  1. GREAT! CONGRATULATIONS!
  2. I just "tested my newly acquired 27C external antennae. Put it into the secret compartment of my Tilley hat, ran the cord to my 60cs, and headed into the thickest woods around. I put the GPSr into my pocket, which is about the worse scenario I could think of. The usual beeping of the signal being lost never occurred. Each time I pulled it out to check, there were 5 moderate to strong satellites showing. If I disconnected the external and held the unit as usual, it would immediately drop to 2 or 3 weak to moderate. Putting it into my pocket got the immediate lost signal. This is going to be fun when I go group caching!
  3. It seems to have corrected the minor recent problems users were mentioning. I didn't get any sense of a quantum leap from 3.41 from what I've experienced so far.
  4. So Far, So Good with mine. BTW, when they say bigger arrow, they mean it!
  5. I was using the link to the hunt on the geocites page. I was previously able to access it, but not now. Thanks for the quick response, and the "Q".
  6. Please sign me up for "Q". BTW I can't seem to access the info now on your page.
  7. Check out the Travel section of Sunday's Star-Ledger. A basic description and first hunt is located on the first page.
  8. My condolences. I've known that pain, too. They are never replaced or forgotten.
  9. Congratulations Turtle Boy (Nigel) and Monkey Girl (Becky). If only I could have started that young, and progressed so quickly. Keep going as you are for the difficult caches!
  10. BON VOYAGE and Good Luck. It was great meeting, caching, and partying with you. Please, let us know if you ever get back this way.
  11. Congratulations! Sorry I couldn't join you yesterday, maybe next time.
  12. I can't make it Saturday. If there's any continuation on Sunday I could come by. I've done 5 of the listed caches already.

    Congratulations, Nik. Great Job!
  14. Just one: Have fun finding geocaches. I'm happy to say I've reached a point where if I'm not having fun attempting a cache, I can walk away and come back another time. I couldn't have said it better.... my sentiments exactly. To do this, my weekly goal lately seems to be doing longer treks with friends and with lots of chance for the REAL Quoddy to run, too.
  15. Geocaching related bills cannot be counted in the "Where's George Top 10". I know regular cirulation it what they're looking for, but it sure makes interesting reading of these "Geocaching" bills after awhile. I carry several denominations of both circulated and uncirculated (but stamped) bills. I always trade at least even, and when I run out of a circulated denomination, I place one my own new one's into it. I have over 300 in circulation, and only return them to caches
  16. For light duty walking I wear North Face Gore-Tex trail shoes. For deep woods and winter I use the new LL Bean 8" Gore-Tex Speed-Guide hikers. As others have said, for all round use you can't beat the Merrill Pulse mid-height Gore-Tex....you could start a long mountain hike with them straight out of the box.
  17. If you once use the 60cs with it, then I'm sure (like me) that you'll wonder how you did without it. At most of the online discount outlets the price difference is in the $35 range. I'm sure you'll even get use out the the barometer and elevation features, particularly in mountain terrain. Love the 60cs and love the compass!
  18. I found this situation to be caused mainly by arm and hand motion. The unit is very sensitive to both, particularly in the track up mode (which I use). I attribute this to the fact that arm/hand, and even body changes alter the track; North doesn't move. I now hold and move slightly differently when near the target which almost totally alleviates the "jumping". As a note: I switched from a Mericolor to the 60cs. The Mericolor averaged SO much that it appered to disregard the hand/arm motion. I switched to the 60cs BECAUSE of the Meridian's averaging and slowness at the cache.
  19. Thanks for both answers. Both "problems" are cured. I hope it was just the stomach flu keeping me from "thinking" the past two days.
  20. Just to echo Team DEMP's words. It was a great day on a great series. Thanks, Avroair.
  21. I'm going to "Africa" in the morning, I would have considered accepting the mission, but I think tomorrow may be better suited for a physical rather than mental day for me. These look great!
  22. I believe this "problem" to have just started. I want all street names to appear when using a close up scale view on City Select, but not have the clutter of every store on the block. I can't seem to get rid of them without losing the street names, too. Also, is there a way to have the unit return to a chosen preset scale instead of whatever default it decides to use? I couldn't find previous references to this/these questions.
  23. Before I get Shanghaied, I'm signing on for this event.
  24. I hold my 60cs at about 60 degrees up. When using the compass I use about 15-20 degrees. Either way, the reception doesn't seem to be very radically affected.
