  1. Didn't know this could be done. Can someone help with how I can set this up please? I hate having the flags.
  2. Oh, I won't use my one from here then. Think I got exactly the same photo. As did the other 26 cachers that were at the event I suspect.
  3. Alibags has now potentially thrown her hat into the ring as well. Anyone else interested? PS - For those interested in the geocaching history, OCB will be there.
  4. Once, I ran out the door for a FTF. The cache page had parking coords but I knew better and parked as close to the cahe coords as I could. I searched for ages (in a carpark). It finnally dawned on me that the coords had been switched.
  5. JOSSS and I were looking at driving to this mega-event in Austria. We are looking for two more people to join us and share the petrol etc Anyone interested?
  6. Always got my order and on one ocassion a cache hinge was broken and they were happy to replace free. Thumbs up from me.
  7. Calling all cachers near bucks: with the main effort being for the Sunday lunch at combe hill, are there 10 cachers who can't make the Sunday but could the Saturday or want to go to both?
  8. OK so I'm going to fail to win due to the first rule. And I've chosen two photos for two caches, well you did say give and take. Mount Sinai (Earthcache) Sunrise Camera capturing sunrise (no, not the photo above) Sharm El Sheikh Naama Bay - 2 (Traditional Cache) Underwater – MP’s peanut captured this, I’m uploading more as I think it’s wonderful. bird bath – suppose fresh water is limited so I don’t blame this LBJ (little brown job)
  9. Just read this and thought that there therefore migt be two as I also put a request for one in the same location. Mine is the day before. Is there enough interest to be there two days in a row???
  10. I read this page last month and didn't want to reply at the time as I didn't know what you were going through. I also had only heard of geodog and never met him. Now returning to the forum and seeing this at the top of the list again I thought I'd have a re-read. This time it's a little closer to home as we had to put our mutt to sleep last week. Time for Tea was a great mutt to go caching with and was one of the main reasons for caching. My thoughts are with you and it's really nice to see that something is good coming out of Caesar's death in the form of the memorial fund. Really nice idea. PS as for the "mugging", it's amazing how a friendly mutt put's people off.
  11. Well said nothing wrong with using a 4x4 where appropriate. Can recommend a couple of good caches for such.
  12. Dubzie86 PM me or Email me a postal address, and I'll bung a few Diabetic Test Strip pots in the post to you. I've got a pile in the cupboard, which is slowly increasing . Waterproof micros, pain free Deci What a great idea. Will be asking my mother in law for a load.
  13. my thoughts exactly, seems such a waste to spend time on that instead of using it to implement new things some good fixes in that list though how selfish. Some of us can only use the web browser provided by company IT. I know I'm not the only one in that position. Thank you for keeping this hobby open to all.
  14. Hi NZ from the UK JOSSS and I recently found the coordinates for a cache where the first stage is in UK and the final is in NZ. The idea being to team up with someone in the other country to find it. We are therefore looking for a cacher to team up with to find the final cache. The UK icon is called OVER THE POLE (North to South) - GCMYD6. It is located at Tauranga race course. There is a reciprocal cache [OVER THE POLE, South to North (Bay of Plenty) - GCMYWH] with the icon located at Tauranga race course and the final is located in Finchampstead, Berks. Sorry but I’ve already found this for a NZ cacher but they are no longer in this area. Any cacher going to be in the area, please e-mail me and I’ll e-mail back the final cords for you to get a UK smiley. Cheers MB and JOSSS
  15. MrsB you are quite right ref the iPhone. With the free Groundspeak intro app you can even have the iPhone explain the whole concept. Used it for border control before and they were happy.
  16. me noticing same problem on work IE. Not fair.
  17. The missus and I took an interresting cab ride on new years day a couple of years ago. The reason it was inretesting was because we were in Peru and asking taxis to take us to the outskirts when we had no address just a rough idea from google. Several taxis wouldn't even take us. Chose an island in the Maldives just because it had an un found cache. That however had been muggled.
  18. no - and not tame either otherwise I would have got it to hop over a bird bath. JOSSS hated me for these caches as I was more interested in taking photos than searching for the caches and still got my hands to them first.
  19. me play me play me play - pleaseeeeeeeee Though I warn you, I too got a new camera which takes fantastic photos. EXCEPT I DON'T KNOW HOW TO USE IT . Or how to take a good photo in the first place . Here are my two for this month's entry GC1DAQ4 - TRS Parsons nose GCPQXG - Wrinklies Stash Oh, looks like I've not uploaded this photo yet. Will have to do it once home tonight and edit this post. Can I make one observation? Can recent mean the month of the comp and the month before?
  20. Dito for me too. Was maintaing one of my caches and approached from a dirrection that I thought might be more popular for cachers and was very pleasently surprised at how the landowner had catered for "careful walkers", there was even a sign to say as such
  21. Think I saw a normal event recently that required you to get there by boat but not a flash-mob style event.
  22. Must admit I had to get the gps out a couple times today when the iPhone was a little shakey.
  23. I hope that you didn't log it then. If it's inappropriate and you say so then you are being hypocritical. Without knowing the situation of that cache I wouldn't want speak out of turn but I've had two similar situations. The first was reference access rights. The cacher logged the find then wrote a note to say it shouldn't be there. The cache is still live today. The second is a dangerous cache that I've set up, it's in the middle of a bypass but on a public footpath. I made this a premium member only cache and got grief for that. You just can't win sometimes. There was also the time I set up a cache series the weekend Groundspeak was "US". Well let's just say that I had previously taken coords but placed them all on the morning they were to go live and re-took some coords quickly with the iPhone as I had moved them slightly. Only for the third cache to be about 150 feet out. Oops, think that was my clanger. The series still hasn't gone live as I want to go and check all the coords (but then my 10 year old GPS 12 isn't know for it's accuracy). My point really is to make an assessment of the location before you go and retrieve; if not appropriate walk away. Not that I ever take my own advice there (ice cold underground streams in Germany, bridge crossings etc). If he found it, he can log it. He can also point out that is placed in an unsuitable position if that is what he feels, which allows cachers to be advised of it. He can also follow it up with an email to the owner, and perhaps elaborate on his reasonings, without openly being over critical to all and sundry. Oh don't get me wrong, I agree he can. And that's one thing I like about events is that you see how much diversity is in this hobby. But personally I'd rather leave something in a log or note (if it's going to be DNA) that says experience more than opinion where it's going to be very contraversial. I don't feel the log is for that. But I think the volenteers should possibly be warned for it to be discussed further. So maybe we're on the same wave length. I just found it very hypocritical for someone to log but saying that "Cache is on private land not open to the public." In which case take a step back. Actually permission was fine and I think Eckington handled it very well.
