  1. In case I forgot to mention it Groundspeak did decline the use of the swastika on the trackable item. Therefore, I will go with the nice suggestion of the leatherman symbol in that section of the trackable coin. I too doubt many of these coins go into the wild but then again that is your choice. I have NOT decided yet to do a non trackable with a decal to replace the leatherman symbol or not. I will let you know on that later. As far as the "track at geocaching.com" and the actual code, they are being moved to the top "spine" on the coin so when you see the coin fron either side you will see the actual Hindenburg name and the actual ship number on the sides. The bottom, of course, will hve the passenger area and engines on each side of the bottom. So, speaking on the historical facts, How many survivors of the Hindenburg are still alive? I will let you do the research on that. I doubt if the kids on that fateful day knew anything about any symbol on the tail fins or cared about them then. And was the explosion ever deemed as intentional or an accident? thanks, MO Pirate PS: FYI, this war was more than 50 years ago. and no mention of the vast number of "Native Americans" that disappeared from earth. But that can be a topic for another discussion as we all know this could go on and on.
  2. I think we have decided to go with the leatherman symbol in place of the historically correct swastika so that Groundspeak and all countries will allow it. I am still mulling over whether or not to do a limited run in non trackable with a decal that can be placed so collectors can have an accurate coin here in the US. I will most likely wait and see what the costs involved are but for now the main run (which will be trackable) will have the other symbol in that spot. Thanks MO Pirate
  3. Is this the image or cross you refer to? I put this on the forum to get feedback and that is what I am getting. I am told the mint usually sends it to Groundspeak at final art approval BUT has sent it over now after all the questions on this forum. thanks to all for their comments. I am not arguing for or against. I would not like to go against Germanys prohibition of the swastika. Maybe it could be replaced by something but then it is not factual. Wew ill see after all the info is evaluated. thanks again, MO Pirate
  4. Very cool, nice design work!
  5. agreed I have not heard of any objections yet so maybe the mint is waiting on final art before going to Groundspeak. Personally I think it would be a bad move for them to start selecting things like this to reject and some other things that they may approve. I guess it is their decision tho. Since I am a Historian, I want it portrayed the way it was, My parents both fought in WWII so I sure as heck am not supporting any of the Nazi sentiments. This stuff could go on and on. American had a Revolutionary war so lets not do any symbols to make the British mad, or in the Civil war lets not do any Confederate flags to make anyone mad, etc etc. History is History. So what I am saying is I don't see how they can OK some but not others. and that is just my personal opinion. I will wait til I get all the adjustments made with the mint and see if anything shakes out.
  6. I have the art submitted to the mint and they are making some adjustments. I have heard of the prohibition so that is my concern. I may have them mint some with and some without. It is not a promotion or vindication of the Nazi emblem or what it stood for but merely a historical representation of what the actual Hindenburg looked like. Again, I might have them do a run with and then do another run without. I believe in the models they are transfers you can opt to place on the model or leave off if you would rather. I think most people (over here anyway) would want it on there to depict the actual replication of the historical ship. In Germany I am sure it has a more strict interpretation. It is one reason I am posting it here to get feedback to see what I should do. AND I thank you for your input as I have sold many Titanic geocoins to Germany geocachers/collectors. again thanks, anyone else? MO Pirate
  7. they were a little more expensive to make than my TITANIC coin w/pathtag but I am hoping to keep them at $18 also for the set. I will post when I have them. But remember I think it will be early April.
  8. I have a design submitted at the mint for a new coin to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Hindenburg diaster on May 6, 1937. I should have them in April I think. It is a huge 3D 3" air ballon in Satin Silver with all the features of a mini derigible. It is trackable at geocaching.com. A p-tag will also be included in the set. Let me know what you think and any comments. Should I have some made without the German Marking (swastika)for our German geocachers? Or is it ok since it is not a promotion of it but a historically accurate reference only.
  9. Yes, I have lots of version 2. Ineed your email and I can invoice you for 2. Shipping has gone up a little for europe and even less for Canada and US has stayed the same ($3.50).
  10. Please let me know when you receive your coins so I can stop worrying about the mail. Thanks.
  11. Do you have any left? Would you be willing to trade some of the difference for my Titanic 100 year anniversary geocoin/pathtag combo coin? It is here on the forums and in 2 versions? Let me know please. thanks, mo pirate
  12. I have had several (8 or so) geocoins made. I have used Oakcoins, and Direct Mint. I am currently using Direct Mint. I got good results from Oakcoins too. My latest coin (Titanic 100 year Anniversay coin is huge and I had 250 of version 1 and 250 of version 2 mfg. They are trackable and have an icon. I also did the Pony Express Sesquicentennial in a 2" size (qty 500)with Oakcoins. This many would run you about (depending on your art, finish and special requirements) $8 each give or take for this many at a larger 2" size. I would say to shop around but given your timeframe it may be getting close. Good Luck!

  20. Hope these images come thru ok. Mainly the colors changes on the iceberg and water with some glitter colors also. Another item was the rope, instead of just tied in a knot it is now looped and crimped with brass pieces to be more realistic. Hope you like it. Price is still the same at $18 with shipping of $3.50 US, $4.50 Canada, and $5.50 to Europe. Maybe I should have made this new coin a new thread????? Coins will not be available until middle of January as an expected ship date so I hope to get them then.
  21. Do you have any sample pictures? Yes, I will have it next week. One little glitch needs rectified. (I am so picky!)
