  1. I have used it for long times on my MTB and it works nice. It is not expensive. $10 look here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=370230362835
  2. It's possible to convert gmapsupp.img files back to mapsource version, but it's not easy at all. (I can not help you) NT maps and Bluechart are not possible to convert back.
  3. Just run Garmin WebUpdater. Make sure to rune it more than once to get all updates.
  4. If you use a phone that supports Garmin Mobile XT, you can then use the famous Nüvi macro and get a great GeoCaching phone. I do use Nokia 5800 that has a large touch screen and built in GPS with only 5 sec to fix.
  5. You can use the Nüvi Macro to make POI caches with long description that contains logs, info, tips. Since this uses POI, you can have several million Geocache in your Colorado/Oregon. I do like the screen on 60CSx, since it's many times better to look at compare to Colorado/Oregon.
  6. After I updated my Colorado 300 to 2.94, it does fade to off while power on, after about 19 sec while loading maps. If I remove the 8GB SD card with CN Europe 2010, it does boot up. Going back to 2.92 and it now works ok again. Downgrading was not flawless either. After copying the firmware file it no longer booted (without card) I needed to hold the key in the rotate knob pressed whil booting, and then was able to downgrade it.
  7. Not sure how I did it. When I try to redownload the map from my.garmin.com, it now hangs on the yellow button and do not find my GPS
  8. On the internal memory you can have: gmapsupp.img gmapbmap.img gmapoem.img gmapprom.img On sd card, you can only use: gmapsupp.img Hopefully we get a firmware like the Oregon, that reads any img files.
  9. I have no problem using CityXplorer Oslo in my Colorado 300. But not sure if its worth it, since I can barely see any difference compare to City Navigator Europe. I did just copy the gmapsupp.img file to the GPS \Garmin folder. If you already have a gmpasupp.img on your internal memory, you may rename the CityXplorer maps to gmapoem.img (does not work on the sd card)
  10. Changes made from version 2.99 to 3.01: * Fixed improper shutdown.
  11. You can download a free world wide base map here: https://buy.garmin.com/shop/store/downloads...8&pID=11413 Use winrar to extract files form the exe files. Locate then gmapbmap.img Worldwide Roads Basemap 19.04.2007 Also one located here, but older: http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=461
  12. Nokia 5800 XpressMusic It has a large touch screen and works nice with Garmin Mobile XT This GPS looks like the Nüvi series and supports Topo, Road and Sea charts. (nearly all Garmin maps do work) You can then use the Nüvi macro here at the forum
  13. You must have done some wrong. Colorado with City Navigator do support Turn by Turn routing. You may have set the GPS to offroad, it will then just give straight lines.
  14. As stated in first post of second link, it seems to be an error in update of MTK ship set. If they both use the same they have same problem. Wonder how many other GPS that will be affected by this?
  15. More info here: http://iqc.garmin.com/eCustomer/KODSelfSer...6-000000000000} and here: http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=127184
  16. I do also like my Colorado and feel that is dependable. Yesterday I did use it for a 181km long bike ride. http://sykkelspor.no/node/480 Average heart rate 148 Average cadence 83 Average speed 30.8 km/h
  17. You can add maps to both internal and external memory, but on internal you can use several file names for maps, and on external only one. Internal gmapsupp.img gmapbmap.img gmapprom.img gmapoem.img External gmapsupp.img So you are more flexible with large internal memory. Not a big problem, but a different.
  18. Mine too has worked without any problem for more than one year. In response to the startup.txt and Norwegian character, Garmin did answer this: The Colorado assumes the file is saved in UTF-8 encoding. If you are using Notepad in Windows to edit the startup.txt, make sure to set the Encoding to UTF-8 in the Save As dialogue.
  19. Do a search on this site and you will find lots of information. You can also look at the Oregon wiki http://garminoregon.wikispaces.com/
  20. I needed to remove my self created file to make it work. But it does NOT suppprt Norwegian character "Ø" It will not show message on screen.
  21. Can you post the content of the file. I added the startup.txt file before I did the upgrade, and it only has what I added to the file. It does not show on boot.
  22. Thats not good. I guess that it will not help with warranty. 2.92 uploaded to my Colorado. Seems to work fine. Not sure what to put into \Garmin\startup.txt to make it work.
  23. Do a search here in the forum. This has been answered many times before.
