ex: Caches hidden for events) will not be approved. If you wish to hide caches for an event, bring printouts to the event and hand them out there. For further discussion, please contact me directly. Cache-tech Eastern Canada Admin
  12. Hi, you did not email me directly with your concerns, as I denied your cache. The cache page you quoted cannot be seen by anyone else, you have to post the details of unapproved caches here, the link is no good until the cache has been approved. I found 2 problems with your submission, the first, you are from out of town, Indiana as you stated here. With no indication on how your cache will be maintained, I cannot approved vacation caches. The second not mentioned here is your submission was for a traveling cache, which is not permitted at this time. Please email me directly at cache-tech@geocachingadmin.com and we can further discuss your submission if you would like. Thanks. Cache-tech Eastern Canada Admin
  13. Hi and welcome to Geocaching. If you have any questions, you can email me directly at cache-tech@GeocachingAdmin.com as I will be reviewing your cache submissions. I also keep strict attention to the 0.1 mile rule as well as all of the other guidelines, like what not to put into a cache (food, a knife (pocket or utility are the most common), fireworks). Hope you enjoy this hobby/sport as much as I do, have fun. Cache-tech Eastern Canada Admin Cache-tech Eastern Canada Admin
  14. Ok, just read some of the logs quickly and seen trespassing in there somewhere. I posted a note to the cache and when it is picked up I will archive it. Cache-tech
  15. Is this cache on private property? If someone picks the cache up will they be trespassing. I will look into the cache tonight, if someone picks the cache up, please email me and I will archive the cache. Cache-tech Geocaching.com Admin Cache-tech
  16. Altho Peggy's cove is a beautiful spot, I felt a micro cache could be placed instead of a vacation virtual. I regret I have never been there, the pictures I have are nice. The question comes down to, can a traditional cache be placed here and is it worthy of a virtual cache. Thank you. Cache-tech Geocaching.com Admin
