Can someone tell me why, when I try to log on to geocaching.com with Topo North America 10 to sync pocket queries with my Delorme PN 60 I get this error message... "Failed to connect with geocaching’s authentication server"
-
This is commonly called a "series bonus cache." You would select "Mystery" as the cache type for the final location, not "Multi-Cache." For a Mystery cache you can post "bogus" coordinates, like in the middle of a lake, or for convenient parking, etc. Then, in your cache description, you explain that the coordinates for the actual cache location can be found by visiting the three traditional caches.
Two cautions: first, you cannot delete a find on the Mystery cache if the geocacher signed the logbook, but did not visit all three of the traditionals. Maybe they guessed lucky, maybe they teamed up with a friend - it doesn't matter. Second, you cannot string several mystery caches together ("find cache 1 to learn the coordinates for cache 2, find cache 2 to learn the coordinates for cache 3" etc.). This is called "daisy chaining" and is not allowed under the listing guidelines, as explained in this Help Center article. What you described sounds just fine!
Thanka a bunch, that's what I needed to know.

The lid of each cache container in the series has a clue written on it to solve the final coordinates.
Thanks, mine will be color coded.

Thanks folks,
exactly what I needed to know with great examples too. I really appreciate your help.

I would like to place a series of 4 caches with 3 of them being traditionals and a #4 puzzle cache where they would have to solve a puzzle to get coords for final puzzle cache. To solve the puzzle they would have to gather info from the first 3 traditional caches. I would have to somehow have the puzzle cache coords wrong so they they couldn't go to it without solving the puzzle.
When I go to list the final Puzzle/Multi cache it wants coords from the first stages of the multi which would be my first 3 traditional caches. Will this work when I try to submit it? If not how can I do it? I think I have found cashes like this before but don't know how to do one.

I may have to make a trip to Ohio
Be carelul cheech gang, you could be accused for using reverse psychology to get more votes on your cache...LOL

Is it etical to qoute/copy and paste a message from a privategroup to a public forum?
Well it must have been a lot of peoples favorite then wasn't it? LOLCongratulations, I guess the solicitation worked!
This.
Congrats on getting the number one spot, but to be fair, you pimped for votes on a local mailing list to make it happen.
It was #2 favored before it was ever mentioned on a public forum.
So? It still doesn't change the fact you did it...and I quote:
There are currantly 6640 caches in MO. My Jolly Green Giant Cache GC1MDCE is
rated #2 Favorite in MO with 59 points. Only 9 points behind the #1 Saint Louis
Arch Virtual cache. Now we can't let a little thing like an arch keep me out of
first place can we? If you havn't found Jolly Green Giant go find it. If it is
one of your favorites and you havn't voted it as one of your favorites please go
do so now...Thanks.....Lacomo
Sure...but wouldn't it have been a bit more ethical to let people vote of their own accord instead of emailing them and posting to a mailing list to get them to vote for it?
I'm done with this subject.

LOL, I give up!!!! I will not argue with you on this forum. I will be glad to discuss it farther in private.
I'll try to make it plain to you what I'm saying. You posted on this public forum that "there were also emails sent to previous finders asking for a favorite vote". The definition of also is:in addition; too; besides; as well The above mentioned post was posted on a Yahoo group I belong to that I know a large amount of ths members and they would have not even gottan an email unless thier settings were set to recieve emails from that group. Now I will ask you one more time: What other emails are you refering to? If you are going to post something negative about me on a public forum please be sure you can back it up.the ones sent to previous finders asking for a favorite vote
I've never said if it was negative or not, your words. Do you think it's negative to solicit votes, by either/or posting on a forum or personal emails? I never said you emailed anyone, I don't know if you did or not, but I do know of previous finders that received emails soliciting a favorite vote for that cache.

And to Arthur & Trillian: How etical is it to copy and paste a posting from a private group to a public forum?

What other emails are you talking about? You're gonna have to refresh my memory.

I would like to have it to keep track of where one of my caches compares to all other caches without going to all 50 states one at a time. I have one with 114 favorites now. Last time I checked it only had 9 ahead of it. Took me about half an hour to go through all the states. It would be nice to see what caches in the entire country have the most Favorites votes. I would be inclined to check out the cache pages and likely add them to my Wish List.
-
We can search other countries but The United States is not on the dropdown list of countries to search.
-
Look at GC1MDCE and see if the name fits.
Looks like a great cache!
...but, it looks gray to me in all of the photos, so it doesn't quite match. I like the intent of the name though.
medoug.
It is defiantly green. OD green, I have regular ammo boxes the same color.

Keystone kinda on the subject. Why can we search all the countries except the US in Hide and Seek a cache.1. Right now, you can sort the pocket query preview on the search results page, as described above. You'd then need to manually take note of the caches in your query that came to your attention this way.
2. In the future, information about Favorites will be part of the downloaded GPX files. At that time, caches could be sorted offline based on the number of Favorite points. This will be a powerful tool for finding quality caches - especially when combined with your general caching preferences as expressed in other available pocket query filters.
-
Is there a way to sort a PQ by number of favorites caches in my area (or state) have? Since I have little desire to go out and hunt every cache in my area to see if its going to be exciting or lame, but there are plenty of people who do have that desire, and post their favorites using the new feature, can I sort those listings somehow to find the highest favorited caches?
I don't about PQs but did you know you could do it with the Hide and Seek feature?
Go to "Hide and seek a cache" then use the dropdown menue in states and select your state. then on the page that comes up with all the cache in your state click on the little blue ribbon above the favorites collum and it will list the most favored first. I know this is not what you asked and you may have already knew how to do this. Anyway I hope it helps.

Cool,
What's it made of, I was thinking of making a similar cache around here in the spring. If that's ok....?
Check your email.

-

I have an adventure lab cache in an area where major construction is going on and one location is blocked and can't be logged. How can I disable this cache?
