  1. On my last trip to Paris I could not resist and hid a Nano Cache. To get it approved I will say that I am a regular vistor to Paris (will be there on business trips 3-4 times per year). However, it also helps if I can name a local that would be willing to help out with maintenance. As this is a nano cache, the log sheet has only some 20 or so places for signatures, so I would guess that sometime the log-scroll needs to be replaced. Other than that it is a traditional of 1/1 and I expect no further maintenance. So any volunteer available? Thanks in Advance Olaf aka TravelingViking
  2. Just to add: we also used the Frozen Bone Coin to fund the event. So participants did not need to pay anything for food and drinks and prizes. We had a limited version (250 antique silver) and a public version (750 antique copper). Both where available at the event first. Only leftovers made it into the online stores. Thanks again to everyone who funded our 1/1/2006 8AM party! You are all invited to join us next year! Cheers! Olaf
  3. Yes, Please! Same here: I really want to be able to quickly browse through all logs! To see who already had it, where it was, who made the longest loge entries, most picture posts, etc. Using multiple clicks really puts on a break. Thanks, Olaf
  4. If such a timer comes in, it would sure be nice to have it on the PQ. So search for caches with travelers placed there within the last day/days or have been there longer than X weeks
  5. Yes, got it. I'll see if I can re-route your order to save you some shipping costs. Will contact you directly. Olaf
  6. On January 1st, 8AM we had quite a blast at the Frozen Bone Cache Zone Run here in Germany. For those of you that are not too good at reading German , there is an English summary at Frozen Bone Summary. This was the first German Geocaching Event with its own Geocoin (and of course traceable with its own icon). As we did not sell all of them at the event we now have a few leftovers of the copper version (mintage 750) "to share" with those who did not come to the event. In order to save you some shipping costs we organized two "warehouse" locations: one in Tucson, Arizona and one near Hannover, Germany. You should order from the one closer to you. The two links are: USA order and Germany order. PLEASE NOTE: THE GERMAN STORE does not have an "out of stock" feature. All orders placed there are depending on availability, as of now they have some 200 pieces left in stock. THE USA STORE will not be able to ship until Monday. Once you have the coins, go here to retrieve the activation codes. Thanks, Olaf

  8. I would love this feature, where do I sign?
  9. Give her one or two from your collection to sell on eBay... From then on you just have to make sure you really lock your collection away when leaving the house
  10. I haven't seen this issue addressed over the past 6 weeks, if it has, sorry for not finding it... With all the new coins the User Stats pages become "quite complex" - is there anything in the works to clean the display up? Just to throw out an idea: one option for a clean up could be to categorize items and allow subcategories. Maybe have the main User Stats page only show a summary, like Physical Caches Found Virtual Caches Found Travelers Found with each of them showing a sub-total for the categories founds would be way nice. Or to have a "Total Items Found", including the travelers (I am one of those guys who has more travelers then caches found...) For each of the categories only show more details when that info is requested with another click (like on a little '+' or so). The travelers could further be sorted into sub-categories like GC Travelers Promotional or Commercial Travelers Country Coins State or Regional Coins Event Coins Group or Personal Coins Olaf aka TravelingViking - who BTW was mostly a good Geocacher this year...
