+1. I think they should mix things up a bit - a few short/sharp souvenir challenges, 4 wks max, and throw in the odd low-notice-curve-ball, streak-week style. I love a mission to find a bunch of caches, but these do get dull.

I have my number in my profile, its been there for ages, predating the message centre I think. I have had a few texts/calls from cachers struggling with a cache, so it hasn't been a problem. Most contact now comes through the message centre, which is fine....

Is geocaching decreasing in popularity?
lee737 replied to essap2's topic in General geocaching topics
I've said before I think geocaching is in desperate need of an injection of young blood, to keep this game going in the future..... Most of the younger players seem to bore after a short time and leave, very few seem to latch on.... -
Thankfully we have our GPSr and Cachly, which preserve the physical location. The website is plain hopeless for planning/hiding caches...

Favorite Photos Taken While Geocaching

We walked the ridge to see if we could get to the trig marker…. Saw the pinnacle and little cave and knew we had to place a cache. Didn’t have a good enough container with us, so returned 3 days later! -
Do you get FPs for LabCache finds? [solved]

I feel rich now.... I don't think I've ever had more than 30 on hand at any time.... I better spend some more, you can't take them with you! -
How do I deal with a cacher who logs my challenges illegally?

This player clearly gets notifications though, they seem to notice when their logs are deleted.... -

You can report the situation to HQ. -
The more things change the more they stay the same! I don't pay that much attention to the date these days, as we filled our date-found grid! I generally only log at night, which is useful, as the 'other half' of the globe has caught up with us and the date is correct.

Nice.... I got my 10 extra points, this is handy, as my FP balance has been falling lately, I try and keep 20 in the kitty so I can give them out whenever needed, but it had dropped to 15 over the past month. I didn't get the 20 that the blog would suggest I should have though? -
I've had that happen.... I just followed it up with a NA suggesting a reviewer check the situation.

I missed this line first - I do agree to a degree with this. Experienced cachers/hiders should attempt to involve newer cachers more. I'm thinking of the amount of crazy difficult/obscure puzzles that abound. Unless I'm pitching in to a group effort, I've found puzzle solving to be pretty arduous in the past few years, as people seem to be endlessly trying (it seems to me) to be one-upping each other with more and more complex puzzles, the end result generally being hardly anyone gets to find them!

We've signed challenges we'll (almost certainly) never achieve. But in the off chance we move and I can get that 150 day streak done etc, I can log it even after its archived. I *always* post a log photo with challenge notes in case someone wants proof in 10 years after the cache has been replaced 3 times. Nobody has ever been a jerk to me, I'm not even sure what you mean? We don't go out of our way to sign this sort of challenge, only if we happen to be within a short walk/easy find....

We chase them when we can.... it's a fun side game. Yes, we have always been aware they aren't officially recognised by GS....
-
Of course any of us here would just use the website, but we generally aren't newbies, most of whom haven't, and probably will never use the website..... Personally I rarely use the app, the PMO feature I need the most is PQs to populate the GPS, but of course with a bunch of work this can be worked around too....

It does, that's just the combined name myself and my sons log and hide under.....
-
Cool, we like that one too... its ours....

We just hid one in Newcastle..... it wasn't planned that way - but given it was right next to a train station, why not?!
