  1. Who is planning the springtime Borrego event? We aren't going to wait until next fall are we?

really enjoyed that last blair valley trip. there are still a few places out there that i have yet to see. perhaps once again there or maybe up near palm canyon? superstitions? what month is best for all....i'll check and post the weekends

gotta thank parsa for doing one heck of a grand job at organizing the caching adventures at blair valley.

  2. Center Population Project

And then check out this website linked from the discussion:

    Center of Population Project

Man, we got the little flag on the coin in the wrong spot! Oh well. I still love the coins just the way they are :P

our flag is at approximately the GEOGRAPHICAL center of California. the center of population project measures the center of the states HUMAN poupulation, which i gather is somewhere near los angeles.

  3. Hey Dillon Dad, what grade are your students? I'm considering teaching some of the kids in the cub pack how to geocache because my son was able to pick up on real fast. Was wondering how old your group is, how many are there and does everyone get to participate?

i work with 7/8th grade students with emotional disabilities and learning disabilities. (9 of them) taken them 3 times. most seem to enjoy the hunt. half can actually follow the gps. a few just want to run so i give them a hundred foot mark and off they go. they are still learning how to "think" geocaching so they can find it before i do.

i have a 6 year old and a 3 year old and they love it also. the six year old is just starting to understand how to follow the gps. i just tel her watch to see if the numbers get smaller.

  4. i was down at the Tecolote Toybox2 yesterday with my school kids. a lot of the poison oak has dropped its leaves. looks like a leave less bush with lots of sticks in it. as far as i know you can still get it from the sticks in the dormant season. can't wait to get out and find this one.

  5. This weekend I will be deploying a multi-cache hunt in the Clairemont area. I've been geocaching now for two months and I figure it is time I become a cache owner. I've done a lot of reading about placing, reporting, dos and don'ts. I've researched my waypoints and now just need some free daylight hours to put it all in place. If anyone has any more words of wisdom beyond that in the FAQs and guidelines I'd love to hear it.

watch out for areas of poison oak. many of the canyon areas in clairmont are abundant in poison oak.

on another note. its time to get your order in for the geocoins. saw the first one last night. it looks GREAT! hope to get a picture of it up on the thread soon.

  6. can't stand tb hotels with certain rules applying other than take one and leave one. we have one nearby that requires 15 tb in at all times. makes me want to take them all and leave just one. i would not be happy to see mine in there. some sit there for months cause no one stops by with a tb.

  7. After coming back from a wonderful weekend in the desert with geocachers, it has be overshadowed by a horrific tragedy of fire. Although we were packed and ready to evac, we didn't have to. Out thoughts and prayers go out to those of us who have suffered the loss of their homes. If you need anything...drop a line and I'll be there.

What does the tracking have to do with the final design?

If it's just the space for the numbers I'm sure we can imagine it without that on there.

    Let's see 'em.

Patience my precious, yess, patience. it's coming soon

Yes I could anwer all those questions, but I don't want to step on any toes if Bobkat92 is planning something. I'll let him say what he wants about the ordering and the money stuff, or I'll tell you all how we did it if Bobkat92 says it's cool.

  16. GeoRocks! you definitely rock. love the design. had a couple of suggestions/questions:

could you put a 49er or a bear in the compass rose?

change the web addres to the state slogan(?): The Golden State?

what program did you use to do this?

    who is cageocoins.com?

i also liked the california in cursive? looked more stylish.

once again....great job on the coin!!!

  17. Whew! i made the post and then realized what how much time it would take. Thanks Parsa! glad the event is still got a head of steam.

Tomorrow I'm checking on reservations at Butterfield Ranch and Agua Caliente.

Anyone interested in camping at one of those sites? Agua Calient goup must be at least ten.

one last thought....is everyone gonna bring something to put in a cache?

  18. sounds like the weekend of oct 24-26 is a go. so i don't mind getting on with creating the event cache page. just wanted some input...

    blair valley

    butterfield ranch

    agua caliente

seems to me like butterfield ranch is in between. it has new ownership, store and pools and i think a kid area. and from now until dec. has cheap camping: full hookup & 2 tent max $10.00; no hookup & 1 tent max $5.00; full hookup rv $15.00.

would this be a place to meet for a cache run?

Blair valley a place to meet?

agua calient campground a place to meet?
