This thread was created to see if this is noticed in other regions, not have a debate about coord checkers.
-
Yes I do. I looked at the map of what people had guessed, there were huge blobs of solutions everywhere that was .1 mile from the nearest cache.
-
Anyone know of flameproof containers I could use?? Or should I just spray that bright red fire retardant on caches?...
-
I'm talking about those websites where you plug in your answer and see if you have the right coordinates. Like Evince or Geochecker.
-
I've noticed that coordinate checkers are compromising puzzles. The main thing is, people just plug in coordinates that are .1 mile from the nearest cache until they get a success message. Just wondering if other places are noticing similar trends.
-
Sometimes. Around here, it's totally unpredictable.
-
Print this on labels, and you can apply it to the cache.

My tehcnique is alot different than your guys's...
I just take a plate, some arcrylic paint, and mix up various shades of brown. Not totally mixed, the colors are different and not blended. Then I take a brush and dab it on the can. Takes about half an hour per can. No pics right now.

Nah. Those aren't very good for caching. Get a PN-40, Colorado, Dakota, Oregon, or, if you're willing to go through complicated procedures just to send caches to your GPSr, Magellan and Lowrance have some decent models. But on the serious note, stick with Garmin or DeLorme.
-
If you've already submitted the cache, there's nothing saying your session will time out. Oh yeah, and I just got logged out AGAIN. Just troling through the listings.

A brief powercaching run of ours:
10 minutes, 9 finds. If we had a 4x4 then it'd be possible to keep it up for 24 hours and get it. So there you go. Possible. Totally possible.

Keeping threads alive is tough.

Bottom line is that if you don't like cut and paste logs, don't place cut and paste caches.
Make your caches unique, interesting, or a bit of an adventure and you'll start seeing better logs.
What he said.
I do that, but still get CnP logs.

No mattr where you are, if you carry a firearm while caching, be sure to wear one of these:
As for mountain lions and bears, you don't usually see them, and they're scared of you. The only encounter with dangerous wildlife I've had was with a huge rattler. Could've used a gun in that situation.

Here's my yellowjacket nest:
-
I'd like to make a "fire ant mound". Only crazy people go near them.
It's not a fire ant mound, but I have a 'yellowjacket nest' out in the wild somewhere...

Sure! Great accuracy, can hold a lock virtually anywhere, awesome paperless features, ability to add your own roads/trails, all in all, a great unit with no downsides.

A puzzlemaker's dream is right here.
Or buy some firetacks and do a nightcache. But there's more, too. Like apply <white></white> tags around the coordinates in the description. Ooh and computer code. I'm working on one that'll use satellite numbers. Let you know how it goes.

I say Tube Torcher 2

I once had to disable a whopping total of 41 caches when a fire came through. Fortunately only about 20 burned. But yeah, I have a survival story. There was a cache, the tree it was in burned, the cache (a pill bottle) was still intact and not melted. Most caches, as Holazola mentioned just disappear. Now I'm wondering if I should even put caches in the backcountry.

I own over 100 caches. If someone wanted to put one within a tenth of a mile of one, I'd archive it and let them.

OK, I've put that up, good to know. I'll start using it instead of Geochecker.
