  1. The police, property owners, other authority figures, the truth. Everyone else, mind your own business.
  2. Hummmm... The Narcissa character in the Harry Potter series might say something like this too. But, happily enough, by the end of the book series she came around and did something quite respectable. You mean she died?
  3. Maybe you'd prefer the term Springfielder's...
  4. None of my notifcations go to my personal e-mail account, they are text messages that come to my phone. I also recieved a notification at my work e-mail (i have one of them set up that way) and my work e-mail is completely seperate from my phone and personal e-mail address...
  5. I AM a Harry Potter fan (didn't start out that way, thought it was a stupid fad until I actually read the books), read all of the books and seen all the movies mulitple times. I own each movie DVD that has been released (same for LOTR for that matter) and enjoy them each and every time I watch them. Obviously the term Muggle does not bother me, in fact it was a pleasant surprise when I first started geocaching because I instantly knew what it meant. What I can't stand is when people call them "Mugglers". I HATE that term! If anything needs to be ended it is the use of this NON term and furthermore, I think the people that use it should be banned from geocaching for a year and a day, just on principal... Really, its just a word and the books are just book. Lighten up is right. Whether your objections to the books are religous, philosophical or just general disdain for the idea, focus your energies on something more meaningful. You'll live longer.
  6. Something strange is going on. I just got about 20 notifications for caches that have been publishd for months or longer. All of them are being published by Moun10Bike. for some of them the names of the caches on the notifications are different than what the cache title that it is linked to. In one case, the actual cache was in Germany even though my notifications are in Washington State. Not sure if this is a local problem or if it is happening everywhere. Hoepfully they will stop coming in... Just wanted to make sure someone was aware. If this is more appropriate for the Northwest, go ahead and move it to the regional forum.
  7. No response, odd given the railing that went on with earlier updates. In any event, I deleted the challenges that I had logged and yet they are still being "counted" on my profile page (the lower of the two arrows in the picture I posted) It would seem that yoour stats bar will now count challneges that you have deleted as finished whether you wnat it to or not. This is the response I got. So I guess my mistake was posting this in the release notes as opposed to the Geocaching.com website Forum?

    MAPS

It depends on the state you are atalking about and which mapping program you'd liek to use. Many differnet overlays exist for the Washington State Delorme Challenge on the cache page for Google Earth, Mapsource, etc. There is no similar overlay for the Washington State Counties Challenge but one could probably be mad epy using th epolygon tool in GSAK.
  10. I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong but... Geowoodstock is a geocaching event run seperately from Groupdspeak, even if the event is listed on the Geocaching.com listing service website. If you have a problem with the way Geowoodstock is being administered then you should take it up with the organizers of the event. I know that the one Geowoodstock that I attended near Groundspeak HQ (realtive to the rest of the geoworld) that the organizers had different registration levels that cost different prices, similar to what you have shown here. The event costs money to organize and put on, it has to be paid for somehow.
  11. Am I mistaken or did Challenges get added back to my overall Cache count. It sppears in some places but not all. I will delete my completed challenges (all 2 of them) if this is a permanant change.
  12. Yep, same thing just now. Tired accessing profile -500 error. Can't look at my personal page...
  13. I Hate Smurfs! Don't you dare call me Gargamel.
  14. Yeah well, it does make sense when you think about it. He put a new cache there and nobody had found this new cache yet (because he just put it there). So yeah, he needed to delete all previous logs, because after all it's a new cache. I think I'm gonna start doing the same thing! Is that what is called a self reinforcing delusion?
  15. According to your method, it seems like the West is where the most avid geocachers are and yet we've only gotten two Geowoodstocks. Seems like East Coast Bias sticks it's nose into everything...
  16. I wouldn't be surprised if by next summer there are more cans any size, includig the 30 cal ones) than anyone can deal with what with the troop pull out of Iraq by the end of this year... I would think that would be fewer cans. Be shooting those guns a lot less and using a lot less bullets. I think he meant there should be more cans being sold off as surplus, as to your point, they will be using a lot less bullets. Yes, with troops coming back and concievable less need for ammo cans, it would seem that surplusing the extra inventory would flood the ammo can "market". But if what BN&Z says is true, maybe they'll just leae all of the ones they don't need over there...
  17. Can you explain what you mena by this? You're Travel Bugs are associated with your account by default, that's what makes them yours. Can you link a couple of examples so we can check out what you mean?

  19. But you could have just as easily have moved it to the iphone forum. I'm just sayin...
  20. some of the items I've gotten from a cache are a very cool watch with a clip like carbiener for a lanyard and an LED flashlight, a multi tool, a Planet of the Apes (2001 version) DVD (no it wasn't in the Ape Cache) and other cache containers. the first two were FTF prizes and I didn't feel compelled to leave anything in the caches I got them from. The planet of the Apes DVD was actually in a DVD exchange cache but it was brand new and unopened and the one I exchanged it for was used. The cache container was in a cache that I found with a large group of people and we were the FTF on it. Although I was not the one that found the cache and the container was not the FTF prize I really wanted it so I left a couple of brand new batteries in the cache in excahnge. Not sure if that was a fair trade or not but as it was, I ended up hiding the container for this cache on the same outing when we came across a cool feature that everyone thought needed a cache and I was th eonly one that had a container (go figure) so it was all for the best...
  21. I too would be interested in going in with a group AND have a pick up that could haul some. If anyone is keeping tabs. please add me to the list nd contact me if it looks like it's going to become a reality...
  22. I think the ones that get me the most are the trackables that are in micros. I know that there are coins specificlly made to fit iin some types of micro sized continers but I am referring more to the ones that "inside" of nanos and bisons. I understand that sometimes people put tracking bugs in them inadvertantly or swap bugs with another cacher at locations where the bugs they are dipping or swapping won't fit but is it really so hard to mark something missing that is "in" your cache that you know is impossible for it to be there? Sorry if that is OT, just one more rant to add to the list ...
  23. I have to agree with you. "My bad" really is a way of avoiding saying, "I'm sorry, I made a mistake". But if that's the best he can come up with, I guess its the best he can do. You have a unique perspective that none of the rest of us share having been the target of some his misguided behavior and so I will defer to your feelings but I don't think that his initial intent was malicious. True, it became that way as time went by and more and more people disagreed both with his opinion and his way of getting his point across but think he thought he was doing the right thing to begin with. He made a mistake, I think more than just myself has come in to the forums with a poorly formed opinion and rubbed people the wrong way but I learned my lesson and hopefully so did he. I also think that the "apology" he gave is about as much as he is capable of given his past attitude. Time to move on. my $0.02
