  1. ..... part of our phone a friend network......

    Are you not giving or receiving hints every time you are on the "phone a friend network"?

    email = no hints

    phone = hints OK

    It doesn't seem right.

    When you join our phone a friend network you give permission for anyone who is also a member to give hints to other members who ask for a hint. This means you have owner consent to give hints. I won't give hints over the phone or in email to anyone who asks for hints unless they are my caches or I have consent from other cache owners to give hints. Does that spell it out for you better?

  2. We have found some hard to find caches. Seems like after we tackle a hard one we get emails from cachers who had a DNF and they are asking us for hints. We will not give hints to cachers unless we have permission from the cache owner to do so. (We know the cache owner personally or the cache owner is part of our phone a friend network)

    Has anyone had this happen to them, and what would you do? Give hints or send back an email nicely explaining why you don't give hints?

  3. Coke will leak out if lid not on tight enough after breaking the original seal. Was going to camo paint the bottle, will the sun still degrade it?

    Off topic, we have been under flood watches for the past 3 days Starbrand. Have had some real gully washers. You might want to check your caches if you have them near hear, there has been flooding, but water was gone down within one hour of rain. It has been raining all day today.

  4. O.K. here goes. You can see our current avitar, but it really just shows half the team. Hubby is a firefighter, I am a RN. Our other two team members are teens. The 17 y.o. girl, likes anime, Japan and anything Canadian. The 15 y.o. boy is "emo". He wears girl pants, listens to "emo" music.. has black hair that is shorter in back and bangs cover his face. Does anyone think they can make an avitar that shows all four of us and uses the name Team Fireboy? Thanks in advance for trying!

  5. Avitar signs are DEAF HUNT. My G-Ma is deaf. I was in Indianapolis because she was in the hospital. When she got out we went to eat dinner at Cracker Barrel. I showed her how to cache there. She was excited to learn something new. But she does not have the ability to be online, she has not learned computers. She is 89 years old. She told me when she comes out here to visit she would like to do some more "caching" with her granddaughter and great grand daughter. Amazing woman. <_<

  6. Have you tried going to GCCO, www.geocachingcolo.com to post on the forums there. It is the Colo statewide geocaching group. I would bet that would narrow your search for the missing multi. Great group of folks, even accepted a "out of stater" in their club. I live in Cheyenne, was born and raised in COLO. So I cache a lot there. Know most of the caches in Ft Collins area, but, some new ones in Poudre and Big Thompson river valley we haven't done.

    Edit to add links, this is the first post I have added a link to, still learning.

  7. Thanks again Knight2000. I must learn how to post websites. I was issuing an "hope I didn't offend" statement because my hubby is at work with the nomex bunkers and I didn't want to get flamed without any protection. I have been reading the PB Jar debacle and didn't want my post to start a fire here.

    You have been so gracious to excuse this noobs forum posting boo boos. Thanks. :laughing:

  8. Knight2000. The website I listed is the only way I found Kinder egg toys. It was on the little bag that held the kinder egg toy my daughter traded for. I am sorry if I caused anyone to be offended. (not saying you were offended) by my lack of inexperience on how to post websites on the forums. I am a noob at this. BTW thank you for posting the pictures. We all enjoyed putting the toy together too and I am 40 years old. My kids call me a geek. :laughing:

  9. Perhaps a little clarification.

    The Kinder Egg toys that I am speaking of DOES NOT CONTAIN ANY FOOD ITEMS.

    They are plastic eggs filled with a toy, trinket or figurine that is inside the egg. Kinda like plastic easter eggs.

    You can buy them and have them shipped to USA legally. THEY ARE NOT A FOOD ITEM!

    You can find them here : www.kindersuprise.com

    Yes, they can come in a variety that is a chocolate shaped egg, with the toy inside the chocolate. I will NOT PUT FOOD ITEMS INTO A CACHE.

    My daughter must have been right about how popular they are, she seems to have her finger on the pulse of what youngsters like.

    Thanks to the positive post I have read here, we are going to go ahead and order some and have it as one of our new additions to our swag bag.

    Thanks all! :laughing:

  10. The Kinder Egg toys that we are thinking of buying are not in the USA. We would be shipping from Germany. That adds to the expense, thus why we thought getting some more info from people who have used them would be a good idea.

    We can buy them without the chocolate, but have had a real chocolate one and I agree the chocolate is good.

    :laughing:

  11. HI

    We were thinking about buying some Kinder egg toys for swag in kid friendly caches. My 17 year old daughter tells us that these little toys are all the rage. She has personally traded for two of them. :laughing: Of course, we would not use the chocolate variety, but rather the ones in plastic eggs or in little plastic bags.

    What has been your experience with the kinder egg toys?

    Just adding to our swag bag... would like some thoughts from others who have tried these.

    THANKS !

  12. Phenylketonuria = PKU. Most states have a law requiring testing of babies within 72 hours of birth. My nephew has PKU. His body cannot breakdown phenylketone and other metabolites of phenylalanine. He has a VERY special diet! Phenylalanine is an essential amino acid needed for normal growth of humans. His body cannot break it into tyrosine. He lacks the enzyme phenylalanine hydroxylase and therefore toxic levels of phenylalanine can build up in his brain tissue and make him have progressive mental retardation, among other side effects if not treated. It is a metabolic disorder. He is 17 and a senior in High school, 3.2 GPA. His mom has done a VERY good job of raising him, controlling his diet. He can't even take tylenol, read the warnings for PKU on the package. He wishes he just had an allergy to peanuts, then he could just try to AVOID peanuts.. which is much easier than avoiding almost every known food to man. Yes, I know about PKU. I learned about it in nursing school, before I married my husband and met our nephew.

    I know this is totally off topic, but maybe it will help to place the peanut allergy / PB jar cache into a little perspective for just one person.

    I am allergic to LATEX. I work in a ER. I know how to handle my allergy. I attempt to avoid latex, try that in a hospital. Do I worry about someone eating a latex glove in a room where I am working. Well, yes, but only because they could block their own airway and I would have to perform CPR in an attempt to save them. Not because I am afraid that the eating of the latex glove near me could harm me.

    All life or the act of living contains risk. IMHO it's up to the "livee" to decide which risks to take.
