  1. I too have the Oregon 300... I use GSAK to ul the caches to it (download a PQ into GSAK, then ul it to the 300 from there) I would recomend reading: http://garminoregon.wikispaces.com/ It will answer a lot of questions, but if you have any further ones, let me know... DD
  2. While navigating between caches today (in automotive mode) the GPS simply froze with a turn indicator visible on the map screen. Had to remove batteries to reset unit. Once I did this all was ok, it resumed navigating on the same rout when powered back on. This is under 2.93, with rechargable batteries, which worked fine for the next 8 caches (and still going) so far this is an isolated freeze for me! I am liking 2.93 so far! DD This is the issue with 2.93. I cannot figure out why some people are seeing this and others aren't. GerIRL, how were you powered? Off the auto adapter? Batteries, what type? Were you doing anything special when the shutdowns happened? I use NiMh batt's they are very tight, even with heavy shocks no way they can move.
  3. HEY, I use the exact same setup - PowerEx 2700 mAh batteries and a C-9000 charger: Awesome combo! awesome Batteries!
  4. Screen viewing in the sun is fine for me (YMMV) I am not sure abou the specific maps you are talking about. DD
  5. The results are emailed to you (if you desire) each time someone finds your cache - so if it needs mainteance, you will know. If you get the macro Fid Statistics Generator (on the GSAK website) it will allow you to determine how many people have found your cache, most finds of your cachesby member name, etc... If that is what you are looking for DD
  6. I also just upgraded to the beta and will see what happens... Maybe I will upload a "tracklog" LOL SORRY - I could not resist DD Move to a chessforum, they won't bother you with this gps stuff If you don't need help, some stuff seems ridiculous. If you need a help, every answer might be the helping one.

    Canada

What??!?!!? I live in CANADA? Oh great. Now I'm in trouble. I never actually make fun of Canadians in the Canada forum. Sorry have to go off topic again... I have to say that I had a good laugh at Urkel's post... still chuckling. Back on topic... Katymsw... I hope you found the help you requested amongst all the humour (no that is not a typo... yes we spell that with a "u"). My family and I were in Campbellford last summer (camped at Ferris PP) and loved the town and the locks. There are lots of great caches to be found! The scenery is wonderful too! Enjoy!
  8. You need to use Nroute to display live data!
  9. You may also want to note that we live in Provinces, not Providences. I will send you an email ref contacting another teacher interested in helping... DD
  10. I noticed I have not received any PQ's since the 27 Jan 09, so I had a look at my unfounf PQ that I should receive daily and noticed that the postal code it used to search from had been changed from mine to some strange one. Anyone else notice anything similar??? No PQ for today after resettingit and saving the PQ, but it may take 24 hours to run again.... Hmm.....
  11. How did you "download" the caches? The Oregon cannot have 2000 individual files.... There is an Oregon FAQ on Wikki that you should read, it answers a lot of questions. http://garminoregon.wikispaces.com
  12. I seem to remember reading it is having some issues... maybe they pulled it?? DD
  13. I have noticed you asking a number of questions that appear already here in the forums and on the Oregon FAQ. You may want to search the forums for the answers as these questions appear there already - and that way you wil get an immediate answer. I would suggest reading the Oregon FAQ (http://garminoregon.wikispaces.com/) it should answer most if not all of your questions DD
  14. Welcome to Geocaching! We were up in Kitchener this past weekend (Honeymoon - so no Geocaching) but we do frequent the area as it has an assortment of good, actual Geocaches. If your interested, when the snow melts and we are headed in that direction we can gve ya a shout before we head up.... Team DyverDown
  15. Did you sell the case as well? Also; can I ask what unit you changed over to? DD
  16. I have also had my Oregon for a few months now and have found a couple hundred cache swith it, done auto routing, used it on the water... it ROCKS....
  17. Welcome to Geocaching in Ontario - LOL I'll help ya Tee off - Sorry couldn't resist. In all seriousness, you will probably not be doing any caches in Thunder Bay on a whim so there really is no sense to have them loaded into the GPS all the time. If you plan to head out that way, load the caches in that specific area (that's the point they were trying ot get across) I usually have the caches located within 100 km loaded weekly and then load any specific trip areas we are planning on going to do a few days before we leave. With Geocaching you always want to try to have the latest info as caches become archived (removed) for a number of reasons or new ones are added all the time, so loadign a huge area and never updating it would not be very productive anyways ad the info would quickly become outdated. Hope that helps, DD
  18. Unofficial Speculation - but as an ex and still disappointed Magellan user - about par for them as of late... DD ooooo, that sounds like unofficial speculation...
  19. You can also go onto GC.com and read the logs.... they usually give a fairly good indication of the quality of the local caches.... it will sort them by radial distance from you as well if you search from your home coordinates... Welcome to cachin' DD
  20. Most units have a selection to either follow DST or not. If selected they will update it automatically. DD
