I agree with you when you say it isn't difficult but, that wasn't the point. They knew about it well ahead of time and ignored it even after it became a problem.

Geocaching.com site update October 6th 2011
Destitute replied to OpinioNate's topic in Geocaching HQ communications
Thanks for fixing the maps -
+1 The map(s) are my biggest complaint about this site. I like the new maps zoomed out, but prefer the old maps zoomed in because you can see how many caches are available in the area that you are viewing. It aggravates me that filtering by type no longer works on the old maps. Forget about previewing a pocket query with either map. Neither view is useful to me.

Here is the night cache near where we live Tellico Lake Night Time Adventure Cache Contact us or the cache owner ahead of time and we can get a group to go after it. -
New to Tennessee and want so caching friends
Destitute replied to stephaniemyers's topic in South and Southeast
There aren't as many cachers active in middle Tennessee now as there was several years ago. Dr. Dan is the only one that comes to mind as being active now. I would probably try to catch some of the events that pop up from time to time in Lebanon or Gallatin. There are several coming up in the Knoxville area but, that's 90 minutes away from you. -
I did the same thing to my wife's Colorado. I was able to copy the basemap file from my Oregon to her Colorado. As for Garmin support, they are freaking useless. The individual I talked to was NO help. I know he could have snail mailed a disk with the file or even e-mailed it, if he had been so inclined.

Which is why I didn't click on the link. I'm getting real paranoid of being sent to some malicious website.

The way it looked to me was that they archived caches in the wilderness areas. The NC forestry service is especially protective of them. I don't have a problem with that. One of my favorite caches was archived in Shining Rock Wilderness of the Pisgah National Forest, but there are still several caches near the trailhead that are not in the wilderness area. I'm sure there were more caches eliminated that I didn't notice.

Why? If no one else has hidden anything, go for it. I hid three in an area near my home. I was going to put more cans out then others came along and hid so, which is cool. If they hadn't, I planned to take up the space myself. Btw, I saw an ammo can hidden in Murfreesboro, Tn this weekend at GW7. It was among a sea of micros in a very urban area. Found several micros in places that could have held something larger, but I found no micros in the woods, thank goodness. No sure any of this help, but I can feel your pain, so to speak. I favor small to large caches myself but I also like hunting micros at every tenth of a mile. Good luck and "Endeavor to persevere".

Thanks for all you do. I know it is generally a thankless job that only gets noticed when something goes wrong.

Caches you refuse to log a Found it on.
Destitute replied to Vater_Araignee's topic in General geocaching topics
What about what the CO deserves? One of the main reasons to hide a cache is to get the feedback from the finders, even if its just a note. A note. Like.........in a logbook or somethin'? Good plan! - think I'll go with your idea!! ~* How about a note online? That's what I was referring to. Otherwise, why hide a cache if no one is going to hunt it ? Or why have online logging if no one logs online? Don't want to log online? * shrugs* Your call. -

Seems to work fine for me. Masechusetts State Page This was the one I was talking about. Same error on it as every other state I tried. (TN, GA, ALA, NC) I was looking at "by Local State Page", not "by State". Sorry for the confusion. If this search is no longer an option I'll just burn a PQ once a week to check for events.(Thanks for the suggestion)
-
Seek a cache by local state page isn't working. or has that option been removed? I used it to find future event caches. If its gone, thats cool, I'll find another way to watch for events. If its already been pointed out, I apologize because I didn't see it when I read through all the posts about the "div" tag thingy. Thanks for the hard work.

I'm trying to remember the last time I panicked when I saw a 35mm film canister......

Ditto, there's one or two around here whose caches I won't hunt unless I'm WALKING right by theirs to get to someone else's cache.

Wow. So much for that myth about being born as a result of my parents' love. I've just torn up my copy of "A Purpose Driven Life." I haven't felt quite like this since the day Hydee told me that Signal the Frog wasn't real. Thanks for opening my eyes, briansnat. Does this mean that your father is... Angst? I'm suddenly very confused, and I cannot answer your question. I was born to regulate debates about temporary scrolls of paper stuffed into jeans pockets? Wow. Maybe if I go log 1000 finds on my test cache, my life will make sense again. Hehe
