  1. That's a great link to use! Thanks for the tip. After playing with the URL, I realized you can also review caches that have been HIDDEN by a user, sorted by most recently hidden by just removing the "l" before the "=". Like so: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.aspx?u=hitsman ---------------------------------------------------------------- "A noble spirit embiggins the smallest man." - Jebediah Springfield ---------------------------------------------------------------- [This message was edited by Mushtang on August 29, 2003 at 10:21 AM.]
  2. Seriously, Jomarac5, if the terms and conditions also mean that your posts are the property of GC.com, are you going to stop posting to the message boards in addition to no longer uploading images? ---------------------------------------------------------------- "A noble spirit embiggins the smallest man." - Jebediah Springfield ----------------------------------------------------------------
  3. quote:Originally posted by Jomarac5:I'm with you though, if the wording remains the same, I won't upload any more images. Apparently the Terms Of Use also applies to posts. Do you feel the same way about not posting anymore? ---------------------------------------------------------------- "A noble spirit embiggins the smallest man." - Jebediah Springfield ----------------------------------------------------------------
  4. Gosh Jomarac5, how many of the above posts by YOU were about carleenp's personal/professional opinion of the terms and conditions, and how many of the above posts by YOU were actually on topic? You're the biggest crybaby when people start to have an off topic discussion. Shouldn't you stick to discussing if people read the terms and conditions before uploading files, rather than what the terms and conditions might mean to carleenp??? ---------------------------------------------------------------- "A noble spirit embiggins the smallest man." - Jebediah Springfield ----------------------------------------------------------------

  6. Oh man, you're not kidding. I've gotten my second dose of chiggars this year right now. After growing up here I know that after you spend time in the woods, when you get home you have to shower and lather up your legs and rump really well. Last week I took a quick stroll to nab a cache and didn't shower because I got a little busy afterwards. I hate these freaking things! ---------------------------------------------------------------- "A noble spirit embiggins the smallest man." - Jebediah Springfield ----------------------------------------------------------------
  7. quote:Originally posted by jarja_grl:I went and checked out those sites, but both require that you leave a TB is you're going to take one. Oh yeah, that's a good point. Then yes, I'd go ahead and look for a cache in your area that has one and go grab it like you suggested. If you want to have some fun you could take pictures of it navigating using your GPSr, sitting in the seat of the airplane, eating dinner somewhere, or anything else fun that you can think of. Then post the pics to the TB page after you drop it off. To me that's a lot more fun than just taking one somewhere. Stalk you later! ---------------------------------------------------------------- "A noble spirit embiggins the smallest man." - Jebediah Springfield ----------------------------------------------------------------
  8. Click on Log Your Visit on the top right corner of the cache page, then Post A Note to the cache instead of I Found It. At the bottom of the page look the pull down menu that allows you to drop off a travel bug in your possession, that'll be where you can drop it off. Your note can be as simple as "Dropping off XXX travel bug". Then hit the Click To Log Your Visit button at the bottom of the page. ---------------------------------------------------------------- "A noble spirit embiggins the smallest man." - Jebediah Springfield ----------------------------------------------------------------
  9. Hey jarja_grl, I'm not following you around the forums, I promise. I'd suggest looking at a few of the travel bug depots around that you could get to. These are caches that are used just to swap out travel bugs. Go to their pages and in the top right corner you'll see a list of the bugs in the cache, and you can click the link to read what each bug wants to do. There's one called SOUTH North Georgia Travel Bug Depot that isn't too far from you. I checked in it and there is a travel bug called Fast Eddy that wants to visit the six corners of the USA. That might be a good one to grab. There's also a travel bug depot near the airport called Atlanta Hartsfield Airport Bug Exchange you might want to check. Hope that helps! ---------------------------------------------------------------- "A noble spirit embiggins the smallest man." - Jebediah Springfield ----------------------------------------------------------------
  10. Nice. I'm glad your wife thinks it's funny to vandalize other people's property. Does she also get a kick out of removing all the contents of caches she finds and destroying the log books? Maybe she'd prefer to pelt them with eggs instead. You've got quite a catch there dude. ---------------------------------------------------------------- "A noble spirit embiggins the smallest man." - Jebediah Springfield ----------------------------------------------------------------
  11. It can be a little tricky, so if you have a problem email me about it. I'm also very willing to give clues. I'd rather help someone enjoy caching than keep them frustrated because they're so close. Maybe after you get a few more finds under your belt you'll try hiding one. We need more out in Gwinnett County. ---------------------------------------------------------------- "A noble spirit embiggins the smallest man." - Jebediah Springfield ----------------------------------------------------------------
  12. I think you hit the nail on the head. I'm guessing that the owner of the Lawrenceville Cache doesn't maintain it. Solar emailed him and hasn't heard anything after a few weeks. There have been 3 no finds and no note from the owner suggesting that he'll check on it. If you want to try a fun and tricky cache, by a cacher that pays attention to his hides, try the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds Micro. ---------------------------------------------------------------- "A noble spirit embiggins the smallest man." - Jebediah Springfield ----------------------------------------------------------------
  13. quote:Originally posted by walkietalkie:Cheese and crackers there everywhere! What, just laying there on the ground? Did you eat some? Chasbeau2, I know the cache you're talking about (Lawrenceville Cache) and I'm planning on checking it out for Solar, so I'll let you know what I find too. It's not mine, but I was the most recent finder and it's not too far from my house. Jarja_grl, don't give up. A bad clue can be a pain in the butt I know, but it makes it that much sweeter when you do find it. ---------------------------------------------------------------- "A noble spirit embiggins the smallest man." - Jebediah Springfield ----------------------------------------------------------------
  14. Did you mean the encrypted hint, or the encrypted caches that are meant to be puzzles? If it's just the hint, then press the decrypt button. If you're talking about the puzzle caches, then it's a little more difficult, but some of us would say "a little more fun". Part of the fun is figuring out what cipher was used to encrypt the text, which is not often easy at all. Post the name of the cache you're having trouble with and we'll try to give you some hints. ---------------------------------------------------------------- "A noble spirit embiggins the smallest man." - Jebediah Springfield ----------------------------------------------------------------
  15. If you cache in any wooded areas, shower as soon as you get home! You can usually avoid chiggar bites and rid yourself of all ticks that way. Don't wait until 6 hours later to shower, I learned that one the hard way. ---------------------------------------------------------------- "A noble spirit embiggins the smallest man." - Jebediah Springfield ----------------------------------------------------------------

