    Sad Day

    My condolences for your loss.
  2. Thanks to everyone who has offered up trades to help build up the prizing for this project! I still have a number of the coins left and would still like to receive offers of trade so I can continue to build up the grand prize pool. Thanks to everyone for their support. MRJIFFY
  3. Hi, Yes, all the versions are planned to be trackable at this point. Best Regards, MRJIFFY
  4. Hi, Let me know if you are itnerested in trading your new personals for one of the the MRJIFFY Summer Meltdown trader only version posted above. Would love to have a couple of your coins added to the grand prize pool! Best Regards, MRJIFFY
  5. Hi, This will be open to wherever the coins travel to around the globe. My plan is to have about 70% of the coins released in North America and about 30% in other geographies, where they travel to at that point we will have to see. I am also planning on having a couple of special prize weeks for coins that travel the furthest during that week to encourage movement. Should be fun and I will be reaching out to other geocachers soon to help arrange the initial drops in numerous geographies. Thanks for the interest! MRJIFFY
  6. <Moderator edit: Scroll down for the cointest rules> Hi, Thought I would provide everyone with a sneak preview of a coin that will be used in a massive cointest I will be running this upcoming summer (June 21st to Sept. 21st, 2008) for all to participate in. I won’t go in to details yet, but there will be weekly prizes of special versions of this particular coin only available as prizes along with a grand prize of over 100 different non activated geocoins at the end of the summer! The cointest will involve finding and moving one of 50 special versions MRJIFFY’s Summer Meltdown 2008 coins that will be released in to the wilds of the geocaching world starting June 21st, 2008. To be eligible to participate in the cointest, you will need to find, log and take a photo with one of the traveling coins and post it in a yet to be established forum thread for the cointest, and then replace the coin back in to another cache within 5 days of initial retrieval. I have gotten the ok several months ago from Groundspeak to run the cointest and will be posting a new cointest thread with full rules as we get closer to the start date of the cointest. To help build the grand prize of geocoins I am offering an Antique Copper trade only version(planned minting of 40)of this geocoin currently in the geocoin trading forum post #11122. The picture below is the coin version I will be selling to help recoup some of my costs for running the cointest (I estimate it will be around $600 out of pocket for me to run the cointest, even with the coin sales, not including postage costs) The sale version of the coin is currently slated for only 90 coins. I am not taking reservations yet, but will be posting the coin for sale under this thread once I have the coins in hand. I am expecting samples of the coins shortly from Landsharkz. Total minting of this coin is anticipated to be 250 for all versions. The coin is 1.75 in diameter and 3mm thick and finished in hard imitation enamel. The design is the work of Chris Mackey and I think that the finished design looks great. Looking forward to feedback and would certainly appreciate any support in regards to the trader version of this coin to build the grand prize. I am personally donating 20 different unactivated geocoins to the grand prize pool to get things started. Looking forward to everyone's feedback! Best Regards, MRJIFFY <This is the official start of the MRJIFFY’s Summer Meltdown Cointest running from June 21st to Sept. 21st, 2008. I have cleared the structure and design of this cointest many months ago with Groundspeak and have received their approval to run this cointest. The cointest is being run solely by me and Groundspeak is in no way administering this cointest in any way. All the coins in this cointest are trackable at geocaching.com The Rules and structure of the cointest is pretty simple (at least I’ll try and keep it that way). Over the next couple of weeks, there will be 50 Polished Nickel MRJIFFY Summer Meltdown coins released in various geographies of the world by participating geocachers including myself. To participate in the cointest you need to do a few things, these are: 1. Find and log one of the travelling Polished Nickel MRJIFFY Summer Meltdown coins. Only the polished nickel Summer Meltdown coins will count toward this cointest. 2. Take a photo of yourself with the coin. This can be done alone, in a group or whatever format you decide upon. Creativity counts here and I will get in to this further in to this post 3. Post the photo under this thread, along with any stories you might want to add related to either the photo or finding the coin. In the post, you must also include the two digit number that I have written on the piece of paper accompanying the coin and stored inside the vinyl flip. Please ensure the engraved tracking number of the coin cannot be read in your photo. 4. You must replace the coin in to another cache within 7 days of retrieving the coin to provide another opportunity for another geocacher to retrieve the coin. I am relying on the honesty of those participating to not just log a deposit and then give the coin directly to another geocacher(i.e. their friend), let the next geocacher actually “find” the coin in a cache. 5. You must retrieve the coin from a cache, discovering the coin at an event does not count towards this cointest, although you could retrieve the coin from a cache and post a photo with the coin at a separate event to use as your photo submission, as long as the coin is replaced in another cache within the 7 day limit described earlier. If you are the one who retrieves the coin from the event after it is completed, I would consider that ok to post a photo as an entry as long as you deposit it back in to another cache within 7 days of the event end. I would consider only one geocacher able to retrieve the coin from an event, not a group 6. You must post a photo with the coin and accompanying description to participate in this cointest, simply logging the coin does not count as an entry. 