I used my Droid today for the first time useing the c:geo app. Love it. I love my Colorado and have not had many issues using it like some have had. I like mine. However, the droid app I like because for these reasons:
I don't have to remember to download the cache on my device ahead of time. It just goes out an find them based on location or what ever.
I can post my find right from the cache site
I can see the entire cache page from where ever I am at
The phone said I was with in 7 feet of the cache. Colorado said 35. Heavy tree cover in the area.
I can see several different map views including satellite view on goggle maps.
I am wondering how this violates my user agreement on Geocache.com like the one member stated. ????

First off, just wanted to say thanks again to everyone that threw in their 2cents here - I really appreciate the help and assistance!
This morning I pulled up to Sportsman's, walked straight back to the GPS display, and saw NEITHER the Oregon 300 or the Dakota! Man, what a buzz-kill! They had an Oregon 200 and a 400i, but no Dakota's at all. Oh well. I fiddled with the 200 for a minute, and really like the feel of it, and the interface seems real nice. It was actually a lot smaller in my hand than I thought it would be, which led me to believe that the Dakota would probably be too small for my liking. But I knew I wanted the bigger memory of the 300 and at least the 2-axis compass, so I left empty-handed.
But not all is lost, as soon as I got home, the laptop was fired up, and I am having shipped 2-day from Amazon.com the Oregon 300 ($355), some enerloop rechargeable AA's, and one of the Lacrosse chargers (after reading the other thread here sounds like that's the way to go) I can't wait! I know eventually I will want the routing street maps from garmin, (which I noticed were $77 on amazon) and a DC cable amongst other things, but that can wait for another order.
I think it is a good choice. I have a Colorado which is similiar to an oregon. I have a mount on my snowmoible dash. I can see the screen just fine. The built in topos has never not got me out of a remote location that I did not know where I was. The thing with snowmobiling, your not looking at the screen the entire time. You usually slow down or stop so you can study where you are. The larger screen size of the colorado/Oregon is nice for a quick glance and shows more area. I also found no reason to run power. With NIMH rechargables I can get 8-12 hours with the backlight on. I carry at least 2 extra sets.
The paperless geocaching is nice as well. My friend has teh 60CSX and I like the colorado much better in both outdoor activities and geocaching.

I am new to geocaching and i would like like to perchase a gps unit; there are so many brands that I'm not sure what to buy. I want to do geocaching but i would like to use it in my car if possible.
For my budget I'm looking for a Garmin etrex HCX or a Magellan Triton 500 or else ??

Hmm, I have a colorado 400T and have CN NT 2009 loaded on it as well. I can auto-route. It will beep when there is a turn and also shows the text on the screen ie turn left on leoanard rd.
I also have a Nuvi 200w. I pretty much leave it in the car. I may enter the cords before leaving and have that route me to get me close spot to park but then I used the handheld. If I had to have one GPS it would be a handheld outdoor GPS for sure.

one other thing and you may not believe this because we've been wanting this forever... but the word is 3-axis...
and nothing about colorado.
I wonder how useful this is seeing how even with the 2 axis most people tell you to turn it off for accuracy.

I just use an invisable shield on mine. I put these on all my screens now days.

I don't see the Oregon as being "miles" above the Colorado, either.
It appears that Garmin took note of all the problems with the Colorado and fixed them with the Oregon. It seems like from reading forums, people constantly complain about bugs, crashes, etc on the Colorado but most Oregon complaints seem to focus on not knowing how to use the units.
To me a smooth running unit is miles above a buggy unit that crashes or gives significant problems all the time.
My Colorado does not really have any bugs that I have noticed. I have had mine since last february and have installed every update as they come out. Mine has been a solid unit. I use it for off trail snowmobiling, hunting, geocaching, hicking, Jeeping and in the vehicle navigation.

I never had much luck getting my old etrex to work on the mac. Those units were built before Garmin beganning building units that are supported on the Mac. I think Mac GPS and some of the other aftermarket software would work with it but not garmin.

Glad you're happy with it. I once had a problem with an eTrex that I kept in like new condition. Garmin replaced it with a refurb that showed signs of use. I thought they were going to repair my original, or at least replace it with with a new one. Now I know, and now if I have an issue I'll go to the merchant first.They gave me an RMA, and my refurb unit arrived today!Aren't refurb units brand new? I thought they were units that failed test at the factory so they had to replace a component inside with new therefore refurbished.
I don't know how you keep them like new if you use them for outdoor activities.

