Some old cache types have their virtues
Colonial Cats replied to Colonial Cats's topic in General geocaching topics
I think that the best we can hope for for now is to allow current active virtuals be adoptable. Maybe even allow some of the archived caches be adopted as well. -
When I see some of the old virtual caches disappear, I cannot help being a little sad. Isn't it about time we cachers band together and demand that Virtual caches be allowed?

I use to own a cache called, "A Goose by any other Name...".

We have several Cats and live near Colonial Williamsburg, VA. Our title will be odd when we move to Florida next month. -

What's the problem with kids at a guard rail cache? TeamPennyFinder is sharing a strange encounter and the rest of you pile on. You all were not there and I am sure that the kids were just fine under adult supervision. I wouldn't blame them if they didn't post to this forum again.

Basic Members finding Premium Member caches
Colonial Cats replied to deskdata's topic in General geocaching topics
Bryan, thank you for tackling this problem. We all should realize that no matter what the outcome is, not everyone is going to be happy. I think that the back door should remain open. As long as a basic member cacher signs the physical log, the CO should not be able to delete the web log solely due to that cacher's status. Requiring premium membership to sign a log should be considered as an ALR. -
Basic Members finding Premium Member caches
Colonial Cats replied to deskdata's topic in General geocaching topics
My caches use to be all premium caches. I changed them all to basic caches when I realized that many new Geocachers who were not members yet were missing out from finding my caches. The only reason I can think of for a policy change is to try to encourage more paid memberships. I believe that this would be bad policy. Instead, I believe it would be better to get rid of Premium Caches. -

I don't know, is there any drama going on in France-Geocaching forum? Seems I can't read it. We must consider the Mad Frenchman's views. After all, the French are smarter than us; they can all speak French. -

Many do not realize that you need a thick skin to participate in the forums. You will never get 100% agreement with your opinions. It also helps to have an open mind.

Like I said in my other posts there is no more to this story. And if there is any editorial in my profile it would be that I don't understand why people get up at 5am every day so they can dash out the door and drive 20 miles to get an LPC. You must realize that everyone plays the game a little differently. Although you may believe that FTFs shouldn't be part of Geocaching, others may place a higher importance to it. I'm not saying you are wrong or anything like that. I'm just saying that people may enjoy different aspects of the game that you may not enjoy. That said, there is no excuse for someone to threaten you like that.

As long as you stay away from all commercial aspects, you will be fine. I have several caches like that.

Perhaps different ways to find the two solutions? Easy puzzle = hard hide; hard puzzle = easy hide. Maybe solving a Quadratic Equation would work since you can get 2 correct answers for it.
-
Could you do it as a puzzle cache with two possible correct answers. The answers would lead you to two separate containers. Since each answer is the correct answer, finding either container would constitute a find. Since this is an either/or situation, if the finder locates both containers he would only get credit for the first container he found. I think this would be a fun cache if you can get a reviewer to sign off on it.

The cat would be dead because the cat is in a sealed box.
