I know of a puzzle cache that used the attributes for the puzzle itself. While one or two of them might have been accurate for the hide, that was just a coincidence, most of them had nothing to do with the hide at all.
While I almost always use attrbutes when placing a cache I rarely if ever look at them. I myself will use a dog or a bike attribute if I see a sign that says they are welcome or a no dogs or no bikes attribute If I see a sign saying the opposite. The main reason I do this is to protect my listing in case some bozo doesn't bother reading signs.
I think many wheelchair cachers look for that attrbute and many families use the kid icon to look for appropriate cahes to do with theri young children. That said, a cache was recently placed locally by someone calling themselves a family. On the cache page the description talks about how they cache often with their 3 year old and what a great little finder he is. They put the kid friendly attribute on their cache page. The cache they placed is in s parking lot, next to an electrical box with two rat bait boxes at the base of it. One of the first finders found a used syringe laying near the cache and there is gang grafitti all over the walls of a nearby building. Kinda makes you wonder...

For the trackables you own the tracking number is listed on the trackable page. For the ones you picked up you can see the tracking number when you post a log on the cache page. It'll be listed in the drop inventory towards the bottom where you click 'submit',
That's what I wasn't thinking of. Still it would be nice to see in the list of bugs in your invnetory as well.

I mean, why do you need this?
Because if you have a number of trackables in your posesion than going thorugh them one at a time can be a bit tedious. It would just be nice if it was in list form, then you could quickly check all of the trackables in your inventory against what you have in your posession.

Thought I'd check here before posting a feature request ont he website forum in case I am just missing it.
It would be nice if when you click on your trackable inventory from your profile view if the trackable code from the coin or TB appeared next to the the name for that particular trackable. It would be really helpful for taking a physical inventory that you have in your posession.
If there is no way to do this currently I am going to post it as a feature request on the website forum. Let me know if you'd get behind such an idea.

How would you feel about 12 days in JAIL? I was ARRESTED because an area* the city purchased was deemed a zero tolerance area due to high crime/prostitution/drugs and there weren't any no trespassing signs up!
*the cache had permission from the land owner at the time however the glendale police officers hands were tied as it was deemed a "zero tolerance area"
I spent that much time in jail because i had nobody to bail me out.

Zero tolerance for what? I assume you were not committing any crime.
the parking lot was a hotbed for drug deals and prostitution. my crime: being there.
So were you Provided with counsel? Given a phone call? Given a hearing? 12 days is nearly two weeks, courts don't stay closed that long. I'm sorry I find this very hard to believe. If you were on private property with the owners permisssion and thrown in jail just because they said so then you were falsely arrested and denied due process. There must be something more to the story...

RIA won't touch it after 2 years. Contact Garmin about the problem. They have excellent customer support. If they are not willing to repair it they will offer an upgrade at a reduced cost. Good Luck!
Actually no, that's not true. That is if you really meant REI and not RIA, whoever they are. Decided to go back to the store and they had it in their database that I bought the 60CSx 3 years and one month ago almost to the day. They don't sell 60CSx's anymore so they took it back and exchanged it for a brand new Oregon 550T which was on sale for $30 more than what I paid for my CSx when I bought it. Not only that, I had a broken pair of sunglasses that I had bought there as well for $120. They gave me credit for the sunglasses and applied it to the difference in price of my old GPS and the new on sale one and gave me the difference in Cash. I walk out the door with a brand new GPS and $90 more than I walked in there with...

Came home from caching yesterday and when I tried to turn on my GPS to retrieve the caches I had found it would not come on. Tried new batteries and plugging it in to another power source, no go. when I hook it into the computer using the USB port the computer regogizes that it is on but hte screen remains blank and the buttons do not repond.
So... I have a couple of questions. First is, I bought it at REI, 2 years ago. I've heard they have extrodinary return policies, any chance they will replace it? Second, is it repairable? I know that's a difficult question without seeing it but I'm wondering if Garmin even does anything like that.
Thanks for any help. I'm not looking forward to caching with my phone...

The question seems moot, as the cache has been archived because the logbook was a USB drive.
Archived because OP inadvertently destroyed the USB while attempting to open it... Not because it was a USB, but because it was ruined.
That's not what the reviewer that archived the cache said, "Had not realized this was just a USB key, which is not a valid logbook due to security concerns"

Most geocachers don't swap containers but accept that geocaching can include those who do. At least that's my hunch.

I did 21 during a 12 mile hike getting a significant portion of this series. That was about half of the total that are int he area at the time and about half of them were puzzle caches. It was a fantastic day but I was wasted by the end of it. Took the geopup and got one on the way there for a total of 22 that day. Still need to go back into the area to get the last five or six that are still there...

I have a simple question so hopefully someone will be able to answer it right away. I've read through a good bit of the site update thread and I'm still no tclear on the Coordinate Update issue. OK, here's my question:
If I solve a puzzle and then update the coords on Geocaching.com using the new feature, will those updated coords come across with a PQ? ex:
I have a bookmark list that contains all of the puzzles that I have solved but not yet found. I want to run a PQ of that list and then load it into GSAK using th eapi tool. Will the corrected coords come with the PQ when I run it or do I have to update the coords manually in GSAK?

