Hi TeamPanda greetings from Texas! My sister is in Arkansas (Rogers to be exact) you might drop her a line sometime. She and her family are geonuts too! Her username: RockyMountainFlea. Good Luck with the Magellan I've got a Sporttrack Map and when I first started, I e-mailed Magellan on a programing issue. Got a quick response but it didn't help. I finally figured it out on my own. I'll be up around your neck of the woods around the 16th of this month. What will I be doing, you ask? Geocaching with my sister and her family of course. See ya on the trail!

I'm considering going paperless....Does anyone know if the spinner and plunker works with the HP Jornadas?

Welch, you pretty much covered it. Just one more thing....I said this in an earlier thread too. Make sure that the COM port you pick isn't being used by a program like Activesync. My PDA is connected to a usb cable but activesync was using both the com port and the usb cable. I simply (after the help of several member cachers) selected the Activesync software to use only the usb cable port. I have a Sporttrack Map but they all pretty much work the same way. Good Luck!
-
Just to add a note.....I want to tell you, if you still have trouble with uploading and downloading .loc files check those COM port issues!!!!!!! Eventhough I had my Jornada PDA on a USB cable my Activesync software kept tying up my COM 1 port. Just made sure that the properties on Activesync were set to look at the usb port only! I am a premium member too and load my Sporttrak Map with the .gpx files. It may be worth becoming a premiuim member. How's that for a Geoplug!!! Good Luck! and just like Compucash said take your time......get used to the unit then add to it. My $.02 worth.

Avatar Creation Requests, Submissions, And Help.

Amish Hacker #2 looks pretty cool...it took a little getting used to but I kinda like it! I am looking for more of my original avatar. Thanks Amishhacker, One more request, if you're up to it. Could you possibly send me a full size version of the picture for my other stuff! T-shirts and geocards? Thanks That is the full size. I create most of them 75 pix wide. It will take a lot more work to come up with a 300 resolution....but its on my list Thanks Amishhacker, It's people like you that make this community a pleasure to be apart of. I haven't met / talked with a person yet that doesn't exemplify the geocaching spirit! (okay I'll get off the soapbox now ) Thanks again! -

Amish Hacker #2 looks pretty cool...it took a little getting used to but I kinda like it! I am looking for more of my original avatar. Thanks You know......on second thought. It really looks good! I like that "special" touch of the colors coming out at my actual location. I really do appreciate the work you put into it. And again congrats on the newcomer! -

Hey Amish Hacker, I appreciate the offer on the avatar. I need some help as you can see! It's smudgy and you can't see the details. I also was thinking about the Groundspeak logo colors in the outline of texas instead of the bluebonnets. Can you offer up any assistance? -
Okay, 1 more time.

Just checking my avatar!

I really like this idea! I do agree that the maintenance could be overwhelming but the cacher's I've met would gladly take care of the cache for the next guy.

False Rocks, And Electric Boxes?
texastracker replied to Team Virginia Browns's topic in How do I...?
I recently came across a cache I actually had to go back a second time to find. It was disquised as a light bulb in a light with conduit and an electrical box running to it. In the electrical box was a fishing reel with a line that ran up the conduit to the light. Releasing the line allowed you to retrieve the cache. Then cranking the reel put it back in it's place. VERY INVENTIVE!!!!! -
I have to agree with a couple of the others. Sulfur and garlic are your best bets when trying to keep ticks off in the woods. I suggest dusting your pant legs with the sulfur (you can get it at the local feed store) and adding "odorless" garlic supplements in your daily diet. Garlic has several healthly qualities as well as keeping the ticks away. "If something's worth doing..........you do it!"

My Magellan Sportrak Not Accurate?
texastracker replied to SnowLeopard's topic in GPS technology and devices
I've had similar issues with my unit. I simply erased the memory and set the unit back up! So if you see a problem with points not matching you might give that a try. -
Although I had a little trouble with my unit recently (my fault not the units'). I have to say my Sportrack Map GPS has been a good unit. My friends have a Etrex Legend and a Compaq with the GPS adapter and neither one does the job the Sportrack Map does. As a first timer, I didn't want to get too "over-techy" with my unit but I also didn't want to go cheap either. "Middle of the road for me"! Plus it's waterproof. Good Luck in finding a unit!

Magellan Sporttrack Map Issues
texastracker replied to texastracker's topic in GPS technology and devices
Thanks to all......I actually have a buddy down the street that deals with the com port issues in his work so I'll get him to figure this thing out once and for all. I really appreciate you all helping. See you on the trail! -
Magellan Sporttrack Map Issues
texastracker replied to texastracker's topic in GPS technology and devices
It's telling me another device is using the COM1 (could be the issue). How can I find out what it is?
