  1. @murs, It's not a bad idea to back up the card just in case, then you can always copy the info back to *the_same_card*. However having said that, it's OK to have other files sitting on the card. When the gps boots it just looks for the "Garmin" folder.
  2. Sounds like Bobcat is just now adding this feature for Mac users. Well it says it's there in the update notes, but it's not implemented yet.
  3. Just heard back from Garmin. Double click the track which will highlight the point in the info editor and it can be deleted. Cmd + i brings up the info palette. I'm still waiting to find out how to join tracks
  4. oops just realised it's DDºMM'SS" so I guess that's OK.
  5. @'Chuy! Check out the version history. http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=3886 # Added ability to select track points on the map # Added ability to delete track points # Added ability to join tracks
  6. That's strange because I can't select points, only the track. And I am using 2.0.04 http://screencast.com/t/SReTzECZ
  7. Garmin says in their 2.0.0.4 beta release that you can now edit individual points in tracks, but I am unable to work out how to do this I've tried various key combo. Any clues?
  8. Thanks. How come when I did a search I get a message saying that I can't search for any 3 letter words?
  9. I know there was a post about this recently but a search is not helping me. This is a really bad search engine. Anyway, I think it was something along the lines that gpx files would still be saved to the 2GB portion that the HCx didn't use, or something like that. Does anyone have that thread bookmarked or can you confirm this? thx
  10. One more thing, why do you need to select 'country'. How about if you select WhereTo>Cities>Spell What happens if you spell the city you want to do to?
  11. Yep, that's the right way to do it. Let us know how it goes.
  12. It's entirely possible if the Lithuanian maps are not by Garmin. The Australian ShonkyLogic Topo maps also cause conflicts with Garmin Maps.
  13. Nothing was going wrong, it happens occasionally and as you have found a reboot solves the problem. Cloud cover doesn't affect the gps signal.
  14. @chief_illini217 Incorrect, the best one was alluded to earlier by a female poster (who shall remain nameless), which is only $20 more than the OP's choice. The Summit will be around $80 more and is exactly the same as the other one (of which we must not speak) and is identical to the Summit but without the fluxgate compass and altimeter, two items I'll wager the OP is not interested in.
  15. @BlueDeuce Perhaps you can explain the need for your sarcastic reply, to my post directed at the OP?
  16. The altimeter will probably be useless but amusing and it doesn't weigh anything. But the electronic compass is useful while not essential. The difference in price between the Legend and Vista is $20. In my opinion it's worth it. It costs not extra battery power and you can turn it off. You can probably get a good online deal with Topo and buy City Nav on eBay at a reasonable price. The Legend/Vista are both excellent for use in the car, superbright easy to read screen and if you use it as I use my gps (and it sounds like you do) then the eTrex is a better unit than a dedicated car gps because you can use useful user-configurable screens that provide excellent information. A magnetic compass also needs to be held flat. And if you are using the compass in the car then a magnetic compass won't work at all however you will be using the gps compass anyway.
  17. A word of advice, there's no point in joining a vibrant internet forum and saying, "just tell me about this thing that I know nothing about and don't tell me about anything else because I've got my fingers in my ears and I'm going 'la la la la la'." If you want to know about the Legend then read about it on Garmin's website. It's virtually impossible for anyone to give you any meaningful answer without somehow bringing up other models. In fact it's not possible to talk about a unit in isolation. So if you are happy take your fingers out of your ears, you will probably get some very useful advice and my well end up with a unit you will be far happier with. </$0.02>
  18. I've got a nuvi 200 with a US primary maps and Europe and Australia on the SD card and it searches whatever country I tell it to. Maybe the problem has to do with changing the UK/Ireland internal map with the Lithuania map? Perhaps it would have been better to leave the original maps and put Europe and Lithuania on the sd card. How about instead of going Where to>Address you can go Where to>Near...
  19. It's all explained here There are several important differences. The practical difference between Lithium batteries and Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries is that most Lithium batteries are not rechargeable but Li-ion batteries are rechargeable. From a chemical standpoint Lithium batteries use lithium in its pure metallic form. Li-ion batteries use lithium compounds which are much more stable than the elemental lithium used in lithium batteries. A lithium battery should never be recharged while lithium-ion batteries are designed to be recharged hundreds of times. No, Lithium-ion batteries are not available in standard sizes. We believe this is because it would be too easy for users to inadvertently put them in a charger not designed for Lithium-ion batteries creating a potentially dangerous situation. (If an alkaline battery is put into the wrong charger it might leak or even burst, but a lithium-ion battery put into a NiCd or NiMH charger not designed for lithium-ion, might ignite. Also, because Li-ion batteries operate at much higher voltage (typically 3.7V per cell) than the 1.2 to 1.5V of most cell batteries, designing a 1.5V lithium-ion cell would be expensive.
  20. With the SD card installed, when you press Where To>Address Do you get a choice to choose Lithuania or Spell Country, or do you only see Lithuania
  21. New Info I couldn't add this to the OP, but here is some more detail. For 'waypoints' the 'Page' button does work as far as exiting the keyboard and being at the correct spot in the list. The 'Zoom In' also has the same effect. It is for 'Addresses' where the the buttons are inconsistent between the various fields. For 'Cities' the page key is no good as it exits and defaults to the top of the list as opposed to the 'Zoom In' button that exits at the correct place. For the 'Number' field ,the Page key actually deletes your entry, and leaves the focus on the 'Number' field, whereas the 'Zoom In' button exits the 'Number' field correctly. The Street field is the same as the 'Address' field with regards to exiting and defaulting to the wrong spot. The 'Zoom In' key has the same effect as the 'Page' key with the Waypoints. So if you get into the habit of using the 'Zoom In' key instead of the 'Page' key then there will be consistency across *all* fields and they will all work. I supposed this could be fixed with a software update, but I wouldn't hold my breath it's too obvious. It's true, I was undone by the endless nested quotes. As of yet no one has answered the question.
  22. There is some tactile feedback on the 76CSx, and consequently the rocker button does not feel as 'spongy'.
  23. No, that won't work, because it defaults to the top of the list, not at the point in the list that you can see. You have no option but to admit you didn't know about this excellent shortcut. <smiley face> another quick edit, 'Page' does work on the 60/76's but not on the eTrex. Actually the thread could be called "Did you know the 60CSx 'Page' button is equivalent to the HCx 'Zoom In' button, in a data field", but I'm not sure it would have fit.