  11. I noticed that the quality of the tracking numbers on the coins are VERY different. Some are barely visible/readbable, others stand out very clear. Does anybody know who the manufacturer was (or what technique they used) for the Geowoodstock III coin? From the coins I have the tracking number on it really stands out, the difference is HUGE... Thanks, Olaf
  12. I always aim high first, time for compromises is later... For a "true TB/Coin addict" the current information available in PQs is just not enough... Of course one could think about integrating additional features in the existing PQs to provide info like type of travelers in a cache and THEIR GOALS and since when they are in there. However, instead of possibly cluttering the existing PQ it might be better to start a new type of PQ for this. Olaf
  13. FYI: I just posted this suggestion about a new PQ for travelers: Post I think it belongs over there but I guess here are the others that would be interested in such a feature... Olaf
  14. As a TB and Geocoin addict I would really love to see PQs for TBs and Coins. So something along the line of: Show me XXX Travelers Of o Any Type o TB o Jeep yellow o Jeep white o Coin X [preferably entire list with icons] That o I haven’t found o I have found o I don’t own o I own o are on my watch list o were logged in the last 7 days Within [same fields as for existing PQs] From Origin [same fields as for existing PQs] o unknown location Released During [same fields as for existing PQs (Placed During)] Output to [same fields as for existing PQs] Preferably the output would contain all the info from the traveller's page. Big bonus would be to also automatically generate a cache PQ from this traveller PQ. Olaf
  15. Perfect timing! Thanks for organizing it! Looking forward to see you again - and get to know a few new faces. Olaf
  16. Any suggestion for a place and time yet? If we do it on Saturday, I prefer early evening as I have another 'meeting' later that evening. Olaf
  17. I released a TB in Finland in July 2003, it was in Japan and is now in the Seattle area. It would be a blast if someone could bring it to this swap meet!!! Traveling Crawler As a reward I offer a TravelingViking Geocoin! TTV Geocoin Olaf
  18. I would prefer one of the following two: Saturday 12th, evening - pub/bar? or Sunday 13th, morning - breakfast meeting? Staying with friends in Renton, but don't mind to drive 'anywhere'... Olaf
  19. The last time I was in Seattle (Nov 04) we had a great TB swap meet event. I now have my next trip scheduled and would like to see if we can repeat something similar. The weekend I will be in the Seattle area is the 12th/13th of November. If I do some heavy collecting in the weeks before the trip, I am sure I can come up with some 20 or so travellers that I bring from Europe. Comments/Suggestions for places? Olaf
  20. That is one of the reasons why I started counting TB miles - just a grab at an event gives you exactly zero miles... Unfortunately this number is hard to maintain - I started with an excel sheet, once I hit 1M miles I stopped as its just too much work. Another statistic that I would like to see is the Cache to TB found ratio. I am close to 500 TBs - and just found my 200s cache so thats an average of almost 2.5 TBs per cache. But that would also be a number that gets higher if you go to TB "GrabFests" Olaf
  21. Coming from Germany I will be in Birmingham area on the 8th of October and in Hull on the 9th of October where I will also meet a cacher from Arizona, USA. I would therefore like to call for a "TB Swap Meet Event" on any of these days and locations. Local cachers, please comment on 1.) Which date and area would work better: 1a.) Oct-8th, Birmingham area, afternoon 1b.) Oct 9th, Hull area, before noon (can't make afternoon) I could also do both... 2.) Possible sites / waypoints I called for such events in the past on my business travels and typically we would meet in some bar/pub suggested by the locals. I would estimate to bring some 10-15 TBs from Germany, some bound for the UK, some bound for USA. Olaf aka TravelingViking
  22. As usual, there are different ways to play the game... So if at a huge event 500 cachers log all 500 TBs, then that's some 500.000 logs (2 each if they all grab and drop back). Now wouldn't that be an interesting sport? I guess this is exactly why some TB owners now specify "Don't take this TB to an event" - I already have seen a few like that... The biggest problem I have is that I really feel ashamed if a TB is lost at an event that I participated in. So more and more I try to keep track of whom I gave which TB at an event so that at least I have someone to blame. IT WOULD REALLY BE HELPFUL, IF GC.COM WOULD PROVIDE SOME METHOD TO HELP TRACKING TBS BETTER ON PAPER. So on top of my wishlist: I would like to be able to print a list of all TBs that I placed into an event. This list should feature a picture (where available) and the goal and of course an empty column for the name of the person it was given to. Now that would make tracking at events easier... Olaf
  23. Sorry for not writing French here, but my French is far worse then Nick's German (which by the way is far better than he would like to admit) We came a day early to the Alsace event (which we really enjoyed a lot) and took the opportunity to also place two caches near Lutzelbourg and the Rhine Marne Canal as there were no caches for miles As we are not exactly living next door it could be that the approver requires someone local to "adopt" the caches in case something happens to them. As they are both micro caches I don't expect much work, but who knows... So we are looking for a volunteer to a- Provide a french translation of the cache text (so far English only) b- Beta-test the caches c- Maybe add a french geocaching description on/in the caches for muggles d- Look after them caches in case there is any maintenance work with them As a thank you, we could mail you a brand new unactivated TB... Teams SeniorViking and TravelingViking
  24. It usually takes a few days until everybody completed their logs... A BIG THANK you again from my side for organizing the event. Because of it I just had to change my login name once again...
