Really, people, if you don't like the topic of a post, just move on and don't reply. This is just a common courtesy. What you may find LAME might be interesting to others. Please, grow up and be nice. Sure, these repeat questions might be better served by using the search function, but it isn't that hard to politely suggest that the poster do a search, then have them lock the post. If you don't post a reply to a lame post, then those posts will eventually go away.

Looks like private property to me. The people that own and run it should be able to decorate the property however they choose within legal limitations of course.

The fee-for-use parks in my area only charge for automobile entry or parking. If I'm seeking a cache in one of these parks I haul my bicycle, park outside the entrance for free, and bike in for free.

I realize that a fantasy football league set up for geocachers it at least boderline off-topic for this forum, so I prior to starting this thread I checked to see if similar posts were allowed in the past. They were. Rules change though (vitual caches, locationless, etc...) and my post announcing a free geocaching fantasy football league was quickly closed with a stern warning to not do it again. Was there a better way for me to tell whether the post was allowable prior to posting?
Problem is, thinking that it would be OK since similar posts were allowed last year, I already started and announced the league, and several geocachers signed up - but not enough to fill the league. Rather than strand the folks who signed up in good faith, I'm re-announcing the league in blatant violation of the warning in hopes that more of you will want to play and the league will fill. If you would like to join, email me for the league password.
I fully expect that this will spike my warn meter, and in any case I'm banning myself from these forums for the duration of the football season as self-imposed punishment. See ya in January (unless TPTB impose a longer ban).

I am going to make every cache I set from now on a Premium and Charter Members only for the first month.
Your idea sounds fine. Except, if it catches on in my area I'll have to become a paying member.
I just couldn't wait a month to hunt every new cache. -
Fight back! Trade out some junk and leave good trade items.

Only some of us say that. Others of us like the numbers. To a large degree each of us gets to enjoy the game in our own way.

It looks like you have to go most of the way through the purchasing process to find out the shipping rate. A lot of online stores do that - it really annoys me. You should still be able to bail out of the purchase if shipping is too high, but what a waste of time.

At least a couple of caches in my area feature decoys. Including this one It adds to the challenge and the fun.

so what you're saying is that regular dishsoap wont have any scents that will cause problems?
I can only report on my experiences. I've had nothing but great results - no problems - with containers that I wash with regular dish soap and rinse with hot water.

I run second hand tupperware through the dishwasher, or hand wash with dish soap and hot water.

Greetings SactoPirateCrew! It is great to welcome an enthusiastic new cacher to my neck of the woods. The local caching group organization is the River City Geocaching and Dining Society (RGCDS) - their website is here.
Next event is the RCGDS Techno Cache, scheduled for Saturday, August 21. Time is 1 P.M. to 4 P.M. at the Fair Oaks Library Conference room (just to the left as you enter the library), 11601 Fair Oaks Blvd., south of Madison.
I don't participate in RGCDS - I'm just not a joiner - but I've heard nothing but good things about the group.

Lapel pins. I have about three dozen so far. They decorate my cork board at work.

I've heard various estimates of the amount of time you have before the oils are absorbed - anywhere from an hour on up. If I know that I'll be tromping around in the woods where PO might be encountered, I bring a package of baby wipes along in the car. If I wipe exposed skin as soon as I get back to the car then wash with soap and water when I get home I've never had a problem.
Also remember to wash your clothes. The oils can linger on the fabric and transfer to your skin.

I don't know of an easy way. You can read the cache descriptions and check the maps to get a good idea of distance from the road. I'm afraid that you may not find many caches that don't require at least a little walking. I like to cache hunt on my bike too, but I wear sneakers and gym shorts (you're obviously a much more serious biker than I am!).

My 9 year old daughter enjoys geocaching with me. My 13 year old daughter doesn't - "I don't do nature" is how she explains it. My wife doesn't like it either, and doesn't like when the girls bring home items they traded for - "You don't know where that's been!".
I've also introduced a brother, brother-in-law, neice, and nephew to the game. They enjoyed it but as far as I know none of them have continued to play.

I normally trade out items that I don't think are appropriate. In this case though I'd have to be darn sure to remember to throw it away promptly. I'd hate to have to explain to my wife if it fell out of my backpack at home.

In my experience it takes anwhere from under an hour to over a week for approval of a simple cache (one that is easily approved with no need for discussion between hider and approver), depending on the approver's availability and how busy he or she is.
I just couldn't wait a month to hunt every new cache.

I don't like those faith based pamphlets as trade items either. I just trade them out - add a trade item that someone might want for each of the pamphlets and toss um.
