  1. When do you get the paper, and how do the caches get on the paper? At home or in the field? Pen or pencil or printer? If in the field, and printer, why can't they be on a memory stick as a CSV file instead?
  2. Thanks for the suggestion but the problem persists; I tested your suggestion and downloaded the relevant section of MD and unfortunately the trails are missing. That's odd, because when I download from there I see all the trails and unpaved roads I put on OpenStreetMap.
  3. Try garmin.openstreetmap.nl for maps. Turn up the detail on your GPSr and BaseCamp to high or highest. Zoom in to 7 miles or closer. Do you know the source of the OSM images on GC.com? I would assume direct from OpenStreetMap. If so garmin.openstreetmap.nl should have the trails.
  4. Yup, that was what I thought as well More likely Garmin does. You don't think REI creates those discounts on their own do you?
  5. What "screen"? Web updated is an application you download and install from Garmin. You run it with your unit plugged in via USB. Well, the "screen" that shows up on the Web Updater after you've updated your unit software and you hit "next". It's a scrolling pop up that lists all the voices and languages I don't have.
  6. The folder name is \Garmin\CustomMaps (no space). The CustomMap files should be KMZ format. IMG format files should go in the \Garmin folder.
  7. You should be able to run the regular web updater and it will offer you those voices. I run the web updater as a stand-alone application on my computer and don't go through myGarmin, dashboard, etc... Thanks, sviking. I've seen that screen, but never scrolled through it
  8. To elaborate for more visually inclined readers: The locus of points shared by two spheres is a circle. The locus of points shared by three spheres is the intersection of two circles (two points, the circles being created by each sphere intersecting one other). The locus of points shared by four spheres is one of the two points defined by the two intersecting circles. So you need 4 satellites at minimum.
  9. Did not know that....thanks. I'll study my daughter's 1350 some more. I've got a 1490, US&Canada. I found Yeti in the Garmin Garage, but I can't find Sheila, Australian Lady, English Lady, or Non-TTS. Am I just on the wrong side of the big and little ponds?
  10. With that few points, why don't you use a route? I've only used tracks for hiking, where there were lots of intermediate points but only one start and end.
  11. I thought trips were an advanced nuvi thing that didn't apply to handhelds.
  12. I second that one. The only thing I'd want to mount my Etrex30 on is bicycle handlebars. The display and prompts are way too small for safe turn by turn routing at highway speeds. If you are using it for driving, let your passenger read the directions to you.
  13. Download Webupdater. It should keep you current.
  14. Don't think you can do that to an Etrex 10. It will work with a 20 or 30, but you can't load maps on a 10 (unless you can find that basemap).
  15. You can only see them overlaid on your GPSr. BaseCamp will not show two map products at the same time.
  16. My Trails covers most of the US. Try it and see.
  17. Or this for vector maps. Lots more work, but more flexible.
  18. You need to zoom in to 7 miles or less to see My Trails in BaseCamp. I assume it's the same for the GPSr. Select an area where you expect to find a trail in your topo map. Then zoom in to 7 miles or less and select My Trails is selected in the map product drop down menu. You should see trails and POI. In fact you can see the points from much wider zooms. Set your BaseCamp detail to high or highest. I'm pretty sure the mapset covers Florida. I know it covers Hawaii. You can find more coverage for the WA, OR and BC in Northwest Trails.
  19. Follow this link to get to My Trails. The trails will overlay a Colorado topo on your GPSr, but will only appear as lines and POI in BaseCamp.
  20. Check out Northwest Trails and My Trails at GPSfileDepot. These are transparent overlays that will show as trails only maps in BaseCamp, but will overlay your topo on your GPSr.
  21. Any chance that if antarcticannie owns a Mac, and hasn't emptied her trash she might find it in the trash can on her device?
  22. A Gizzmovest might work for this. The ridge around the screen is higher than the button. The downside or upside depending on your point of view is that you really need to push the buttons on the side hard to get them to register.
  23. I've read, but can't confirm, that Garmin brand USB cords are not wired the same as generic USB cords. I've had problems using other cords with my Garmins, but never had problems using a Garmin cord. Could be your GOSmap cord is wired the same way.
