  1. I bet if you were able to snag a bunch of FTFs from this "TEAM" we wouldn't be talking about this. Don't worry about how other people play and you won't have anything to complain about. This is just sour grapes because you got beat to some FTFs. To me players who complain about the FTF game is ultra-cheesy. The thing about GS deleting these logs is why would they want to get in the middle of this drama. You cant prove which cacher went to which cache, their names are on the log. I'm still blown away how some adults act in this game. Let it go and you will be much happier. There are better things to worry about then some silly game where you sign your nickname on a piece of paper in a container stuffed in some bush.
  2. Maybe you need to ask the players in your local forum that think like this. I'd say most players on this forum support Groundspeak and don't care about the money Groundspeak makes. Why do you care anyway? There's always going to be complainers in life. Let them complain and don't worry about it. This isn't something you can change.
  3. I really don't see anything wrong with you and your partner going different ways to log all the caches, even though you didnt visit all the caches. This is just a game to go out and have some fun in the outdoors, you don't win anything in the end and your total find count means absolutely nothing. I say go for it but just don't mention that you two split up to find the caches in the logs. That way you don't have to listen to people telling you that you're playing wrong.
  4. I think this is a pretty cool idea to use the camera to help out on a find. I would let a found it log stand on any of my caches.
  5. This is not a rule or a guideline. If you want to toot your own horn about FTF, go for it. Just remember there are those that will have a problem with it. Ignore them. What if the cache owner has a problem with it? Should tooting your own horn about a FTF take precedent over properly thanking the person the provided the FTF for you to find? If the cache owner has a problem with it then he/she shouldn't be placing caches. I always toot my own horn then I thank the CO for the cache and the FTF. Still doesnt get old after over 750 FTFs.
  6. The only time I really use a bookmark list is if I'm going to a city that I haven't cached in before. I'll make a PQ of the area then go through every page and bookmark all the favorites(7 or more) and make a PQ list of all favorites. I've done this a few times now and the caching day seems to be a lot fun. Thats how I use the bookmark list.
  7. Well after I emailed the cacher in question he sent me his phone number to give him a call. We chatted for about 25 mins or so and laughed at the thread. So I doubt he will chime in because he really doesn't care. Kinda glad this came up because when he comes out to So Cal we might go see the Lakers play and do a little caching. Seems like a really nice guy to me. I think the OP is taking the FTF game WAY to serious. Time to lock this thread and call it a day.
  8. I don't mind challenges but some are just down right dumb. I think it's even more lame if you create a challenge cache and don't even meet the requiremnets yourself.
  9. The only person thats warped around here is you . I can't believe the big deal you are making about this poor cacher. You can't control the way a cacher is going to grab your caches. I think it's more that you don't like this cacher. I let him know about this thread so lets see if he chimes in.
  10. I agree. It really blows me away to read some of these threads and realize that these are grown adults. Are you kidding me, this is just a game.
  11. I know some players who use this practice with the yearly events that they put on. Archive last years and relist the new ones in the same spot for the new event. Heck some caches even had the same old logs in them. I also remember finding 2 caches in the same spot a few times. We stopped looking for the event caches after the second year attending.
  12. I will say 835 caches only because you came too far not to finish the trail in one day. If you need a relief driver I would be more then happy to help you out so you can get them all. The cold isn't too bad it's the dang wind that sucks. Good luck and have fun out there, I know we did.
  13. I've found BIG nails in the poles that had a log around the nail, a little baggie with tape around the baggie that was hidden in the cracks of the pole, the yellow reflector that goes around the pole had magnets on each end and was stuck to the pole with the log stuck to the back of the reflector. I even found one that was a missing dog/cat flier. Also found some caches that needed water to float a cache up a tube that was fastened to the pole. Found one cache that was a piece of gum that was stuck in the pole, the container was one of those tiny plastic tubes with the fake gum glued to the lid.
  14. What time do you plan on stopping? DO you plan on grabbing other caches that are not part of the series?
  15. Stamina. Thats how this is done and plenty of caches to find .10 apart. Every time I read one of these "How did they do this" it's not possible threads I just shake my head and laugh. What does it really matter what soemone else finds in a day or is it people just want ot say it's not possible. Guess what people, it's possible with trails like the ET Highway. Been there, done that. I was a nonbeliever til I actually tried it. Thats when I realized it was actually possible.
  16. Our yellow and chocolate lab both love to be out on the trails while we geocache.
  17. If this was my cache I think I would let this one go and call it a day. Let the next oldest cache take the abuse.
  18. I have NO problem reporting caches that are against the guidelines. I also don't care if the cacher in questions knows that I reported him/her. We have guidelines to play by and we all need to play by them. I think you should really bring this to the reviewers attention and let them take care of it. I really don't see a reason to post this problem in the forums because you know you would have the support of the players here. Now do something about it or you will be just like of the rest of the cachers ignoring this major issue. I would say something but I havent found the caches in question. It's funny how the illegal caches receive favorite points and receive logs like, "i have never seen a hide like this". Yeah because they're against the guidelines.
  19. As long as the driver can see the cache, this system of finding caches is OK. As long as his stamp is on there, nevermind I heard you can just see the cache and claim a find and no signature required.
  20. Depends on the quality of the pot. If it was some good stuff, I'd roll it up and smoke it and come up with a new cache idea. If it was SWAG weed then I would throw it out so nobody else would have to deal with it. It's all about quality when it comes to Marijuana.
  21. Well you *can*, but it's not going to have the same effect. You haven't had my sister-in-laws' brownies.
  22. Any cache with pot as a trade item would make that cache a real quality cache. I'd be racing for those FTFs again.
  23. There are definitely some geocachers that would say this was not a find. I am not among them. Unless the cache was up a tree you couldn't climb or there was some extra challenge to getting the log after the container was found (combo lock, cache was an ammo can full of film cans only one of which contained the log) then physically seeing the container where I know I could retrieve it is enough for me in a situation like this. If I had any doubt (ex: if you saw a pill pottle but it wasn't camo'd or marked it could have just been trash, not the cache) then I would not log a Find. (If there wasn't a muggle present in the situation described then I would retrieve the cache and sign the physical log. Skipping the physical long signing is an infrequent exception for me, not my usual practical.) Man thats some pretty crazy logic right here. If you can see the one in the tree why not log that as a find. You might as well log all the caches you drive by.
  24. If it was my cache and you logged a find I would delete your log in a heart beat. Theres a big difference of forgetting/losing a pen and having the cache in hand than being able to see the cache and log a find. But you can play how you want to. I agree...if the cache was up a tree. Would you prefer under this circumstance for me to point out the cache to the muggles so they could get out of my way so I could make the grab and sign it? How about come back another day when nobody was around and actually have the cache in hand and sign the log. I would do that if the owner deleted my log. Why would you even let it come to that? I have had to come back to many caches and sign the log before I claimed the find. I guess some people just play different.