7. Each geocacher can only log each unique coin once for the purposes of the cointest, i.e. if you find coin #31, you can only post one entry for coin #31, even if you find the same coin in the future in a different cache. If you find another coin however, i.e. coin #45 you can create a new entry with this new find of coin #45. 8. For each week of the cointest, I plan on awarding two prizes to participants; the first prize will be determined by a random number generator using that weeks postings that meet the above criteria and the second prize determined by what photo/story I find the most worthy of an award for that week. For the purposes of the cointest, each week will run from approximately Monday through to Sunday evening, with the next week starting on Monday. Prizes will be either a LE Foggy Gold Summer Meltdown Coin available only as a prize (30 minted) or one of my organizers Summer Meltdown coins (40 minted) Winners will be announced for the last week at the start of each week in this thread. 9. At the end of the cointest period, I will select a winner from all the valid posts made during the cointest period for a grand prize of approximately 100 different geocoins. I will do this using a random number generator so everyone who participates in the cointest has the opportunity to win. If a group of geocachers finds the coin, the geocacher who makes the posting will be the one who is eligible to win any prizing. I will post at a later time additional details on the 100 coins, there are some very good coins included as part of this grouping! 10. All decisions made by me regarding prizing, eligibility of entries and the start and stop times of each respective week are final and non negotiable. I want this cointest to be fun, so let’s all keep it that way please. Coins should start appearing on June 21st, 2008 and continue to start their journeys throughout many parts of the world over the next 2-3 weeks. They can be found and watched on my profile as I will be the owner of all 50 travelling coins. Good luck to everyone, hope this is as fun as I anticipate it will be! Photos of the Silver coin are below. MRJIFFY smile.gif> <Cointest rules added by moderator>
  7. email sent Thanks Nochipra for making the first trade, only 39 more to go! MRJIFFY
  8. Would love to trade one of these for my MRJIFFY's Summer Meltdown 2008 coins. See trading post #11122 for details. Thanks, MRJIFFY
  9. If you can put me on the list for a couple, I think its a great looking coin! MRJIFFY
  10. Hi, I am now taking trades on my personal cointest coin that I will be running this Summer. I won't go in to deatails on the cointest at this time as its not appropriate for the trading forums, but will say that the cointest will be running all Summer long with the ability to win weekly coin prizes (special edition winner only coins of the MRJIFFY's Summer Meltdown 2008), as well as a grand prize made up of a large collection of geocoins (I am hoping about 100 coins!). I am amassing the grand prize by a donation of a bunch of my own various geocoins (about 20), and by conducting trades with a very special MRJIFFY's Summer Meltdown 2008 Trader only version of the coin minted in Antique Copper. I am minting approximately 250 coins, 40 of which will be Donor Trade only coins in Antique Copper (40 planned to be minted). Some different versions will be minted including about 90 in BN that I will be selling, about 50 travel only version (Silver)that will make up the coins that you need to find to participate in the cointest (more details fot follow in another post as Summer approaches), a version in gold (approximately 30) that can only be won by particpation in the cointest, and about 40 of a special organizers coin (paid for separately out of my own pocket)that I will be trading at a later time for personal use. No other coins or versions will be minted of this coin ever, under any circumstances. The coins are currently having samples produced at the mint and the final minting of the coins should be available within 6-8 weeks, hopefully sooner. The coin is a result of design efforts of Chris Mackey and myself, with Minting to be done through Landsharkz and I think the design looks great. The coins will be 1.75 in size and finished in hard enamels. The trackable at Geocaching.com text is included on the rim of the coins. To build the grand prize of geocoins, I am requesting that all trade offers for one Antique Copper version of this coin include at a minimum one regular geocoin and one LE or AE version of another geocoin. Before anyone starts accusing me of being greedy or rude, please keep in mind that I am personally footing the bill for all of these coins. Selling the 90 will help me recoup some of my costs, but I estimate I will be out of pocket about $600 US to run this cointest. This $600 does not include any costs associated with the organizers coin that I am having minted for myself. Also, all coins collected from the trades of the Trader/Donor only version of the MRJIFFY's Summer Meltdown 2008 Antique Copper Coin will be part of the grand prize at the end of the Summer. I will not be keeping any of the trade/donor coins, not matter how cool the geocoin! I have spoken with Groundspeak several months ago regarding this cointest and have thier ok to go ahead from those discussions. I have attached a JPG of the coin design in Antique Copper. All the coins will be trackable, and there may be some slight variation of the final coin if the samples dont look the way I expect them to. All the coins will be trackable at geocaching.com. I will not be trading any of the other versions, or selling the BN version at this time, so please dont ask me to do so. Trades will be finalized with those offers I feel best meet the needs of building a great grand prize collection of geocoins. I will try posting an actual photo of the trade coin once I get the samples in hand. Email me through my geocaching profile with your trade offers. I wont have time to keep track of all the posts on the trade forum for offers regarding this coin, so your offer may be missed if you offer a trade in this way. Looking forward to the responses! Remember, this is meant to be fun, so lets keep it that way. Best Regards, MRJIFFY
