This sounds like a fantastic series! I know for us they would be worth the trip to go hunt them.

I like this idea. I'll check into getting one placed in our neck of the woods.

Are there any GPO's in Arkansas?

This is a really neat idea if I understand it right. A cacher picks up a postcard from a GPO cache and moves it to another appropriately sized cache. So on and so forth until it reaches its goal. Does the postcard's goal have to be another GPO cache?

I agree. I don't think most cachers walk around with large trash bags and gloves. We actually do carry large trash bags and even a burlap type one for gathering trash like bottles and such in case they break. On one of our recent logs we did mention a cache area needing a CITO but it was in the context of an event. When we mentioned it in our log we also volunteered to help so maybe some cachers are just letting the cache owner know that they would be willing to help?

Our family had our first night caching adventure just a couple of days ago. We left the house pajamas and all looking for GC18CEB and DNF'd the cache the first time. My wife was so nervous and when I yelled "BEAR" she absolutely freaked out! It was so funny.

We found a multi once that had a five or six foot pole with a hook on it hidden in a fencepost for the first stage. The second stage was a camouflaged birdhouse high in a tree. You used the pole to hook into an eyelet on the bottom of the birdhouse and pull it down. A tape measure was attached to the base of the birdhouse which allowed it to go back into place. It was awesome!

But I seem to be not seeing the "submit" button? Where is that please? I do see the "I agree...." boxes, just not the means to save the edits. The submit button is at the very bottom of the page under the 2 agree buttons. Hope that helps.

Welcome to geocaching! This is a great family activity that I'm sure you will enjoy. Our family has been doing this for a few months and have had the time of our lives.

Glad to see I'm not alone in this. I easily have $20.00 or more in all my ammo cans. I have over seven just waiting to go now not including the various small containers I have already camouflaged. Just looking for that choice location. I've made plans to go get more soon. I guess that's an upside to living in an area with little activity. Its not like I have to worry about that 0.10mi rule.

That looks painful. Poor guy. I was showing my daughter (she's four) the pictures and she said you should feed him lots of ice cream until he feels better.

It's only a find if you sign the logbook. That one would get a cache "Needs Maintenance" log from me. Ditto.

From now on the GPSr is taped to my wife's back. Just stick it in your pocket. I carry mine there and I never have any problems with reception.

Repel and Off are both good products. Deet isn't a health issue, unless you're putting near/on your face a lot. It's the inhaling of Deet (so I've heard) that is the dangerous part. Went out this weekend and sprayed only open skin, not clothing. No ticks, but LOTS (like whole feet covered) of chiggers. I recommend that you spray all of you, even your clothing. They like your feet and waist band areas. I live on 17 acres and this is the 1st real problem I've had. Ticks are standard, but the chiggers are the worst thing I've ever experienced. Cindy Chiggers are a nightmare. We always spray deet over all our exposed skin and on our clothes. We didn't spray our clothes earlier this year and the little buggers found there way in all the time. I read an article on Backpacker magazine and they tested a lot of repellents the best ones containing 30% deet. Anything over that was basically overkill.

We do it the old fashioned way. Pick them off. I have discovered much to the delight of my children and the disdain of my wife that if you put a live tick on a hard surface, and then put a lighter flame on it, they'll pop! It makes the after caching tick check more fun! Deep Woods Off works great to keep them away.