  17. Three. I just paid my $30 this morning. And now I can finally snag that members only cache near my house. Woo-HOO! ---------------------------------------------------------------- "A noble spirit embiggins the smallest man." - Jebediah Springfield ----------------------------------------------------------------
  18. Jeremy, I love this site, and the updating the site by adding new things is always a good idea. But please please please consider leaving the individual stats pages available. It's really nice to be able to look back over my list (short as it is so far) as well as to look at the finds of friends. Adding a group stat page or any other function would certainly add to the site, but hopefully you're not thinking of removing one thing just because you're adding another. ---------------------------------------------------------------- "A noble spirit embiggins the smallest man." - Jebediah Springfield ----------------------------------------------------------------
  19. quote:Originally posted by Doc-Dean:I love that idea. In Florida we are not required to have a front plate, so we can put whatever we like... Same in Georgia. Send an email to the store and request that they start selling front license plates like I did. Maybe if enough people ask they'll decide to sell them. ---------------------------------------------------------------- "A noble spirit embiggins the smallest man." - Jebediah Springfield ----------------------------------------------------------------
  20. quote:Originally posted by Jeremy (Admin):Sheesh. I never thought of that. How big should it be? like parking sticker big or bumper sticker big? Why not have both? Let people put them where they have room. I'm not willing to put a bumper sticker on my car, but I would LOVE a license plate for the front of my car (not a license plate frame) with the Geocaching logo on it. I sent an email a week or so ago to the folks at the store and was told that since most states require a front license plate they didn't think there would be enough requests for it. Bummer. I guess I'll look into seeing if I can have a bunch made and leave them in the larger caches I find. ---------------------------------------------------------------- "A noble spirit embiggins the smallest man." - Jebediah Springfield ----------------------------------------------------------------
  21. quote:Originally posted by st_richardson:BTW... There is a way to set them up to talk around a corner. I did it once as a kid. Anyone else out there done it? 23. quote:Originally posted by jarja_grl:I imagine this silliness will wear off eventually and we'll just be down to spending our free time navigating the briars and brambles of our state and trying in vain to explain the fun of this to those who just don't get it. Don't plan on it. I've had my GPS for 6 months and still carry it with me wherever I drive and watch myself on the map. My brother has had one for over a year and he still does the same thing too. From what I can tell with talking to others, this isn't something that'll wear off soon. And Jarja_grl, if you're in the lawrenceville area soon, give my cache Gwinnett Co Fairgrounds Micro a try. It'll give you some good experience in not to assume anything. ---------------------------------------------------------------- "A noble spirit embiggins the smallest man." - Jebediah Springfield ----------------------------------------------------------------

    WOO HOO

Would it really count if it's boosted by people posting just trying to get the count up? 107 to go! ---------------------------------------------------------------- "A noble spirit embiggins the smallest man." - Jebediah Springfield ----------------------------------------------------------------
  25. I'm definitely going to be sending in my $ soon. This is a really great site, and I want to support it so I can continue to enjoy my new hobby. This is the only site that I want to send money to that doesn't have lots of nake... um, nevermind. And if this strange new "pocket queries" of which you speak is useful, then that's just icing. ---------------------------------------------------------------- "A noble spirit embiggins the smallest man." - Jebediah Springfield ----------------------------------------------------------------
