PLEASE READ BUT DO NOT POST
Morock & Miss C replied to Bubba Cache's topic in General geocaching topics
Seems like a interesting subject I'm headed out of town next weekend and planning some caches to do on the trip. Including a few virtuals. What better way to check out the area and warm up for the challenging ones. 'Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.. the.. Great..er..Oz has spoken.' Funny story. Hope she's not a native Oregonian. Certainly not a rural person of any state. I voted 'No way' but have since relented. If she's game give it a shot. 'Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.. the.. Great..er..Oz has spoken.' Frank Morgan, in MGM's The Wizard of Oz 1939

Thanks for the info. Now, when was the cut-off date? I know someone listed as January 19, 2003 that is a charter member. Yes, you guessed it. I want that charter title too. Lol. I'm new to this and probably missed this topic before, please bear with me. What's the difference and requirements concerning charter versus premium memebership? 'Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.. the.. Great..er..Oz has spoken.' Frank Morgan, in MGM's The Wizard of Oz 1939

I live in Southern Oregon, but spend some time over the border in Modoc county California. Some of the locals call it 'More Rock' county because of all the basalt and other lava rock. Morphed that into Morock. Another level is my love of rock'n roll music. The avatar is another story for another thread. 'Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.. the.. My dad had a dog when he was a kid named da@#it. As in "come here da@#it", "Get out of there da@#it" Turns out he was a cat person. Just a joke folks. Cute pup. Such soulfull eyes. I'm mostly lousy at names, always let the kids or wife do the naming. Cop cacher, is the only thing comes to mind. CC for short. -
I didn't feel picked on. I work in sales. Have to have thick skin. Hey I'm a newbie and appreciate all you old timers have done for the sport. No kiddin' ;D PS I changed the rating.

Sorry about that hide. [] smithdw. I'll be back to check on it Sunday and adjust cords or difficulty rating. I thought you hard core Klamath Falls, Oregon cachers loved the challenge. You guys are great.[]

I make my own out of silver buffalo berry or apple. Have a pretty huge mountain mahogany stick with a forked top that is still curing. Gives me extra leverage and balance on slopes. Wet and mossy ground is a snap to transverse by keeping two contact points. Ya, they are a bit of a hassle sometimes but I've used them for 15 years and don't feel properly equipped without a staff. Need to grow some more buffalo berry it is my favorite. Hard as hickory and light. Also experimenting with a dog lead attached so I can quickly harness our dog Chloe when she's running loose and there may be a hazard or other people nearby.

All very interesting info. One comment. All that walking around a newly placed cache may leave a 'herd of elk just strolled through' look to that perfect hide. I'm a novice, yes, but sometimes I'll get to the cords and just look around for obvious trails, tracks, broken twigs, whatever looks unnatural. No, I'm no tracker just like to keep my eye balls working.

The Official Geocache Honk

Rude habit, no excuse. I've heard it is illegal here in Oregon. Never seen or heard of a ticket being issued. Give me that ticket book and there'd be some paper handed out. -
Just check the vote. Says it all. With all respect to the young families.

Thanks for the input. 'Map tools' looks like a keeper. Great feedback. Happy caching.

Hi all, kinda new to all this, but diggin' it. I want to get good cords off my topos and can't find these: Map grid/square compass rose Latitude/Longitude ruler 1:24,000 scale corner ruler Yes, I know these can be printed off some online guides. I'd like something more durable and professional. Any help would be appreciated. Been searching for web business's that carry such archaic instruments. thanks Morock, Klamath Falls, Oregon
