Ammo cans are water proof for the most part so they "should" stay dry. Bag the contents for extra protection. We have a nature area here that is a floodplain and all the caches are cabled to trees...well those that survive are. Plan ahead and they should survive.

Is this a political & social agenda site or a geocaching site? Seems like a weak attempt to inject politics and stuff into geocaching. Place them where you want...hunt them where you want and move on. If it is in a location people don't want to go then they wont. There are several caches in Memphis I got nervous finding and I have my carry permit. Heck one of the caches was my own. However I didn't place it to be political I placed it because of the urban myths about the area. (Voodoo and stuff, now archived because some threatened to shoot a cacher). Anyway I thought this was supposed to be a non political board.

I know you didn't say so, but I just want to make clear that I don't want to kill LCs or VCs in any way. I don't like LCs, that's true, but I never said anywhere that they shouldn't exist. Who actually has flagged for killing LCs? Most 'anti'-LC posts I've seen just wish that they would be in separate section of the site, like benchmarks. (KA, thanks for the confirmation that it will actually happen! ) Could it be that the posts from people who don't like LCs are automatically read by some people as hatred and pro-killing towards locationless caches? Pay someone to watch the kids/take down the lights...then go caching. You can find plenty of willing folks hanging around parks that I am sure would want the job.