  11. My sincerest condolences for your great loss.
  12. I don't know if that was more painful for the bear or for the cache seeker!
  13. Hi, Received my White Elephant 2nd package about a week ago from Sweden but just have not had the chance to post yet! Included in the package was thre beautiful coins: A great looking Hana Bananaberry Geojelly A very nice 2005 Great Britain coin and a Frozen Buns coin These are all coins I dont have, so thanks very much for your thoughtfullness and generosity! I should mention that there was several very nice postcards with some of the local history of the cachers area written out on the back that made gave a package a very personal touch that I liked very much. Last but not least, some pretty glass ornaments as well as lots and lots of chocolate Euro coins! I ate them all within 24 hours of receiving my package, thank you they were very tasty. Thank you Mousekakat for your thoughtfullness, it is very much appreciated! PS - The new job is going very well, hope that good things are finding there way to you as well! MRJIFFY
  14. No other forms to Norway, but it's nice if you call them game tokens instead of coins on the customs form and set the value to just a few $... Same applies for Sweden. Same also applies for Canada
  15. res2100 is a local Ontario geocacher that has some coins for sale, although he really does this through the internet. You can contact him directly and I am sure he can send you his website so you can see them in more detail. They are nice coins, I own several of them myself.
  16. These are great, I would love to get some but see nothing on your pre-order page? MRJIFFY
  17. Congratulations to the all the new Mystery coin recipients! Hopefully the geoforce will find its wasy up here North of the 49th in to Canada. Its a great looking coin.
  18. Alright, my guess is 83 people will attend the event. For the strange fact, here is a law from Neward, NJ on the books! In Neward, it is illegal to sell ice cream after 6pm, unless the customer has a note from his/her doctor. Better stock up earlier in the day during July and August. Have a great event!
  19. Am doing a personal...sort of. Its a little different and not really easy to explain unless I give away my plans. However, I can say the coins will not be sold, and will only be able to be traded or won (most of them will be won...hint hint, it's a really BIG cointest!) Just working out the final coin design now. Stay tuned!
  20. Hi Jim, Please keep me in mind once your traders arrive!
  21. I have some extra of the Dog coins available for trade as well if anyone is interested. Nice coins
  22. Hi, Well, looks like the Holidays are extending well in to 2008! While checking the mail I found a package addressed to me from me!!! Could it be.....sure enough there was the magical stocking mystery coin, with a metallic blue trim no less (my favorite!). I have been out of work for the last two months and just accepted a job offer on Friday, and now this very special treat arrives in the mail on the Monday, what a great couple of days! Thanks very much to the Mystery Santa for your generosity. MRJIFFY
  23. oooh Glad to see someone getting interested! And no, its not a mystery coin, but something else quite different that may also require a little bit of luck (although there will be opportunities to stack your odds a little)
  24. Thanks for bumping this. This thread was started prior to my entering the hobby and the information in it was very useful!
  25. Lots of great coins out this year, but a couple stand our for me personally: The Templar coins Wisconsin 2007 Coin Biercoins by Sepp & Berta Looking forward to 2008! I will be doing something special in 2008 for a coin that many folks will have the opportunity to participate in, so stay tuned! Best Regards, Jason aka MRJIFFY
