  1. So I did, well spotted. I've edited it tout de suite.
  2. Now now Nick, it was your suggestion to do the WoL, and we've done that one. No, I already have plans for something a little more challenging in the Angus Glens - not too far from you. However, I do also have an idea for a nice sea breezy coastal route for next summer, to include the chain walk, so that we can avoid those nasty midgies.
  3. I'm hoping to organise another SGDO for Sunday November 7th, so keep a look out for it and keep your diaries free for that day.
  4. Yes - perhaps a new cacher might not, but a lot of cachers like a challenge don't they? It wasn't all that long ago that 12 cachers took the best part of a day to walk up a mountain covering 9 miles over 1300 metres to get one cache.
  5. Great caches in Ayrshire FFB, but most of them are not quick and easy finds! Edinburgh's the Scottish caching capital!! (Ducks before the rod comes flying)
  6. That's a really good idea. If every cacher made a contribution in this way, I expect it could make a huge difference to the environment.
  7. The server often seems to be overloaded on a Sunday - too many cachers trying to log their finds at the same time! Congratulations on your 100th find!
  8. D****, did this Munro 5 years ago, now I'm going to have to do it again!! It's a beauty though on a fine day. BTW don't think that spoiler photo will help much, it all looks the same up there!
  9. I will probably be on public transport; I don't fancy driving and caching in central London. There is one on Hampstead Heath close to my Mum's house where I will be staying, so that one is easy. My Dad lives around the corner from Abbey Road webcam, so I'm going to rope him into helping me with that one. Just looking for others that we could spend an afternoon doing without travelling right across London. I don't have any strong feelings about whether they are micros, virtuals or regular caches. Most caches that I've done, whatever the kind, have been worthwhile: whether the same applies to England as to Scotland I will find out!
  10. I'm planning a long trip South. I'm hoping that fellow cachers might be able to recommend caches that are reasonably quick and easy along one stretch of my journey. This will take me along the A50 to Uttoxeter and then down the M1 to North London. I'm also a bit daunted by the number of caches in North London - but the Regent's Canal series looks like it might be a good one to do.
  11. That's a very strange deal; but I wonder if you are interested in one which says: "WALKATHON BONALY 1998" Bonaly is the local scout camp in the Pentland Hills south of Edinburgh, Scotland. Will send you photo if you send me your email address.
  12. Think we need a supply of those for the next Scottish Geocachers' Day Out!!
  13. Boys!! Boys!! You are so competitive! Now I didn't hear Angela complaining, and she found it after all!
  14. Seconded. It was a great day, and even though I was just watching others doing the caching, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Can anyone elighten me about this statement: I'm confused as I thought the next Scottish cache bash in May 2005 was going to be in the far northeast.
  15. I gave Inukshuk a lift to Balerno for the start of the 2nd Scottish Geocachers' Day Out on the Water of Leith Walkway in Edinburgh. He needed 7 caches to reach 100, so it seemed certain that he would manage it today. I'm very pleased to report that he did. We are going to adopt him into the Scottish Geocaching community for the next 4 years while he's at St. Andrews University. Welcome to Scotland Inukshuk.
  16. Glad to report good service from Garmin - they have replaced my Vista with a shiny new one and I received it a week after sending the faulty one to them. Just in time for the Water of Leith caching event this weekend! All my waypoints are in the new unit as well as maps of the whole of Europe. My only quibble is that they neglected to send me the cord which attaches to it so that you can hang it around your neck.
  17. Just had a big giggle when I realised the caching name of the person who started this thread!! What an appropriate thread for this nonsense! Apologies to the author of the thread for taking it so far off topic!
  18. The Forester is clearly much more knowledgeable than the rest of us, as he knows things that noone else does!! Hmmm, go out caching for a day with two guys, ergo I must be having a relationship with one of them. Logical innit?
  19. Well, Pooter won't be able to claim the event cache then, which necessitates walking (or cycling) the whole walkway.
  20. Don't worry, I think that there will be others doing the walk rather than the cycle. Look out for the new event cache that should appear on or around Thursday evening.
  21. I met Mark briefly during last year's Fox Hunt, having trailed him around Aberdeenshire. He was clearly a very dedicated and enthusiastic person. It was a great shock to hear this news and I hope that his family will know of all of the kind thoughts expressed here, to which I add my own sympathy.
  22. Unfortunately, you've just missed one on August 15th! There's no easy way up Ben Nevis though. it's just a very long (4.5 miles and 1327m climb) hard slog.
  23. It's probably because I spent the first 6 months of my caching career without a GPS. Once I really got going a year ago when I bought my GPS, the stats are a little different: 5.42 weekly average.
