  1. It just seems a little too expensive for me. NOw if you could maybe get them in bulk....
  2. Now if the question is what do you write then it has to be date then name. Wait date then initials. No its ... oh it's never the same twice that's for sure. However like others, I now too use a stamp (because it really does save time!!!! So then it's stamp. Drat forgot pen so date goes out the window. One less thing to remember at least and if I can't even remember a pen how on earth am I to remember an ever changing made up concept??? So stamp it is then. Often the wrong way up since I had to have the stamp replaced. I can't even remember to put it the right way round.
  3. So you completely ignored this bit when you ticked the box to say you'd complied with the guidelines then? It's nice to know you have such faith in Google maps - I'm sure they'll be delighted to hear that. In the meantime, when you eventually get around to setting a cache whose locally obtained co-ords don't quite match Google's because you're in the woods, or close enough to a building to get consistent signal bounce, will you be kind enough to warn the people looking for it with handheld GPS's ? I do wish more people would check their placement in google maps even after using the GPS to get coords. Too many caches I've found that are out. Though actually really enjoy when I do find them. There is even two caches near meby one owner where oneis well out still despite several needs maitenance logs and their other cache is unfound as.. well you guessed it, it's not at the coords.
  4. The Groundspeak app is good for on the fly when using data. However there is another great app called geosphere that I use for offline use. There'salso another couple of apps I use called iGCT and GCBuddy. The first isgood for some simple tools and the second is good if you are into multis. ___________________________________
  5. It's a shame we can't be masters of how we wantto see cache pages. An option to see 5 logs or thirty or all or scroll. I personally like this new scrolling method but think it would drive me crazy after a while.
  6. Do the “Terms” only refer to the geocaching website? If he's put it on another site (and not posted a link on GC) then is he within the terms?
  7. For most who are unlikely to know, my father introduced me to thus hobby but then bailed after our first caching outing. Well we did have a hit rate of 1 out of 3. Thankfully found the other since.
  8. DG brought me to this a couple of weeks ago. Nice to view and really appreciate the manual hard work. Even more surprised to find that I was spotted on there. That will make my father proud ;-)
  9. It's a fantastic site. Wish I'd taken my camera with me.
  10. Yes please. I was ill when I last did this in 97. Would love to join for the fun.
  11. Without the hint some were most definitely were !what the ....!
  12. they are changing it back apparently
  13. Ok well here goes,I like: You can rate, I like favourites for searching where to go in preference but has a strong impact. If written well they bring back virtuals but then what I like about virtuals are that they were finite. A true locationless action challenge is better than a souvenir as you select what you want (e.g. http://coord.info/CX246). Challenges can be made fun and silly with only imagination.
  14. I like the WTF series that speciffically says try without the hint. Nice touch.
  15. I hope they stay silly. Less directed at being anti-challenges yes, but silly. I won't enjoy getting a photo at a trig point where there's already a cache.... I would enjoy getting my photo taken drinking from my flask of coffee inside a Costa branch. For me it's only the silly that can make challenges interesting for the masses. Oh I love the idea of an intentionally silly challenge of drinking from a flask in a coffee shop. A must, if someone has a link to one then please share. On the other hand my silly season was more directed at armchair "caching" even if legitmate completing.
  16. What would have been nice would have been for the system to send an e-mail when someone comments on my log, flags a challenge. I suppose that would be open to abuse but it would have allowed me to either delete or archive. The community policing I think will clean up but some just might not realise it's happened and either keep logging or setting after silly season.
  17. I agree I was one of the silly season people logging a complete for this (and a few others). My tounge was firmly in cheek as I logged them. I didn't try and hide the fact that it was an armchair log but I was using a photo on my window sill and only following the text. I suppose I took my lead from the kiss a frog cache which is location less (but then getting caught up in silly season doesn't really wash). I will say that I regret it though as actually I think there should be a rule that it has to be done at location or back dating. And no that doesn't go without saying, especially with the early examples. Just discovered you can delete your own logs :-) . Now there's a dilema. On the one hand I want to keep it as I followed the text but in the spirit of the challenge and especially as it can't be edited by the CO (And no I'm not saying cache owner but rather challenge owner).
  18. Moving on from the obvious debate about should these be included in stats etc. Here is an opportunity for those who want to contribute to the discussion without focusing on the negative. Once silly season is over (legitimate armchair completing) then what do you think Challenges will bring to the hobby?
  19. Maybe it was my spelling mistake in the title. I missed the p of complete. Silly smartphone mistake.
  20. 26 currently with their location as "sitting in front of my computer..."
  21. There seem to be a lot of challenges already archived.
  22. I was wondering the same thing. Or to see how many challenges you can complete without getting them disallowed, without leaving your home. Seen CX898 then? How come my challenge has gone? I made sure I wanted people only to complete properly. Shame. A cacher called ChallengeChallenges seems to be doing a grand job at armchair completing.
  23. How about The "Extreme" Waterfall(http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=0bd68cc0-51b5-42ea-b687-33e503870773) whcih is a Trad north of Swansea. I loved it and is most certainly a favorite of mine.