You're best bet is to look at the date the cache was placed. There are exceptions, but usually caches more than a couple of months old don't get visited as often as the ones that have been published in the last week or so. If you want it to be moved quickly, put it in a new cache, that way a local is likely to pick it up and move it along.

One thing I've always wondered, if you find/move/discover the same trackable more than once does it increase your overall counts? Since there is nothing on the trackable page other than your previous log (which can be buried pages deep in the logs) to tell you that you've encountered a particular bug before, I would think this would come up more frequently than it would with caches that tell you on the page that you've found it before and when.
It's kind of a throw back from the old days when you would have to do a Drop and Retrieve to 'Dip/Visit' a bug through more than one cache. It wouldn't increase your bug count each time.
I prefer it this way, especially oin situations where so many travelers look the same. How many toy cars can you remeber exactly what they look like.
One of ht ereasons I was asking is because I saw a request from someone recently that asked to not exchange bugs with them that they had moved before to save them the hassle of having to cull out the ones they've already recieved. I was jsut tryingto figrue out which side of the equation they were approaching that request from.

Since no one seems to really want to answer the OP with an EXPLANATION, I will. OP apparently you have not heard of the vaunted Power Trail. These are long strings of caches set up on lonley roads, where a cache is placed every 1/10th of a mile right next to the road. The containers are the same thing, over and over again. Usually a film type container or similar, under a pile of roacks (sometimes not even that) right next to a gaurdrail post. Some people go so far as carry containers with them, complete with a log presigned, so all you have to do is pick up the old container and replace it with the new. Others actually sign or replace the log but use the orignal container. It is often done in groups sometimes in a single car with a driver and others taking turns jumping out and making the grab. Sometimes it's a group of two or more cars witha few people in each leap frogging each other. Using these methods, it is not impossible for a group of cachers to log a cache every minute or two. Starting at midnight and doing this until midnight the next day, they are able to log several hundered or sometimes even over a thousand caches in a single day...
Some people really like this type of caching, or more accurately, they like the numbers associated with them. Yes, there are Videos out there showing cachers participating in these runs, having a blast and really enjoying themsleves, I for one can't imagine such monotony being much fun but thats jsut me. Some people get e huge thrill every time they lift a lamp post skirt too. the world is filled with diversity...

Many of my friends have never looked for a geocache, but by knowing me are aware of geocaching and may have even had an explanation of what caching is, what a cache is, and a brief background about caching. A few friends have found a cache with me, but don't have a geocaching.com account and don't search for caches unless they're with me when I'm caching.
Are these people muggles, cachers, or something else? At what point does a muggle stop being a muggle and start being a cacher?

The next bid would need to be 6942. So you can see that the cans are $5.64 a piece. It has been my experience that the hard bidding doesnt normally start until close to the end. Based on that, these cans are going ot be pretty costly.
Yeah, 10 bucks is starting to look cheap. Good Grief Charlie Brown, why are they in such a demand? Is steel getting to be the price of gold? All I seem to find these days is gladware so it can't be just geocaching.
At 10 bucks a pop, I'll take 10. If it goes above that my commitment will go down.
As to who and why, army suplus stores and e-bay auctioneers can get $15, $16, or $17 for these things. Even if the price goes up to $13 a can, they can still buy them at that and make a profit, we are All Ferengi after all...

Good idea. When our children were infants and toddlers my wife used to carry cards with her that contained a statement pertaining to the relavent laws to hand to people that questioned her breast feeding in public places. It's basicly just a nice way of saying shove it to people that should be minding their own business.
I underestand the need to inform people of what you're doing when in a place that looks like you might be doing something suspicious but If I am searching along a public trail where I have just as much right to be there as the dog walker who is passing by then my response is going to be short, curt and uninformative. Nosy people drive me nuts and there are far too many of them around IMHO.

Nope. Sorry to burst your bubble, but any 'generalization' you read into that statement was internally generated.
I simply pointed out that there are folks who do seemingly bizarre things, (including running away screaming at the thought of being near a particular book), based on nothing more than the fact that someone claimed that their invisible friend said that bigotry and fear was the proper course of action. Those folks are real, and they inhabit every continent on this tiny blue marble. Were I to 'generalize' those thoughts, I would need to claim that all forms and variations of religion lead to zealotry, which, as an ordained minister, (among other hats), I know is simply untrue. Nice try though. Gotta give you that.

It looks to me like in both of those cases, the Cache Owner is hosting the puzzle himself. there is a CO near to where I live that does a similar thing. In every case that I have seen, he writes the code for the puzzle himself and then hosts it on his own site.
Geocaching.com would nto allow you to host a game on theri site so unless you can write the code anbd have a site that can host it for you then you will be out of luck.
One more suggestion... Write to teh CO of thsoe puzzles and ask them how they did it. chances are better that you will get a decent answer from teh person that is laready doing it than asking here.
