  1. Some people call them Nanos and some people use other names for them that can't be posted here.
  2. I would start by going to the "Geocaching Groups by Region / State" section of this forum and clicking on your state and see if you can find some of the events in your area then take it from there.
  3. Maybe I'll see you on the geotrail sometime.
  4. I would never place a cache I couldn't maintain. I keep mine pretty close to home and usually fix anything wrong within a couple days. I'm sure everyone can't do this but that's just how I do mine.
  5. You asked so I'll tell you my take on this. I'm fairly new to this game and I would pass it up. Simply because I don't have the expierence it takes to figure one out like that. Please don't think I'm saying it's wrong. It would probably be a fun thing for a more expierenced cacher than me. edit to fix typing error.
  6. Yes I would like to see this.
  7. I have found. blackberries gooseberries raspberries persimmons wild strawberries wild garlic or onions not sure which they were mushrooms hickory nuts walnuts watercress several kinds of wild greens sassafras wild cherries, the're in my yard but I went past them to go geocaching. wood sorrel I havn't took time to harvest all of these while geocaching but they were there for the taking.
  8. The other underground caches thread got me thinking. I know where an old abandened well is out in the woods. It has a 6 inch casing that sticks up about 2 feet above ground, and it is probably 30 feet down to the water in it. I could lower a cache on a small cable down 20 feet or so and tie it off to keep it from being lost in the well. The coords would be right one but the cache would be 20 ft down. Would this be ok if all the other Groundspeak guidlines were meet?
  9. I found one a while back that wasn't burried in dirt but it was below ground level. It was in a hole left by a large tree that had rotted and fell down. When the old tree fell it left a deep hole where on of the roots had been. The cache container was covered with bark and leaves. I looked for 45 minutes then gave up and went to lunch. I thought well that darn thing wasn't going to leave me with another DNF so I went back after lunch and found it withen 5 minutes. Right where my GPSr kept leading me but below ground level.
  10. I have the same batteries and have the same problem. Don't even think about leaving them in your car for a few days in 90 degree weather.
  11. I like a good hint but I don't like them to tell me exactly where the cache is. Like: Under a rock next to a big tree 40 ft from parking lot. Or: Behind the yellow sign. Or something like that.
  12. I don't see a problem with being FTF on lots of caches. That's part of the game. It makes it more fun if you have some competition. As far as trackables, I say move all you want. Just move them in a timely manor. Don't hold them for weeks or months. Everybody likes to see their trackables move.
  13. You can also Right Click on the background image and select "Save Background As" Then save it on your computer.
  14. The only numbers that mean much to me are my own. I know they are accurate and I've earned every one of them. Like I have always been told "cheaters never win" I don't know why anyone would want to inflate their numbers by logging caches they had not found, or at least been to. By doing so they probably don't even know how many caches they have found. Edit to add: Talking about #s, this my post #100. What do I win? I want my prize!!!...LOL
  15. I'm not sure about the filter part but here's a practice board I use sometimes. CLICK HERE
  16. I offer a FTF prize in all my caches that are big enough to put one in. I usually put lottery tickets in mine. Gives them a shot at winning a large amount of money. So far the biggest winner has been $50.00
  17. Why anyone would be happy to see these caches go away? I know it's been said 100s of times before but if you don't like them why don't you just ignore them? Why complain about them. I've only found one of them but I was the FTF on it and it had a $10 gift certificate for the restaurant in it and I liked it a lot. I don't like football but that don't make it bad, and I don't go around crying about it, I just ignore it.
  18. Then they would steal the camera and the ammo box. I have one of the game cams (I paid around 200 bucks for it) and I ain't putting it out to catch a thief as much as I would love to catch one if they stole my cache. Also I agree your ammo box supplier is ripping you off.
  19. Besides some of the other items already mentioned. Gold dollar coins 2 dollar bills
  20. Try Topozone I'm not sure what all you can do with it but it might work.
  21. Done! Thanks Arrow One and Trucker Lee, I appreciate it.
  22. How do I "release it" The original is listed as in an unkown location? How do I get it to show up as being in my posession? Do I just grab it then act like the copy is the same TB and just drop it in aother cache?
  23. Topic title is pretty plain. What's the oldest living geocacher you know of? I'm 64 and still going strong. I'm sure in a few years I will be lowering the D/T I go after, but not yet.
