Well I think it's a great idea! Also I'm currently high bidder. I normally spend 20.00 or more on putting together a cache...not counting the dreaded trip to Walmart. If I can get this for less than 20 bucks and it is all it says it is.....I'll be a happy camper. I also see nothing wrong with someone trying to make a buck off of this. I feel your pain. I'm from Pensacola, I live in NC now, and during my last vacation I looked for caches in the area...not many. It seems most in that area want to plant caches that can only be reached by boat. None the less...welcome to Geocaching! Trust me it will get better there. As far as I know.....there is no way to download the info in your GPS. As far as the zoom question...check to see if your unit is set to auto zoom. Hope this helps. El Diablo Everything you do in life...will impact someone,for better or for worse.

No pun intended. Look at it this way.....if there were no Garmins or Megallens (did I spell that right?) there would be no geocaching. So should Jeremy pay these companies a fee? After all if it weren't for them he would be out of business! I for one support Geocaching and I show it by being a chartered member. Everyone seems to skirt around it...but the bottom line is..it's your cache. You can take the whole thing if you want to. Of all my caches i have yet to go back to one that still had the value of the items that I originally left in it. I have left special items in caches and know that the owners have taken them. I have no problem with this at all. I was doing a cache check one day and found a very cool silver medallion and I took it with me. I'm glad I did...a week later the entire cache was stolen. I'm the one that originally contacted Garmin and told them about Geocaching and that they should use it for sales. The intent back a year ago was to promote what we do. I'm happy to see that they have created a page just for Geocaching! When I orinally talked to them they had never heard of it and promised to check into to it...apparently they did. I think a little common sense goes a long ways. Don't take a ATV to the cache...or a HumV. Pick up trash on your way out. Don't squash the spider you see on the log.......and for Petes sake don't kill every snake you see! El Diablo Everything you do in life...will impact someone,for better or for worse.

I'm just praying that out of the gabillion pictures they took......they can't find one worth using I didn't mind the interview....but geez...I'm not photogentic! I just hope that it creates some more interest in the area. I have ranted about this over my own caches. I really think that the biggest reason that people don't hide them back is that they think they are doing the next cacher a favor. I'm not sure why it is that they think they are so smart that they can find the cache....but the next person couldn't! Just my thought. There should be a news story coming out this Sunday the 30th in the High Point Enterprise paper. I did an interview last week with the reporter Jimmy Tomlin. They also had a photogragher follow me while I placed a cache. Wierd experince having someone take a pic of your every move and I mean your every move. Little Frog was supposed to take him on a cache hunt where he gets to hunt the cache. Should be a good article, so look for it. I just bring my wife...she brings her bag and only God knows what is in there and he is the only one brave enough to look! A hair dryer?? Which trees can you plug it into? You know at one time I was also terrified by snakes. However being a person that hates having something control me....I confronted it. I began by reading everything I could about them. Then I began to search for them. If you are worried about encountering a snake while geocaching......go and try to find one. Chances are, unless you know where to look you won't see one. They are as scared of you as you are of them. Should you encounter one, walk around it. If it is in your path...give it a nudge with your hiking stick. It will move away from you. Snakes will not attack anything it can't eat unless it feels that it is in danger..ie; stepping on it. During the summer snakes will be in the shade..so look over logs or rocks before you step.
