  1. If you scroll down to the bottom of the Listing page while in the app, you will find, "Open in Browser".  I'm not sure how to force it to the browser to begin with, so that's how I usually have done it.

  2. I think that this is one of those areas where Reviewer judgement probably comes into play.  I know in my area, places like Yosemite National Park ($30.00 US) and Alcatraz National Park (~$40.00 US) can get up there in terms of entrance fees (and ferry ride for Alcatraz, as private water craft are not allowed to land at the dock).  Both are run by government agencies, so there's probably some consideration for that fact.

On the other hand, Disneyland (~$97.00 US) has some older Virts, and I don't think that sort of thing would pass Review nowadays for both its commercial nature and the relatively high entrance fee.

Seems like the line is drawn mostly along Government/Non profit and obviously commercial and private.  Some leeway for Earthcaches is allowed on this topic, but that may depend on how unique the geologic feature is.   I'm not sure where the ceiling on cost is on that particular issue.

    YMMV

  3. For what it’s worth, before the advent of PGC Checkers it would have been exponentially more tedious depending on the Challenge.

In my area, everyone pretty much knows the “usual suspects” who qualifies. Chances are, if they don’t make the cut, the Challenge may be deemed unreasonable until such time that they do qualify.

I’ve also heard that some consideration may be given if there are a few folks pretty close. Other than that well trod approach, Appeals might offer a small glimmer of hope.

Nothing in the Guidelines or the Help Center supports this notion.  Is there more to this story, other than academic curiosity?

  5. Related to the recent thread on the subject of bogus Discovery logs:

    https://forums.geocaching.com/GC/index.php?/topic/354381-falsely-discovering-tbscoins/

It would be helpful to be able to selectively turn off email notifications for one or all of the trackables in my collection.  Realizing that the long term solution might be quite some time in the future, I would cheerfully ignore this problem if I had the ability to stop the emails from filling up my inbox.

The current workaround of locking all my trackables is not ideal, and seems a bit unfair to the legitimate Users out there that are using the service as it was intended.

If this option is already available, I sure didn't see it in my account settings.

I agree, if brought back, webcams should be done on a case by case basis to ensure they'd be sustainable, good quality caches.

Yes, the "Wow!" Factor was tried with Virtuals on their long slow descent to grandfathering, but the idea was not sustainable, nor consistent within the Reviewing Community, which was much smaller then, compared to today.

To be honest, if there was an option to donate $xxx a price tag to place a new grandfathered cache, like an individual webcam I'd do it.

It's not likely that a few hundred dollars will cover the cost of Developer time to implement a custom job like you propose.  If you have some money to burn, you might consider putting together a Geo Tour:

What world is this person living in?

    Probably an echo chamber.

I really think that punishing and banning people is the wrong direction for HQ to go on this issue.   Trackables will be coming up on its 20 year anniversary of its inception next year, and maybe the game has outgrown the old method of logging these things.  Maybe its time to retire the old method of trackable logging and come up with something completely new.

This recent FB issue is just one of several, and has been going on for quite some time, this being the most recent iteration.  This is just becoming a game of whack-a-mole, which is probably what the author of the FB page is really trying to accomplish.

  8. I've read on a couple of threads that it typically takes 24 hours for the Stats to update for Premium Members like yourself, and a bit more infrequently for regular Members.   Some of that may depend on other issues going on behind the scenes that we can't see, that require disabling of certain sub routines that take up overhead while they are trying to make fixes and such.  Just a theory.  I know it's not instantaneous.

  9. Ignoring the CHS email may or may not lead to an annoying Disable Note from a Reviewer. Ignoring a Disable Note from a Reviewer will almost 100% of the time lead to an Archived Listing.

Your options are to either Enable the Listing with a quick explanation that the maintenance needs might be a bit overstated, or leave the Listing Disabled and post a Note giving a time frame of when maintenance will get done.

As much as I can sympathize with the burden of maintenance requirements for a CO, it’s also not a lot of fun for a potential Finder to spend time and energy for a DNF.

    ...is not being very considerate.

Yep, you're right.  You want to know what else is inconsiderate?  Posting hundreds/thousands of tracking numbers on social media (not pointing fingers at you).  I'm not an isolated case, and the anger and frustration is getting louder.

I Unlocked > Marked as Missing > Locked.

Hopefully that will take care of it.  If not, please contact HQ to remove it from your Profile.

  11. You could request your local Reviewer to Publish your Listing at a specific date/time, but you have no control over who goes out and looks for the cache once it's Published and live on the website.  It might be best to beta test the Listing with your future fiance before Publication.

    Congratulations!

  12. The quickest way to report it would be through a Needs Archived Log which notifies the local Reviewer.  In a situation like that, I might also follow up with contacting HQ directly through the Help Center contact process.

Without further information, it sounds like something changed between the time the Listing was Published and when you went looking for it.  Stuff happens, and the cache owner needs to adjust (aka Archive the Listing).

I think you're missing the point.

It's more of a privacy issue really.

When I log out and try and look at your Profile, I get the following message.  That seems like adequate privacy for my purposes.  To further segregate this sort of issue to the level of PM, seems a bit much in my opinion.   The User that sent you the "nasty message" has possibly violated  the TOU that they agreed to follow when they registered.   Rather than upending the system to satisfy this perceived risk, it sounds easier to report them to HQ as people suggest, block them in the Message Center if that was the means they used to transmit this "nasty message", or ignore them.

The subject of a private image gallery has come up once or twice before, and it seems by the lack of response from HQ on the subject that the solution is to not download images that you wouldn't want the entire world to see, and to keep them private in the first place.

    (is that a throw down?)

Depends.  Technically, a throwdown is described in the related Help Center article like this:

" A “throwdown” is a container placed by a geocacher who cannot find the original cache. "

If they were a previous Finder, and had merely taken on the maintenance duties unofficially (several problems with this scenario which I'll elaborate later), then technically, it doesn't fit the HQ definition of a throwdown, although it can still create similar issues.

I can’t decide if it’s better to maintain caches to keep them going or report as NA to clear the map for new caches.

On the whole, it's better to Archive the Listing in my opinion, rather than unofficially "adopt" it.  Some of the cons of maintaining abandoned caches is:

    1. You won't be able to update the coordinates if the need arises to relocate the cache for whatever reason.

    2. You won't be able to Edit the Listing page with updated Descriptions or Hints (e.g. change the container size, difficulty, etc.)

    3. You won't be able to maintain other aspects of the Listing page, such as bogus log entries or spoiler photos.
