  1. ...H.P. is on the right track.... is that clue enough?
  2. Clue? I zoomed out a bit... check picture above... I'll leave it a day or two before any more clues...!

I've written logs with chlorophyll (no pen - grabbed a leaf and a stick and left the greenest mark possible!). I've written logs in mud. I've left extra pieces of paper in a cache... and I've also logged the WRONG cache on the gc.com web site; that's when the fabled "I know I've been here before....!" kicks in when heading to the cache-you've-actually-found-before-but-didn't-log-coz-you-logged-another-one-and-thought-it-was-this-one. It hasn't happened often --- but it does happen. I've even gone to grab a trackable that someone has logged in my cache... and there's nothing there. It then turns up being in a cache nearby. Group (or even buddy caching) is sometimes a culprit; you assume that the fellow with the pencil signed you both in... but then you started talking about this... that.... I'm walked back to the Jeep a few times with the cache pencil/pen behind my ear. When I go back to the cache.. I often have to check to make sure I *did* actually sign it... I didn't remember stealing the pencil... so I wanna make sure I wasn't completely in cuckoo land. I check my cache logs vs. web site logs and 90% of the time they match. If someone seems to be habitually doing it.. I'd send them a note to their GC profile. It's never happened. People oops. Typically, if I check their profile and see caches/group caches/photos/evidence of "participation".. then I'm not going to worry. If they've got 15 finds with one word logs,on the same day spread from Cobourg to North Bay.... and they don't appear to have locality... I figure it MIGHT be fishy.
  4. ...OK... so if I go by your first cache placed (assuming that's "Close to home") and I look at Geodetic markers in your immediate area... I get this (and a whole bunch more) 24502 DUNBAR 100 49 2 24.8 102 40 9.4 Y 610.2 100 U X 2 CGVD28 1976 1 1 062E02 24503 SPY 100 49 1 26.5265 102 17 30.5489 100 Y A R 2001 585.9 100 Y X 6 CGVD28 1982 1 1 062E01 24505 MARTIN 100 49 2 19.4 102 4 51.2 Y 1 1 062E01 24506 GOERTZ 100 49 3 54.5 101 50 1.4 Y 1 1 062F04 The image you uploaded is of a triangulation station not a typical "marker". Its position has been determined by measuring distances and angles from other stations. I don't see record of them (unless they are the ones listed above -- but I don't believe they are). If you go onto the same webpage and do a "Radius Search" around your home co-ords you should hit a "Benchmark" that is listed and has record co-ords to play with. I'm looking more.... can you post (or message me) rough co-ords to play with if my "first cache you placed" guess is way off I'm enjoying this... the NRCAN site is better than I recall!
  5. And for that benchmark... STN NO NAME EAG Latitude Longitude HDA O I M YRA ELEVATION VDA O Q M DATUM YRA SMC COND NTS 74M611 74-M-611 100 49 52 30 97 15 58 S S 237.446 100 1 P 1 CGVD28 1974 1 1 062H14
  6. ...you could always go to the cache page of a cache near you... and click on "All nearest WAYMARKS"... and then perhaps one of the nearby Waymarks will be a Benchmark with it's designation and location. e.g. You recently found "Moray Monster" Clicking on "Nearest Waymarks" displays a LOT of Canadian benchmarks. 500m from that cache is Benchmark "74M611 - Winnipeg MB". To research a Canadian benchmark, go to the NRCan site and navigate to : Natural Resources Canada > Earth Sciences Sector > Priorities > Canadian Spatial Reference System You can use the free user account to then do "Online Database" and then do a "CSRS Database Request" . You are looking for the "Station Unique Number Search" ID.
  7. An outstanding night of caching! 8:30pm to 6:30am...! Well done to the Order!
  8. ....or visit http://www.geocaching.com/calendar if you feel the urge to check the world.
  9. They are REALLY nice. I've taken a look at a few of the ones that I qualify for and I'm really impressed by the gorgeous artwork! Well done folks!
  10. ...did I miss it in the Release Notes..... "Souvenirs"?
