  1. Changes made from version 2.90 to 2.92: Report problems with beta software to ColoradoBeta@garmin.com Added customizable text to unit power-on screen (see \Garmin\startup.txt) Improved power on reliability Improved connection reliability with Spanner Improved appearance of depth data field when using big numbers Fixed some scan points not working properly with Garmin GB Discoverer maps Fixed issue with Garmin GB Discover maps not showing at some zoom levels with detail set to least Fixed errors in user grid entry Fixed the time label of the graph in Elevation Plot Fixed selection of Leap Day on Calendar, Hunt & Fish and Sun & Moon pages
  2. I have used the 760 since it came to the marked. It its one of the best Nüvi you can get. Lots of function and you can use it to caching with the Nüvi macro. I would say that it's better then nearly all the Nüvi that has been released later, 800 series 1200, 1300, 1400 etc. Garmin seems to be removing function and have to little CPU in their new GPS. Not that it is perfect, but one of best in it's class.
  3. It is also possible to convert a track to a transparent maps, but this take some skill to do.
  4. I would suggest a 60CSx. Not the latest, but: good screen micro SD do support auto routing
  5. As far as I understand, Garmin will with the new 2010 maps going from 1 update a year to 4 times a year. Same in Europe.
  6. This thread should be closed. Do a search and you will find many long threads discussing difference between 76 and 60 series GPS.
  7. Internal memory can not be upgraded. But you can use SD card. But I do like more internal memory, since there I can use different filenames for maps, like gmapprom.img gmapsupp.img gmapoem.img ++ On SD card you can only have one map file, gmapsupp.img Also read this: http://garmincolorado.wikispaces.com/
  8. Garmin do not post in detail what has been updated. Mostly new roads, and error correction are done. There are 4 new maps each year.
  9. From my post in the link above: DVD + You can plan a trip ahead, study the map on PC with a big screen. If you are going on a cross country trip and would like to plan ahead, it's 10 time more easy to do this on the PC, compare to look in the small GPS screen. Not possible if you have the preloaded option.
  10. Read my post here: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...t&p=3830063
  11. Yes, it looks like Garmin has removed it: http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection....ct=999-99999-10
  12. There are mods for the firmware that gives European language on the US model.
  13. Best solution is to make the cable described in the link above, then you can just plug it inn, and all should work.
  14. This trick is a work around. Its better to get the correct cable. Here is the the solution. (Found using google) http://pinouts.ru/GPS/garmin_nuvi_power_pinout.shtml
  15. It may work. If you connect any USB power on a Nüvi with standard cable, it will go into PC mode and is useless as a navigation device. You need a special cable where one of the wire is connected to ground with a resistor of a specific value. This will make the Nüvi to work as a GPS without going into PC mode. Not sure where you find more info about this (I do not remember where I did read about it). Try google.
  16. And on the 60/76 GPS you can do averaging to give a more accurate result. Using multiple reading over time to get it more accurate.
  17. Not true. The 885 is slow compare to 760 and 765 The 1300 and 1400 has removed lots of function, compare to 7xx and 8xx Get a Nüvi 760. Not the latest and greatest, but you can get a good deal.
  18. You can rename gmapsupp.img to gmapprom.img and the other way around. One very important difference is that gmapsupp.img is over written when you store new map to the GPS, gmapprom.img is not.
  19. @strumble Please update header of the first post (in advance modus), so that we know whats inside. Thanks.
  20. It would not be any new if Garmin does remove the "D" for WAAS/EGNOS. It has already been done for the Nüvi series.
  21. Like the 60 series? It works better the more sun you have.
  22. It very often different in whats supported and whats working. What I do is to have several gmapsupp.img on my 8GB card. gmapsupp1.img gmapsupp2.img gmapsupp.img I then use my cell phone to rename either 1 or 2 to gmapsupp.img This way I do overcome 2025 segment 2GB limit.
  23. Quest 2 has very limited CPU and was withdrawn in Europe and only sold some month. It may work better with non-NT maps, so that the unit do not need to use CPU to decompress the maps. Also try latest firmware. You may need to get a new GPS to solve this.
