  1. With the use of a few lifelines lately, I was wondering if anyone wanted to meet up and exchange those pints we all owe each other? Not necessarily to do an event cache (unless anyone can be bothered to set one up), but just for a few beers and socialising. I was thinking of the Shakespeare pub (on India Street just off Washington), which has a great pub quiz at 7pm on the last Sunday of every month (the 30th this month). I've been to one of them before, and it gets VERY busy, but would be a good place to wind down after a day's caching. Anyone up for it?

I'd be up for a pint or two! Mmmmmmmm.....beer.

  2. There's also an excellent puzzle cache called "The Artist's Secret" inside the park as well that is worth the effort to solve the puzzle.

The Artist's Secret appears to have been muggled according to recent DNFs.

Duncan, can you check on this one since you work down in that area?

Glad to report that "The Artist's Secret" cache is still there. Mr. V is doing a great job with guard duty. Watch for muggles here, high traffic, you know.

  3. Congrats to Lucky Kid & Proud Parents on 1000 caches!

    Now for something completely different...

If anyone is interested....I'm heading up to the Palm Springs area for some power caching (cache til ya puke). I'll be up there Thursday and Friday (13-14th). I know it's short notice, but....I'd be glad to have some company. Let me know.

  4. Thought you were done with caches in MTRP? Think again. I have but one more to do and I'll be done with that park (Another Micro Cache in MTRP). However, it might be missing. The two I placed are fairly easy, a little hiking required....

  5. I have 15 in one day (San Diego County).

But I have 11 FTF's in one day, and in a four hour period, solo. Well, actually with my 6 year old who prevented me from continuing on to where I might have realistically reached 15+ FTF's. The area (Anza Borrego Desert off S2) was saturated with caches in preparation for a camping event. I was "competing" with another cache who ended up getting 9 FTFs on the same day I had 11; then, he got another 8 or 9 FTF's the following day.

Now, had I known this before I left my house, would I have left her home? No way! we had fun caching together and enjoyed every minute.

The local FTF record is by DUSCWE! who has 12 FTF's in one day.

Personal best was an even 50 up in Palm Springs/La Quinta. As for the 12 FTF's, I was up at my Dad's cabin in Crestline (near Big Bear) doing some caching. The following day about 16 new caches popped up. That was a great day.

  6. No more rides for puzzle boy.

    Tom, ya think?

I must say, Duncan, you could probably be prosecuted for treason for that one! Giving aid and comfort to the enemy.......

You could always "pretend" to give him a ride, and leave him in the middle of nowhere.

Oops, did I say that out loud?

    Bad big brother.

Your ideas intrigue me, I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

  7. Yeah, but I'm sure you would agree -- you, of all cachers, had a slight advantage on this one, right?

Lot of good it did him.... :P;);):P

Seriously, Flagman has set up quite the adventure on Local Treasure. Go get it all of you who've yet to try. Very fun and rewarding!

Har de har har. Sheesh, I get no respect! :P

No more rides for puzzle boy. ;)

  8. Hello

Been reading through the threads and seems you guys have a pretty cool group going. I've only begun this adventure game but have been having a blast. I hope to meet up with some of you........and sorry I missed that picnic event.

    Happy Geocaching!

  10. Thanks, Jeff! Hey...will you teach me how to do that cool "lightning from your fingertips" trick?!

Oh...and... it looks like I picked a bad week to quit sniffing glue...

    Hey PC,

Remember what that little green guy said:

"Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will..."

BTW, have you been talking to McCroskey?

  11. You guys are a bunch of knuckleheads going out caching at 3-4AM.

If you haven't tried it, don't knock it.

It's quite a different world hiking a long trail at night; and with a full moon, you won't need a flashlight until its time to look for the container.

The stars in the heavens sparkle like no place on a city street. You might see owls fly overhead. And at twilight, you may see a colony of bats fly overhead.

Of course, in the summer, the bugs can eat you alive, but that's what bug juice (deet) is for.

Anyone interested in doing some night hunting on a Friday or Saturday night, say 10p-1a?

Hey Now! I'm game for the Friday 10 to 1AM shift. Do we get to bust some perps? <_< BTW, what does ICE stand for? Sounds cold.

  12. Alright ya' hayseeds, it's a stick-up. Everybody freeze. Everybody down on the ground.

Well, which is it young feller? You want I should freeze or get down on the ground? Mean to say, if'n I freeze, I can't rightly drop. And if'n I drop, I'ma gonna be in motion. You see...

    Shut up!

    Raising Arizona

    Let's go get Nathan Jr.!

  13. Due to stuff around here we couldn't Zoom out to the valley for some caches.

Will the caches still be there next week?

If the weather is good we plan to Zoom out and grab a few.

    TeamGrnZoom

Who knows?! Get 'em while they're hot!

  14. Duscwe!, why do you always do this to me ;) .

My unit is short of staff this week, so, I'm planning on stopping by after work around 3-4p. Hopefully, I'll have time to go hike Cowles Mtn; there's four up there I have not visited.

I plan to be there most of the day, call my cell when you get out there.

  15. I hope they survice the downpours; I'm mostly concern about the Monitoring cache; will check on them on Friday.

    Hey Chuy,

I'm meeting T.R. Violin at the visitor's center 9AM on Friday if you want to meet us there, or if anyone else wants to tag along...

  16. I would like to know if there is anyone in the San Diego area who can obtain a Starbucks coffee card that was put out by Starbucks in commemoration of the San Diego Zoo. the card has a picture of Flamingos on it. I collect these cards and have not been able to get a copy of the one mentioned.

I would prefer on that has not been used and has not had the number scratched and exposed on the back but if that is not possible any will do except for damaged looking cards.

In exchange for one of these cards I have one of 2 geo-coins that I will trade for one of these cards.

I have a Canadian Geocoin and I also have an Oregon Geocoin. The choice is yours.

If anyone can help please contact me I would be grateful. I have a picture of the card if that helps.

    Thanks

Both stores say they haven't seen them in months, one guy didn't know what I was talking about! Sorry,