  11. Admittedly, it's a bit of shameless self promotion... but if you have a Wherigo capable device.. you can download the Wherigo cartridge that is a companion to this cache: http://coord.info/GC1ZXMT This is a Wherigo I created that *takes* you to 7 of my puzzle caches around the Huronia area (which should be close enough to home for you!). Once you get within 161m of the "actual final co-ords" of each of the puzzles, the Wherigo will actually TELL you how to solve the puzzle yourself... right before it gives you the final co-ords to the puzzle in question. (Hint : Take two GPS devices... or remember to SAVE a lot!!) Oh -- and at the end of it -- you get a Wherigo find, also. That will give you some insight perhaps on how a few of the puzzles are created... or, as Juicepig says... just ask!!
  12. Well, the cache listing has received a note from Bryan @ Groundspeak. [Groundspeak NOTE: This geocache is not available. Please do not visit this area. It is private property and off limits. Violators will likely be prosecuted.] My guess is (and this makes perfect sense) is that someone contacted someone...
  13. Hi GG! Please click my profile and resend me info....! Thank you muchly and then some! Thanks to all those who have ordered a coin since my posting! An envelope is already on its way, GG! 14. Hi GG! Please click my profile and resend me info....! Thank you muchly and then some! Thanks to all those who have ordered a coin since my posting!
  15. Central Ontario Geocachers are happy to announce the general availability of the COG SPRING FLING 6 MEGA EVENT geocoin! These geocoins were manufactured by Landsharkz for the GC1MGE2 MEGA EVENT; they are all trackable and have their own custom Spring Fling 6 icon! The geocoins feature the traditional COG logo with a central red maple leaf... however they are minted "as" a "cog shape" instead of the usual round geocoin in Antique Bronze. Each geocoin is $11CAN including shipping to Canadian or US addresses. If you wish a geocoin to be shipped to you, please visit the webstore at http://webstore.cogfling.ca The geocoins can be purchased securely from the webstore using PayPal, or a credit card using the PayPal system even if you do not have a PayPal account. (If you are an Ontario geocacher... and you wish to purchase a geocoin "in person" at a COG event, they will be $10CAN each -- just send an email to cogadmin(at)cogfling.ca to reserve yours!) All proceeds from the sale of the geocoin are used to fund COG activities.. such as the Spring Fling 7 Mega Event (GC1MGER) in 2011!
  16. Hi there, Replied to your x-post on the COG forums; seemed local-er-er
  17. 59 physical caches (all active), 2 CITO's (Archived) and 3 Events (Archived). I should list 2 more Earthcaches (I have one) and get the Platinum thing... but I have a hard time convincing myself to "just list things about rocks". Again. (!).
  18. Wow! Look! One of those REALLY HARD TO GET geocoins (you know, those Limited Edition 2010 COG Geocoins that can only be acquired by the public through auctions) has been put up for a "PRE-REGISTRATION PRIZE DRAW" which will be running until the end of APRIL! Fantastic! Golly, I wish I had a link to that piece of info! Oh wait - I do! Click here for information! Shucks, I love geocoins.
  19. May I suggest that if you have (or have not!!) logged your "Will Attend" and you have NOT already visited the COGFLING.CA site and followed the PRE-REGISTRATION LINK... that you get right on that!
  20. Wow! I've shipped 20 coins since this posting went up! Thanks folks!
  21. Hi sarahbelle! If we have any *left*, they will be available at Spring Fling... they are moving quickly! You can "pre-order" them on the COG store (using the link above.. after all, you'll want to Pre-Register for the event anyway.. right? !) and collect them at Spring Fling, or they can be mailed to you for $1.50 (Unless you wish to go to tonights COG event in Alliston.... I'll have them with me!)
  22. The geocoins are 1.5" in diameter; they are a hard enamel finish. The "water" is semi-translucent, allowing the "detail" of the metal behind to be seen, giving a "wave" impression. The"canoe" colour is also semi-translucent, which was done to provide a "wood grain" effect. If you check the "LE" coin, you'll see the metal that provides the "visual texture" in the two coloured coins. Thanks for asking; useful information I had omitted to include before!
