  3. This is our yearly reminder to consider taking your canine friend(s) through a rattlesnake avoidance course. Ginger! has had a session plus a refresher course, and will be getting another refresher course this year. It will be Mocha!'s first session. We've used Patrick Callahan in the past, but may use Natural Solutions this year. There is also High on Kennels in Santa Ysabel, but their 2009 schedule is not out yet, and it's a bit of a drive - but there are some caches I need out there.

Ginger! has had two direct rattler encounters in which she encountered the snake first and jumped out of the way as soon as it started rattling. The refresher course will be to focus on the sight and smell avoidance as that is her weak point. Plus, there are accounts of rattle-less rattlesnakes making the news.

    Hi Chuy!

Kurt would like me to also take Bubba to the class you go to for Mocha! since they are the same age and their first training. I would like to inquire about a discount for cachers of course! let me know at I will persue it as we have a personal network to qualify as well.

  4. :D

Let's set up a long term thread that we can all talk about caching in and around San Diego County.

See what you started...nice threads, thanks! I want to go...so will Rottie "Bubba". Hope the family will join us too!

You can go take a nap now

My family was going to surprise me for my birthday Sunday with a day of geocaching...then this showed up right near us! Our chev 4x4 is a fat Suburban and those roads look skinny (YOUTUBE). We also have a dirt bike we used to cache some of Anderson Truck Trail. Anyone have suggestions?

  6. There's a notice at the Village Store today that a mountain lion had been spotted consecutively for two days, two weeks ago in the greenspace at Wikiup and Watt. The lion has been stalking homeowners' dogs--big dogs 100 lbs or so. It took down someone dog right in front of the owner according to the flier.

    Be safe!

    Thank you for the notice!
