  1. I don't believe you've just criticized my TB etiquette in another current topic Alex!
  2. Yes Alex there's is an inconvenience point to this! But not to take the TB in the first place is also bad practice and against TB etiquetted as the opportunity to move it on would not have been taken!
  3. Sorry chaps, not convinced! Anyone like to quote me something from the guidelines?!
  4. This comes up time and time again! Why are people so defensive about have TBs grabbed from them? If you find a TB in a cache and it's still listed as being in the hands of a cacher but you want to get on with logging your cache activities then the grab facility can be used to bring the TB into your possession. You should then place the TB into the cache to keep it's mileage correct and retrieve it back into your possession. For all you know the person who placed the TB in the cache could be on holiday and not have internet access for days or weeks!
  5. Check out travel bug "P100 GPS"! (Oh, and there's P99 GPS!). Last motorcycle caching trip I think was last November! Have done a couple of RBRs now but not overly impressed with the organisation. The description of the landmarks to be found and photographed is not always clear. To complete the whole event involves thousands of miles to be ridden all round Britain between Easter and the end of October always with the nagging doubt that you may have photographed the wrong item. Losing the points and missing out on a full 100% would be a bitter pill to swallow after spending hundreds of hours in the saddle plus hundreds of pounds on fuel, maintenance, accommodation, etc. It's a great idea though for getting out on the bike as you can still claim an award for however many landmarks you've visited/photo'd. I had great adventure last Easter touring Scotland on a Kawasaki KLE500 visiting all the landmarks on the way! However, this year I'm sticking to the National Rallies: National Rally of Wales - first weekend in May The National Rally - first weekend in July National Rally of Scotland - second weekend in September And, if you do all three you can claim an additional award "The Three Nations Challenge"! You'll have to check My Webpage to see how many times I've done the above events, I've lost count! The first two have websites (Wales is Clive MCC (Mid-Wales) site) but if anyone wants more info please contact me. I've already got my entry in for the Welsh! How about a Geocaching team entry for any of them? --- If you visit my website please excuse the Xmasie things, I've not updated it since then (been too busy caching!). From the home page click on "Motorcycling" then click in any of the blue motorbikes to find my events page or click on the flags to go to the events own website.
  6. You're right Peter, on reflection two wrongs don't make a right. As a prolific cacher in general and as a night cacher have I taken this too sensitively as being potentially labeled and considered desperate? Derogatory as I have taken the quoted reply I do feel I have a pending appology to offer for part content of my response, my point having been made in the first section of that response.
  7. Clearly not keen to offend those with sight impairment you are obviously happy to offend those who enjoy caching at night. Especially tactless as there are those like myself who have a reputation for caching at night. There's no desperation to night caching just the greater challenge of navigating to find the objective in the dark. I reserve my experienced input to this thread in disappointment of your uneducated comments. Looking at your profile I would have thought the pair of you intelligent enough to put your point across without belittling those who are the subject of this thread. Please take a moment to look up "tact" in the dictionary.
  8. Maybe you've discovered the grave of the "Missing Cacher"?!
  9. Many thanks Sally, I'll have a look at those in the morning and see if I'll have time to fit into what will be a rather flying visit! Hi The Ollies, I've a simple plan if I run out of caches... get Prince of Darkness to start placing some! HH, Isle of Wight in March, Isle of Bute in April, Isle of Man.... May..be a possibility!
  10. Sorry chaps, it gets worse! Just taken on a task that puts me in Cairnryan and Ayr tomorrow night. I'll be checking out the local cache listings this evening to see if there are any bonuses I can bag whilst up there!
  11. I'd thought about that Sally as it would be quite an occasion and for me to share with my good friends attending! However, four caching weekends until the Easter holiday @ my current rate of 25 caches a week I think the big one's going to happen sooner! And, then there's Easter itself, four days of caching!
  12. OK, so you find a TB in a cache, you retrieve it and the log book shows it's just been dropped by the previous finder of the cache who was there just ahead of you. You get home and cannot complete your logging on the computer as the previous finder of this TB hasn't yet placed it in the cache. No fault on anyone here, it's just the way the game plays. So, no problem, you are the physical holder of the TB so you grab it from the current holders inventory and log it into the cache where you found it. You can then continue with your log entries, retrieving the TB and so on. Providing the TB has been logged correctly into and out off the caches it's physically visited surely it doesn't matter that it's been grabbed from someones inventory. That's grab facility is available and can be used on such an occasion. If the TB was dropped by someone on holiday it's possible they would not log it for a couple of weeks. How many cachers would therefore be waiting and getting frustrated at not being able to complete their logs as the TB could have moved through quite a few caches in that time!
  13. Well done Subarite! Keep it going, I'm coming your way!
  14. Well done on your 500 Stuey! 200 caches in six months, outstanding achievement!! Sorry I didn't catch you at the Winchester meet. But, no doubt will be down your way in the not too distant future!
  15. Many thanks everyone! As for a 1000th cache event that could prove difficult to predict as I could be anywhere, no I don't preplan these milestones, they just happen! As for an event in daylight, I don't think my manager, Prince of Darkness, will approve of that! Special thanks to Team Maddie UK for their excellent Zodiac Series, 50% of which I knocked out in the dark! Completed the lot, along with about a dozen other caches and a further dozen trigs in 24 hours! Didn't know I'd reached 900 until after Josie's Cache, pulled into Gledrid services for a break and counted up! Just as well as I was beaten back by the weather after that! Parked up for the night in the hills on the Welsh border only to experience worse conditions the next morning, the ground white with hailstones! Had no arctic survival gear with me so sensibly called it off and headed home! Taking a break next weekend, got to catch up with some admin! Kicking off again at SGDO over weekend 26/27! 1000 by Easter? But that's only 4 weeks away! Shouldn't be a problem!!
  16. Just heard a young lady(?) in the office remark..."Don't do quickies!"
  17. Either date is fine with me, how about both?! Whatever, just get your act together!!
  18. Just registered my intention to attend! However, whatever you do please, please, don't tell anyone it's my birthday on 3rd Apr!!
