  1. Globalrat, next time "Who wants to be a Millionaire" is auditioning, please apply to be on the show!
  2. I see that I was wrong. I will change my ways. (Unfortunately) At least I will be able to justify declining photo requests with a link to this thread.
  3. Looks like a great cache! Will see what time allows. Might have to search for caches with swag though as the main aim is bonding with the niece. Long, long ago I used to live nearby...would love to see the location!

  5. (I really like this thread! Thanks for the hard work generating these interesting stats) Good request Trev!
  6. Dang! My first double post!!
  7. I still agree. It is easy to apply the rules to oneself. It is harder for me, as a cache owner, to turn down a photo request. I just picture the 2 possible responses to my reply and prefer the one that ends in a smile.
  8. Brilliant! Thanks for that! May try the zoo ones...can make it a double outing.
  9. Wow! Thanks for that! Those all look great! I doubt I will have time to do more than one or two. (will bring a ruler!) Saxonworld suggestions anyone? I want to do a cache with my 7 year old niece. Any good kid friendly caches nearby?
  10. I think the answer you are looking for is: When you buy a coin, you can either pop it in a cache and let it travel (then the coin should always move from cache to cache and never be"taken" by anyone) or you could hang on to it as part of a collection, only taking it to event cache for other cachers to "discover". I think quite a few people would have a mix of these scenarios, with some of their collection traveling, some not released. No one is allowed to take and keep a coin from a cache for a collection. That would be stealing (unless the coin was a FTF prize). Hope that helps!
  11. I agree...for myself. That's my rule, but do you really think it "hurts the game" if you allow logs, when requested, based on a photo? If it was a trend, happening all the time I may think differently, but it has only happened once to me. I really feel I would rather allow a little happiness...
  12. Hi there I am heading up to JHB in about a week. Staying at airport hotel. Also travelling through to Saxonworld to visit my sister. Time will be TIGHT! Any caches that are recommended near the airport or around Saxonworld? I would rather do "Quality than Quantity" so puzzles, multi's OK so long as they don't take more than about an hour. Suggestions appreciated!
  13. Wow, after reading the story of Cathedral Peak I think it must win in the "Log book signed by the most muggles" category! Only one geocacher logged it as a find!
  14. You guys are obsessed with BJ's! Luckily not a huge problem in the Cape.

Hi guys Geoff Ogden, Fish Eagle, Jors
  16. You would be missing out on a lot of interesting stuff in my part of the world. Cache listings here are full of fascinating information on History, nature (threatened species, environmental impact), culture, technology...etc. Most people here really appreciate informative cache listings. Your loss I suppose.....
  17. Looks like you and I have similar agendas. Here is one of mine that seems quite well received called "Picnic Pool Trade Experiment". It tries to force a trade, and so far all have traded, and traded up or even. When making a trade mandatory to log a find, the reviewers felt that it was causing a "Pay to play" scenario and was not allowed. I felt that was fair, because with time the items in the cache are becoming quite valuable. So I allowed a "no trade" option.
  18. GPS batteries always die when you are 40m from GZ Nothing is foolproof because fools are so ingenious Nothing is muggle proof....
  19. If you look at the bookmark lists on that cache's cache page, you will find many others you can do.
  20. Weird on the links thing! I just tried all of them, all worked for me!!!???!!
  21. Gerhard, I am sorry for your bad experience. Did you think to contact the owner to find out if the cache was replaced? I find most cachers I have bumped into (via email) are more than willing to share their cell numbers. If you are ever in the Cape and have a problem with one of my caches, please email me for my cell number.
  22. I have a PDA cell so don't use symbian software. Has anyone tried this? Any good?
  23. Having a look at today's logs I see some SA cachers are logging it.
