  1. The two that I unofficially maintain are significant to me. One is a local classic, and the other was my first find. In both cases I maintain the cache and the original owners will clear the NM log for me. I think I'm going to ask the owner of the latter to just adopt it to me the next time it needs maintenance though. With that being said, yes I do encourage people to maintain caches that are significant to them. A new listing just isn't the same. The only time that I've done this, I moved the final location a significant distance (but kept the rest of the multi the same), and although it was quite successful, I'd have preferred to have been able to adopt the (now archived) original.
  2. Putting a bolt through a fence post that you don't own would be a serious guideline violation. I think that that's the way the cap is actually attached to the post...
  3. So. Did anything ever happen with this article?
  4. Wow... That guy has absolutely no mana after that... I now have the co-ords to a puzzle final 9000 miles away though! Now, where did I leave the keys to the jet? ...
  5. I just put out evil caches with containers that I win See GC1R1JK Looks Great, hard and just a need to do.. I'm just disappointed that the 'Jean-Luc' doesn't exist anymore

  7. Oh I know, and I like that idea. I have heard of caches where the premise was 'take a container, hide it, and you can log your find when your cache is published,' and those were a bit questionable. Now, of course, they're not allowed.
  8. If you're putting out a seed cache, great. Just remember that ALRs are forbidden. If you're actually trying to get people to hide a cache for every one they find, that's really inadvisable. Most people simply aren't going to have the resources to maintain hundreds or even thousands of hides. Not to mention the number of really lame caches that will saturate the entire world if we do this... I'll agree with ReadyOrNot - Quality > Quantity
  9. That will most likely never happen. Tell that to the Hapsburgs... Or the Romanovs... Or any other monarchy that has ever graced the earth. Eventually, monarchies either fall or else lose pretty much all of their powers, and the same thing will likely happen to the Kim Dynasty sooner or later
  10. I mailed it very nearly a week ago - I hope it gets there in the next couple of days!
  11. My though would be to keep the number plate on the reverse, but replace the words 'South Wales Geocachers' with 'Geogelcwyr De Cymru.' Keep me updated though - I'd definitely be interested in getting one! Diolch!
  12. About as much as Canadian Inventions do. As the OP says But if there's a blatantly wrong answer, I reserve the right to correct it. The original answer claimed that Jacques Plante invented the Goalie Mask in 1959, when (by a margin of nearly 3 decades) he wasn't even the first NHL goaltender to wear one in a game. He did develop this though; Which is quite a bit more sophisticated than the one Clint Benedict wore
  13. They really did turn out nicely, didn't they?
  14. Were you the one that suggested this a while ago? If so, I probably still have the email I sent you...
  15. Yes, you should always contact the cache owner for a hint, as suggested. But to me, it looks like a micro in a pine tree. Or Spruce or whatever. Nice neighborhood, too. It's Windsor - It probably is a micro in a tree. I could probably be persuaded to offer a hint for at least one Windsor cache though --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- could you give me a hint to where High Point (GC1ZK3Z) is? PLEASE HELP!!!! -P1623 Well, I'll happily help with my own cache down there, but if you have difficulty with a cache that I've found, I'm sure I could be of assistance. I'm much more familiar with the caches from Walkerville and the west end than I am the few that I've found out near Tecumseh. I only ever go down to Windsor to visit my mother, so I haven't really done all that much caching down there. I've found all but the newest caches along the river, and at one point had all but a couple of the caches north of Tecumseh and west of Walker.
  16. Maybe we can get Ottawa to build a Space Elevator at the posted co-ordinates. Great for the Economic Action Plan.... Sorry - No can do. We can't even build LRT, let alone some sort of fancy space elevator...
  17. After a shot from Montreal Canadien Howie Morenz broke his nose on 7 January, 1930, Clint Benedict of the Montreal Maroons became the first NHL goaltender to wear a mask. He did so in 1930 for five games. Plante was simply the first to popularise it. Here's Clint while he played for the Ottawa Senators With the Maroons And wearing his mask Clint Benedict was born in Ottawa, BTW.

  19. My first LPC: I had found many caches, all of which were at fairly kewl spots, and as a result, I developed a sense of entitlement, believing that being taken to such spots, whether to find an ammo can or a blinky, was the true purpose behind this game. In my defense, I was a few years younger and quite naive about the various intricacies of the game. I was mindlessly following the arrow on my Magellan SporTrak Color, driving down the road, when it pointed at a parking lot. Naturally, I followed, thinking "Someone must've found a really kewl spot in a parking lot!". (sigh...) I looked at the distance and direction and all I saw that matched was a lamp post. Surely, I thought, no one would want to bring me here... What's kewl about 500 acres of sweltering, exhaust laden blacktop bristling with soccer mom driven SUVs? I kept following, and the arrow kept pointing to a particular lamp post. At that point, I assumed the hider had flubbed the coords. Knowing no one would be lame enough to tuck a cache under a lamp post kilt, I checked anyway, since I was there. Out popped a film can, with a naturally soggy log. Santa died for me that day. Hard? I'd say not.
  20. Well, it would have a new owner, so if you happen to notice that it's been adopted, you could always go back. If you're just finding the exact same cache again anyway, you can always claim a second smilie on the original.
  21. Well... I can see different terrain ratings. As somebody pointed out above, some events might require access by boat or even rock climbing (I've never heard of that last, but if it hasn't happened yet, it probably will). But difficulty? Perhaps an event held inside of a corn maze... GCYYQR - Ishpatina Ridge Picnic
  22. If it's for The Hedge Gap cache, I don't see anything wrong with it... Why would it being in 'a place of importance' matter? Anyway, if you really want to archive it, 'archive' is a log type that will stop your cache from showing up in searches for caches. You can't 'delete' it, but that is pretty close. (but I want the FTF... 3200 miles away )
  23. Which is your favorite? A tribute to my geo-idol - 'An Ode to Brian' What kind of swag do you put in them? A route map for the former Bus route #45. It had something to do with the cache, but I've since had to revise the cache description. What size is your favorite to hide? Small What general area are most of you caches in (woods, public, outta the way places, etc..)? Wherever I can find a good place Camo Job? Camo Duct Tape. That is usually it. Basically just talk about YOUR geocache containers. Lock & Locks are by far my favourite
  24. Stick a stamp in it, and you have yourself a Letterbox Hybrid! I almost said this, and then went to check because I figured you would say it.
