  1. Congrats to ALL the winners! What a great contest! I'm looking forward to seeing those sticks all fineshed and 'perdy. I hope you show us the prizes. Again, congrats! And a big......YOU DA BOMB to El Diablo! OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  2. I've got a good multi for you to put on your list as an "easy", very little driving, in town, GOTTA SEE THE TROLL, cache. A Troll's Errand You won't be disappointed. [] OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  3. Here's a DOOSIE!! I was planning a trip to this area yesterday, and came by this one. If you read the logs from earliest to latest, you'll notice something funny happened last year in late July/early August. There is no note from the owner whatsoever? The owner has almost no finds, (can't remember exact find count.) Did I do the right thing? LOL I may have opened a can of "forum worms"!!! OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  4. If you're looking for a "touristy" type cache, bring along a camera (the web-cam is down) and enjoy the Pikes Place Market. It's a must do for all out-of-towners. Even us locals hang out there from time to time. I hope you have a great visit! OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  5. That's not a stupid question. You should be able to togle between true and magnetic north on your GPSr. (what model do you have?) If you have an older model without a manual, simply get a real compass set to true, lay them both on a flat surface outdoors and see if they jive. I hope that helps. There are many websites to "point" (no pun intended) in the right direction. Try a www.google.com search. O Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  6. I've done a few that are memorable and I haven't been caching long. THIS one still stands out as my all time favorite! I wish more people would go after it. It really is a hoot to do. I actually did the Rocky "Gonna Fly Now" dance with my fists in the air when I found it! OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  7. Try posting this same message in the MIDWEST forums. OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  8. LOL Star! I can't stop laughing! OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  9. Since the title of your thread had the words "and related topics" , I decided to point people here. When you see what mother nature can do to herself, it puts our little footprints and occasional fern moving into perspective. OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  10. That is TOO funny, nostrada!! OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  11. YEA! It can be a sort of "pilgramige" to log it! Or a "Haj" if you prefer. (yes, I did yesterday's NY Times crossword. ) OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  12. I agree with you Criminal and I voted as such. I have to admit that I'm still chewing on what MaxEnthropy wrote. OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  13. That's a great testimonial! I've never heard of screw-type rubbermaid containers. Where did you buy it? OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  14. Ooops, I forgot to mention.....You can't vote for yourself. OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  15. Yes, just e-mail your vote to El Diablo. You get to vote for 3 avatars (all in one e-mail). You can only vote if you are in the contest. Good Luck, OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  16. Hmmm? I've never done this, but it would seem to me that if you snag them first from their own bug pages, they would be in your inventory and all you would have to do is mention in your log that you have them. The same goes when you drop them. I could be wrong, of course! OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  17. After reading this entire thread, I have a few thoughts. 1. I was one of the first to read this person's post yesterday. My thoughts were, "Who do you think you are?" I did not post as I have no plans to go caching in her part of the country, nor do I plan on stomping on any sage bushes. 2. Nincehelser, are you trying to wave the "Save the Geocaching image" banner, or are you trying to impale people with it? And lastly, 3. This thread needs an enema! OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  18. I voted, "YES" fight for your rights. I did that only because YOU were the one that got there first, and you followed the rules My vote made it a 50/50 tie. Maybe you could solve this easier if you just move your cache .1 mile away, as Briansnat mentioned. That way you would still have your cache, and you could log the interloper's one, too. You will allways know that you were "first", and it might save ill-will between you and other local cachers. There's my 2 cents worth. OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  19. quote:As far as Pedometers go... try www.pecentral.com do a search for pedometer and you will get some links. Go to the Pedometry link then "ask the experts". I e-mailed and asked my question. Here is the response I received: OG, in order for a pedometer to do this and do it accurately, you would need to maintain the same stride length for every step that you take during your hike. This probably won't happen if you are on varied terrain. A pedometer calculates distance based on number of steps taken and the stride length that you enter into the unit. If each of your steps isn't the same length, then you would need to change the stride length in the unit for each step you take in order for the unit to calculate correctly. Remember--a pedometer calculates distance; it doesn't measure it like a measuring wheel. A pedometer's core function is step counting. -- Teresa Vollenweider President NEW LIFESTYLES, Inc. 5900 Larson Ave. Kansas City, MO 64133 USA Telephone: 816-353-1721 FAX: 816-554-1997 teresa@digiwalker.com http://www.digiwalker.com (pedometer review) and http://www.new-lifestyles.com (online catalog) I just thought I'd pass this info on. 20. Just voted. Boy, it was hard. There a ton of great avatars out there! Can't wait to see who wins. Good luck all! OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  21. quote: Heh, check THIS cache out, the final of this multi was plundered and not replaced for OVER A MONTH, and two people logged a find. I thought this bothered me, but it doesn't really, it's just sad. I have my eye on one of those guys that posted a "Found" on that cache, martmann. I won't mention his name, but talk about un-ethical! Granted he is just a kid, but hasn't his parents taught him anything? I try hard to ignore him, but his name keeps popping up in logs. I've checked out his finds and they're almost allways 1/1 caches. I think he thinks there's going to be a prize for the most finds. I know I should just ignore him, but it really DOES chap my hide!! He is the same guy that held on to my TB Ollie for entirely too long, forcing me to e-mail him about it. (he never responded.) Well I think I've vented enough. I feel better now! OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  22. YES!! It did work on my TB page. Thanks Leatherman. OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  23. WOOHOO! It worked! You're da bomb! Now how can I add a backgroung picture? Is that posible on a TB page? OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  24. Thanks Beach, I'll give that a shot! OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  25. Say, Leatherman, what's the HTML command for adding a link to a page? The forum pop-up does it for you, but I want to add a link to one of my TBs page. OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
