  1. 14. In relation to my trip, what is unique about the following location??

    N 31* 11.818

    W 105*26.787

This last one is worth TWO spots in the drawing, and will take some puzzle solving.

This is where the rabbit crossed the road.

Hi, where did you come from?? Good to see you here!!

Where did I come from? I've been laying low the last couple of days. Road my geobike to school Tuesday and Wednesday and both days had a few near misses. Tuesday a Jeep decided to perform a rolling stop as I was coming down a hill. I had the right of way but some how he didn't see me even though I was only wearing a really bright neon yellow jacket.

Safety Message: When approching an intersection if there is a cyclist almost to it don't speed up. Let the cyclist go first and don't cut him off by turning right. This happened to me this past Saturday.

  3. I'd wait a few more months before you get to worried. I just had a coin come back to life after a 10 month stay in someone's pocket. Everything works out in the end. That coin above is now on its way from Canada to Florida.

  4. Dim your headlights when meeting another vehicle or bike. They can be blinding.

    They sure can be blinding.

Look Twice and you might save another life.

This is another reason the biker should always be prepared! I solved this problem with $400...bought a torch light (wish I could remember the manufacturer). The light was as bright as a headlight, I ALWAYS got the other person to dim their lights (they likely thought I was a motorcycle). The battery pack was made to fit in the water bottle carraige, it lasted for 4 hours of continuous use!!

I know, $400 is tough to come by (I'd be out of luck these days lol), but the cheaper ones work fairly well also. Having enough light to light up the side of the road over the wash of the oncoming vehicle is IMPORTANT!

If I do happen to have to ride at night I put on my really reflective bright neon yellow wind breaker. It reflects perfectly.

Dim the lights for both the bicyclist and the world. Your only creating more light pollution and blinding a cyclist at the same time.

  5. 1) How many caches did we find total Sunday? 6

    2) KAboom and I always make a competition of who finds the most (Tod was always included, but rarely won lol), who won the competition? it was a tie

There's the bike and I posing for my senior picture now for a story.

Last summer I competed in my first bicycle only race. I was over 90 miles and went around Lake Winnebago in Wisconsin. At about half way I was doing great until my worst fear occured. We were riding along until suddenly someone touched their front wheel to anothers back wheel. When this occurs you are almost certain to go down. That person did and it was right in front of me. I tried to avoid it but instead got ran in to the curb. Luckly my bike and I survived and managed to continue, but others were injured and could not go on. I just happens that everyone was required to wear a helmet so there shouldn't have been any head injuries.

  12. Look out for cyclists when opening the car door.

Bill aims to protect cyclists from cars' open doors

MADISON — State legislators want to make it illegal for someone to open a car door into oncoming traffic without checking to make sure it’s safe.

The measures are designed to protect bicyclists from “getting doored.”

Bicyclist Linda Willsey sustained multiple contusions and fractured vertebra when she crashed into a door on a parked car last summer in Madison.

She also received a $10 citation for violating a state law requiring cyclists to ride 3 feet from parked or standing vehicles. The city attorney later dropped the charge.

Democratic Sen. Fred Risser of Madison and others have introduced a bill to wipe out the 3-foot rule and fine motorists who don’t make sure the way is clear before opening doors.

Aldermen have introduced a similar city ordinance in Madison.

  13. The perfect coin to commemorate your visit to what's known as the "Triad" in geocaching. You won't want to miss out on this one at Shop Groundspeak!

Don't worry, the tracking number featured here has been locked.