To answer the question, I have a Colorado 400T and am very happy with it. It has some really cool features and having the entire topo U.S. already loaded on it I do not have to connect to the computer to load the area where I will be traveling. They are all there. I have CN NT 2008 loaded on mine as well. I do view maps on my computer to look for areas I want to go. I can view my older topos, CN, or base maps on my computer.
I would recommend going to a store where you can check out both units in your hand and decide what you want. I have heard really good things about the Delorme and Garmin has a good reputation as well. There are pros and cons to both. It just depends which one fits your needs the most.

I think that some of it comes from business's that list their numbers in yellow or white pages. Because my wifes and I both have a home busines and hers shows up but mine does not. Mine is a cell phone number that is not listed in the White or yellow pages. Hers is listed in both.

I have had my Colorado 400T about a year now. I liked mine right from the start. I did not have a lot of the problems you read about. With each software update it even got better. Coming from an etrex Legend I could not be happier with my Colorado. I don't swim underwater with mine so I never threw it in a bathtube or pool just to see what would happen. I do however, put it in a ram mount on my snowmobile and go ride powder. There have been several times I had to brush the snow off of my dash just to find it. I have had to scrap ice off the screen before and then as the snow melts it has water all over it. Never an issue.
If you can get a good price on it there is no reason not to pull the trigger. Remember you still get the manufactures warranty if you buy new.

Try here for User data:
../User/Library/Application Support/Garmin/RoadTrip/
Did you remove/replace the User Data or just the prefs?
Yes I did. I also upgraded the colorado from 2.8 to 2.9.

Thanks for the help however, I still have the problem. After throwing the preference files away the software opens with out the user data is corrupt message. However, after connecting my Colorado 400T and selecting the Receive button. All of my data comes in from the GPS. After closing Roadtrip and reopening it I get the corrupt message. The waypoints can POI that came in are there but there tracks are missing. If a create a new folder and drag the track in the next time I open the program they are gone.
Any ideas?

Does anyone know how to fix this?
Did you try to reinstall? I had a weird issue with Road Trip where it wouldn't open for one whole day...then it would. I don't know, it's been a champ since then.
I threw the old copy in the trash along with webupdater. Reloaded both, and even the latest version of Garmin communicator. There has to be a preference or something that needs to be thrown in the trash. I did a search in the finder for Roadtrip and could not find anything other than the application itself.

You Oregon users, what do you have to say about the screen outdoors. I have seen many say they returned their Oregon because they where unable to see the screen outdoors. I am wanting to get one but....
I had a 60CSx for over a year and got a Colorado 300 when they first came out. I had to use the backlight more than I preferred, but I didn't think it was unacceptable. Just a week ago, I managed to get an Oregon 400t and have used it since. It really isn't that much worse than the Colorado in "real world use" for me. I found that I can use the Oregon with no backlight during the daylight, and with just a little in the dark. Where I have the hardest time seeing the screen is in the twilight time in the early morning or early evening. Then I need just a bit more backlight on to see the screen well.
If you are coming to an Oregon from a 60CSx or some other older Garmin, I could see how you might not like the screen until you have had a chance to use it for a while and adapt to it. I like the expression that someone else used recently. They treat it like having the backlight on full is normal and turning it down is just an extra battery saver feature.

I use my colorado on my snowmobile with the backlight on all day and still can go all day on a set of NI-MH rechargables.

The topos on the Colorado are not stripped down. Rather, it looks like you you have City Navigator loaded on your Colorado and that is what is displaying in your screen shot - City Navigator has precedence over Topo USA and so it covers the topo maps. Here is what your area looks like on my Colorado when I turn off display of City Navigator:
Awesome. I new someone may have a simple answer. I turned off city navigator map on my recreational profile as well as my geocache profie and all the detail is there now. Sweet. Thanks for the help.

Yes. It would help you know what model GPs and version of RoadTrip. But i would guess that you are wanting to import files from a microSd or an Oregon or Colorado drive. I have to do it that way to get the tracks from off my microSD. They are then automaticly saved in RoadTrip in the "My Collection" folder. You might want to make a new folder and copy them to there and you can view them separately.
It is a Garmin Colorado 400T. So do you have to do this by dragging the track file into a new folder or can you simply send from GPS in Roadtrip? I have the latest version.

Those would be cases when I would make sure I have the Colorado. My droid has both GPS and 3G. Most of the time I would think about doing a cache at the spur of the moment I would only do if I had service to get the cache info. If I did not have service I wouldn't be doing the cache anyway because I was not prepared. I like the idea of just being able to bring this info up. I'm not sure why download and upload was even brought up. When I posted my log it was instant. This is broadband. If I did not have service it would just upload on the way home when we drove through and area with service.
